tinydancer, did you need a bone graft or anything? My bone isn't thick enough (because baby tooth apparently) so they are doing a bone graft and sinus lift to fit the implant properly after the extraction. All this has to be done under general anesthesia. 😳😭 I didn't - mine is on the bottom so they just drilled into the jaw and then put in some bone powder (from a cadaver apparently - creepy!) which I think sort of calcifies around the screw. General anesthesia is definitely more risky but on the plus side hopefully you won't remember it.

I think general anesthesia is my favorite way to do things. It literally felt like I was in the operating room for 30 seconds when I got my tonsils out. I got a bit of a headache after, though.
I'm exhausted. H has been home for 30 minutes. We ordered pizza for dinner. I do not have the energy to do anything right now. I give up

We are still nursing! Wake-up, nap, afternoon, overnight. Sometimes more. We had a fun day today! This is such a fun age

Also still nursing here too. Wake up, after DC, to sleep, and 1-2 times overnight. Plus if we are. It's home there is usually at least one additional day time nurse. I have really started actively trying to get her to drop everything but bedtime to wake up. Offering another drink, changing activities etc. but she is a sniffly kid and this is part of her snuggly routine with me so it's proving difficult.

scorpioscuba, I hope it's a dry heat at least? I would probably take a few days of that over weeks of below zero temperatures, but still, that's HOT! We were all sick for the past couple weeks and everyone is better except me. My left sinus is so clogged. Do your J16 babes all eat in high chairs still? When do you move to a booster? Random thoughts over here today...

The whining. The screeching. Omg you guys it's 8am. I cannot take it. Some days they are so darn cute. Others...so loud.
Busy day here (and it's mid70s, so gorgeous!). I'm going back to the chiro for my back and then dd1 and I agreed I'd give her swim lessons myself so we will see how that goes. Tonight is science night again and they are pumped. I'm in the middle of a great book and I need to prep some tutoring stuff during naptime. Oh and doctor appts and such for everyone including the dog. Who knew 5 people had so many appointments??

@tinydance our high chair converts to a booster and we've been using it as such for a while now. She eats on a plate at the table. Most days she does well, but occasionally she dumps it or tries to throw it. My big girls are still in boosters bc they are tiny. My table consists of three high hair/boosters and three chairs. It's fancy.

tinydancer - dd2 is still in the highchair. We have a booster I'd like to put her in, but I don't trust her to not do something crazy in it. I can't totally picture her pushing her chair back and somehow tipping it over, or getting out of the straps and falling out, or doing some crazy reach that I thought impossible and grabbing things off the table she shouldn't have. She's a real determined little stinker. This is the seat we have: www.amazon.com/OXO-Nest-Booster-Straps-Green/dp/B00YGHFFVMI like it well enough as far as being stable, secure, and comfortable. We did have an issue with the glue holding the seat pad onto the base, but it came apart during a pretty aggressive cleaning. Speaking of cleaning.... these things get NASTY. Food falls into the holes the straps come out of, which we didn't really realize at first. We probably had the booster attached to the dining chair for over a month before we took it off and it was horrifying underneath. Like my H almost puked level of horrifying. I'd almost rather wait until Dd1 was old enough to climb up and down from the booster herself so we could just get a strapless one. I don't know... we probably won't be able to wait that long. 🤔 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

She has to sit up on her knees to eat at the table, but that's what she prefers so I let it be. I must ask her once a week if she wants her booster, though. She loves sitting in them at restaurants and at grandma's house, though. Go figure.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And to keep my PW streak going... I'm sick. My H had a cold all weekend, Dd1 came down with it yesterday - complete with 103 degree fever, and now it is my turn apparently. I keep thinking dd2 is getting sick, too, but she seems okay for the most part so far. She managed to grab some used Kleenex out of the garbage can yesterday, and stole her sister's juice and took a huge drink, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time.... tinydancer - hope you feel better soon! Stuffy noses that lingering forever are so frustrating. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

M's high chair can also be used as a booster, by taking the tray off. We haven't yet, because it's easier for us to contain the mess on the tray, plates go all over the place. My mom has a booster that doubles as a high chair, but I think we've used the tray on hers twice. She prefers to just give M a plate. We never used a booster for S, like Nellie's DD, he preferred to sit on his knees.

My insomnia has been insane lately. I haven't had a decent unmedicated sleep in like 2 weeks. It wouldn't be so bad if it meant that I wasn't tired, but I am tired, I just can't sleep. It blows.

H actually talked to someone about his benefits. Turns out, they only direct bill for vision and dental. Everything else gets reimbursed. So now he has to figure out how to set up the app so we don't have to wait 2 weeks to get the money back. His coworker says that with the app it only takes about 24 hours. Apparently nagging and constantly bitching about the pain for about almost a week was enough to get him to get his ass in gear

tinydancer DS is in a booster (and has been for a few months). He tries pushing the chair back sometimes so we usually stick another chair behind his in case he pushes off the table. Our high hair wasn't working in our space and that's why we moved him over Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

tinydancer, we just had a space saving highchair that attaches to our kitchen table chairs. We have been buckling her in and pulling her up to the table for some time now and not using the tray. She prefers it and we haven't had many issues with throwing plates etc. Sometimes she kneels on the chairs themselves and eats for snack or to finish her breakfast later in the morning.

I have started using the "talk" feature on our baby monitor for DD and surprisingly, it's working! Most of the time. When I put her to bed if she isn't already asleep sometimes she will cry when I leave. Usually as soon as the door is shut behind me she lays down and goes to sleep. If she doesn't, I just talk into the monitor and tell her to lay down. She looks around for my voice but then listens! She woke up at midnight last night and was standing in her crib, crying. So I did it again and she laid down and went back to sleep. We are still struggling with early morning wake-ups and it didn't work when she woke up at 4:45am.

DD1 (4) loves to use a booster seat. We bought her a kids table when she was 3 and she'd rather eat at the big table with us. DD2 uses the high chair inside and the booster outside. It's easier to move the booster in and out. Restaurants are hit or miss if she'll actually sit long enough to eat or not. She usually ends up in our laps. We try high chairs and boosters. DD2 is getting stuffy again. Since she tested negative for any allergies we stopped the allergy medicine about a month ago. Not sure if it's a cold or just minor allergies. She has her 18 month check up on Friday. Growing up too fast for sure.

J is still in his high chair. It's a space saver that attaches to our dining room chair. It's easier to let little mister I can do it all myself destroy his high chair than to put him at the table. This way I can just take the tray off and wash it. The seat comes off easily to go in the washing machine. I do pull him up to the table, but he still uses his tray.

Preschool registrations start in February and March for the fall, but I didn't sign Dd1 up for anywhere because I wasn't sure what part of the city we would be moving to. I kind of forgot about it for awhile after we made through inspections, etc on this place - and now EVERYWHERE is full. I haven't checked church-based schools because religion really isn't our thing, but seriously - I can't find anywhere that doesn't already have a full waitlist. I feel like a bad mom!

nellieoleson will they waitlist you? Maybe if there are enough kids on the list they'll open another section? Or perhaps someone will move away? Prek registration is so frustrating! How old is dd1 again? Our elementary schools have some prek availability in the high school classes for child development, have you checked programs there? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think I found a class for her, though! It's at one of the city's parks and rec community centers. We did some day camps there last summer. It's only for 2 hours/2 days a week, which is shorter than I was hoping for, but better than nothing! Phew. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

nellieoleson We have DD1 in a church based preschool. H is not religious at all and is very weird about it. She is at the church I grew up in and it has some of the best reviews. I don't regret it. Neither does H. The only thing we want different is the amount of time she's there. Last year it was twice a week for 2 hours each day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DD3 is still in a high chair and will be for quite some time, I think. DDs 1+2 were both in it until they were around 2, I think. Then we moved them to boosters. I can imagine that DD3 might be ready earlier, but meh, the high chair still works for us and I'm lazy, so we're going to stick with it for a while yet.
Today is DD1's big overnight at preschool - it's for the kids who start school in the fall, and even though DD1 will be going to the special class and not 1st grade, she's still doing the whole program with the kids who will start 1st grade. She's super excited - it'll be the first time she stays somewhere without us (well, one night when she was 1.5 with my parents, but she doesn't remember that). I'm half expecting to get a phone call MOTN to come get her, but we'll see.
It's almost 100°F here and there is no A/C. So I'm going to go walk on the treadmill now before it gets so hot upstairs that I melt.

Why, DEAR GOD WHY, does the car turn my sweet little boy into a screaming/shrieking banshee?
I'm so over all the crying and screaming in the car. I can't turn the radio up loud enough to drown him out, because it would be at deafening levels. My friend advised earbuds. I think I'm going to give that a try.
