I could see myself being very comfortable in this kind of casual wardrobe if I lived in a warmer location. I much prefer dresses to shorts in the summer time. I always feel put together a dress. I think that’s why going from working to SAH was so difficult for me. I wore dresses and skirts 90% of the time, dress pants the other 10, so jeans were mainly left to going out on the weekends, and I struggled with finding a way to make my SAH wardrobe stylish but not over or under dressed. I also think it took me this long because until last March I was technically on maternity leave, and now they I’m officially resigned I feel like the next stage of my “fashion life” can start. Maybe dumb, but it kind of gave me the push I needed to change my wardrobe for the summer and now for this coming year. I would live in dresses in warmer climate! I'm not wearing one in 0° weather though. You know it's balls hot here 9 months out of the year but I just don't think dresses are conducive to running after children. Last year we went to our neighbors house for a NYE party and most of the women had dresses on. Every time one of them bent over to pick up a kid or talk to one of them you could see EVERYTHING.

Aww, I'm sorry mskatiep . You're not a failure; you won't be the first parent to have to pick a child up, and you won't be the last. Maybe having to be picked up will make an impression on her. If it were me, B would spend the rest of the day in his room. No hanging out with Mom or watching TV, etc. if you are in trouble at school. eta: my girlfriend just texted me that she got called by the teacher today b/c her daughter (who's 4-almost-5 and is normally a very nice kid) pinched one girl, and told another, "I don't like your mommy b/c she's not pretty". So see, it's not just you. flamingo that's pretty much what I did except she sat on the couch instead of her room. Room has toys. Glad it's not just mine. But man this is frustrating.

Thanks! I do shop at loft. I do these but in the curvy. The legs are the same, only difference is hips and thighs (I need a roomier fit). They are my go to jeans, and I love that they come in petite

@makatiep I’m sorry. What does L say when you ask her why she’s acting that way? She can't/won't really explain or justify. Just says that she was mad or doesn't know.

mskatiep, i’m so sorry. Is anything else going on that would make her act that way? Feeling sick or a bad night sleep, not eating enough that morning? She did choose to skip breakfast today, but she's generally not a hangry kid. She fell out of the bed last night, but just came in to tell me and then went back to bed in her room. I'm not sure if there could be another cause.

kim22 I hope your son is feeling better quickly. Head injuries are scary. mskatiep Kids man...why are they such jerks sometimes? When E acts up, she will usually tell me later that she was too tired or whatever the reason. I'm sure you've tried it, but I would ask her how she was feeling when she did specific things, how she feels to have to come home early, how she feels when she knows that she upset mommy? Try to get her to talk openly about it. It seems like, at least for E, once she realized what the trigger was, she could try to change her behavior. You aren't a failure, I'm sure the school calls parents regularly for this behavior in kids this age. They don't know how to express themselves, so they do it in incorrect ways.

chrisy01 ugh, hope everyone feels better and you stay healthy. mskatiep don’t beat yourself up. This happened to me last year with R and I remember that feeling of just being at my wits end. I agree with everyone else.... major consequences, nothing fun, no toys. dapostrophe I’m with you, I do most of my shopping at Nordstrom’s rack! I also never leave the house without makeup on, so I guess that how I feel more out together even though I’m usually in workout clothes!

So I just went to the grocery store, picked up a few things, went through self checkout and then walked over to Starbucks (in the store) for a coffee. As I’m waiting one of the store employees tracks me down because I didn’t ever pay at self checkout 🤦🏼♀️ how embarrassing. I’m glad I was still inside at least.

I’ve been getting ready from the waist up every weekday morning, and I keep sweats or leggings on until the very last minute. I pretty much wear leggings or similar every day. Whenever I wear anything nicer, S is always shocked. I should probably step it up, but {shruggy guy} It doesn't help that I could literally wear pajamas to my job if I wanted to. Dude seems disappointed if I'm not all dolled up for dropping him at school. The sixth grade girls always come up and talk about my shoes, hat, glasses, whatever. Child, you can't rely on mom's ability to interact with pre-teens forever. You'll need to make your own friends!

chrisy01, I hope you manage to stay healthy and everyone else gets better quickly. mskatiep, that’s tough. Have you tried a reward chart or something like the chore/behaviour chart. Maybe having a visual incentive might help her.

cheeksmum, how are you feeling? Is your induction tomorrow? Feeling good. I’ve been having the same contractions but nothing consistent. Tomorrow is baby day! We are dropping N at school for 9 and then we go in at 10am to get everything started... I’m hoping since my body has already started dilating and is contracting just not regularly that it won’t be too long and by this time tomorrow we are holding our baby.

mskatiep I'm sorry about her behavior during an already stressful week. Maybe she can feel comfortable taking the teacher she just needs to be left alone for the day and they let her stay to the side? kim22 I hope he feels better

Well, E and I took a nap and I woke up with a sore throat. I don’t see any sores or bumps but not feeling good. I’m hoping it’s just exhaustion. Fingers crossed.

So the other issue we are having is that she had lost use of her right arm/hand. I’ve noticed for about a week her favoring it. But today she isn’t even using it at all. That, coupled with the balance issues, not being able to hardly walk all of a sudden. Turns out her shunt wasn’t swollen. I fixed her hair differently today and MH thought the shunt looked different/swollen.🙄. But the other stuff is still quite concerning. So they just did an MRI and are admitting her for observation tonight. Hopefully we will have some answers tomorrow.
