danvers Hope your LO is feeling better! Car is getting fixed, Walmart trip was completed earlier this morning and there’s 4 weeks until I’m back to work. I just found out a few things this weekend that really makes me not want to go back. I’m going to enjoy every last day I have home with these kids.

I’m here! Busy busy with my folks back and helping them unpack so much stuff and catching up. It’s different catching up on the phone vs. f2f. Anyways lil fella has been a bear refusing naps and nursing me raw. My nips feel like the first few weeks. So sore plus his little emerging gnashers 😩😭 will catch up later. Hoping everyone is having a good start to the week. August Blooms sounds like you’ve gotten a lot accomplished for the day already. I also owe you a recipe. I just need to get to my laptop.

Hey! It’s almosy quitting time. I hope my headache goes away once I’m out of the office. This week is going to be a long one. Late work night tomorrow and then I travel the rest of the week. 😫 this may be the end of my pumping days.

DS has been sleeping like absolute shit for naps and night the last several days and I am so over it. I don’t know what his issue is but it sucks. And on top of it DD has been having some serious attitude/tantrums/meltdowns as she’s adjusting to going to preschool which is so so not her. I basically want to eat junk food and chug wine or coffee depending on the moment.

We took DD2 to urgent care because we’re having trouble keeping her fever down without meds. When the Tylenol or Motrin wear off it spikes right back up to 103. Urgent Care wasn’t really sure what was wrong and said a possible ear infection. Right as we finished up the pedi called and said they could fit us in tomorrow morning at 8:30. I debated not going since we were just at Urgent Care but DD2 projectile vomited everything from her lunch up right then so I’m glad I didn’t change my mind.
I’m not sure what else happened today. My mind is kind of in momma survival mode.

Oh man danvers I’m glad the doctor can see you quickly. And hopefully it’s easily treated and over with.

Is there an 11 month sleep regression? Like actually. He started walking well this weekend and is drooling so I guess it could be a milestone or working on a tooth issue too, but whatever it is it sucks

I have no helpful thoughts, other than to say maybe it’s a leap? It seemed to go away after 2 weeks, and now he is back to sleeping in his crib from 7:30 to 3 or 4am, when he wakes up to eat a bit (and then goes down again until 7 or so).

This is exactly what is going on here. He was sleeping 7-3:30/4-eat quickly-6:45/7. And he was going down nicely and easily for naps and bed. Now he doesn’t go down without a battle and he is waking up and staying awake multiple times! Last night I was up from 2-3 and could not get him to settle! He already woke up tonight...at 9:45 😬. According to my app he is in a sunny period...8 days before the next leap 🤷♀️

Random thoughts from the night:
Ugh. Just had to change DD2s diaper. Its 1:30am here and I knew it would involve lots of crying and screaming. Nursing and rocking now. She still feels really hot but she’s sleeping better than yesterday (like, not upright with H in the recliner) so that’s a plus. Urgent care gave her Tylenol about 10!hours ago and we haven’t given her anything since as she is sleeping and we’d like to see if the fever breaks on it own. I worry she gets so much medicine anyway because she is sick all the time. Obviously I will give her Motrin or Tylenol if she needs it but since she is sleeping and seems ok I’m holding off.

A week ago (so she was 11.5 months) she suddenly started sleeping through the night, with zero change in anything H or I had done previously. Maybe that’s coming for you too? All the coffee (or wine) until then though!!!

Oh no danvers. It's so hard when they're sick. DCP finally was given the all clear last night regarding her shingles. Hallelujah. My husband's aunt watched him yesterday and she said he was good as gold but he didn't take either bottle. He was there from 8-5 and he only had yogurt. So ready to get back to our normal routine!

I'm sorry for the sick kiddos!
E is finally sleeping better than she has in months so I'm not even thinking about these sleep regressions yall speak of. I'm just gonna straight up ostrich this one. Head in the sand and all.
Of course, shes not walking either so maybe mine is just coming later.

danvers hope kiddo is feeling better! I hate fevers. I never get any sleep because I’m up worrying even if they are sleeping ok. Sorry y’all I’ve been kind of out of the loop. Work is crazy and the hurricane added to it. No major issues where we are just a lot of mess and sticks down and generally soggy. Ready for a nice quiet (and dry) fall! I had a little pity party last night because we don’t have a lot of friends in town yet and there was no one to come to baby’s first birthday. Hubby invited some of his work friends though so we will have help eating the cake at least! She’s sleeping pretty well right now (7pm-6am) so like cythe I’m putting my head in the sand and hoping it lasts. Two new teeth just came in so we should be safe from teeth for a while. No walking yet but she is trying! She takes one or two steps then falls over. And the best news: no more dairy intolerance! She accidentally got into her brothers yogurt and we found her with it all over her face and eating it like she was starving. So now she has whole milk during the day and THANK THE LORD I can hang up my pump at work. She turns one on the 27th. Where has the time gone????

This turned into a very long dear diary post.
Flu. DD2 tested positive for Influenza A. Because of course she has it. I have no idea where she even would have gotten it with zero cases at daycare. Doctor put in a prescription of tamiflu for DD1 just in case because it’s so contagious.
Small moment for a pity party of 1 because in 11 month we’ve had:: Jaundice Meningitis with a 4 day hospital stay RSV Bronchitis Pneumonia Ear infections Strep ... and now the flu.
She actually has no fever today so doctor thinks we’re just going to deal with the side effects for the rest of the week -excessive fatigue, extreme fussiness, little appetite. H is staying home tomorrow and then we’ll figure out Thursday and Friday.
Guys, I promise I don’t want to be “that mom” who complains about her kid being sick all the time. I really wish I had something else to contribute instead of telling you all my kid is sick... again.

I think it is a personal challenge for him to see how many times he can get up in one night.

danvers, that is an extremely rough 11 months. I felt like DS1 was always sick as a baby, and he was far less dramatic than that. I wish i could do something for you!

I do have something completely non-sickness-or-kid-related to share!
The Captain Marvel movie trailer is out today. Carol Danvers (my SN) is the badass Captain Marvel. The trailer looks awesome (if you're a Marvel superhero fan that is) and I'm going to try to channel some of that kick-ass awesomeness as I disinfect the house and keep momming on...

Both kids finally slept better last night after DS’s initial wake up and we are purposefully having a laid back day at home to try and get back on track. DS fought his morning nap a bit but seems to be sleeping ok and DD is enjoying some 1:1 time with Daddy

danvers Hopefully she’s just getting it out of the way and she’ll be healthy going forward. And DH is a huge comics/superhero guy, I’m excited, I haven’t been looking forward any of the Marvel universe movies since Black Panther. I think Brie Larson will do a great job. bootsorhearts1 Glad you guys didn’t get hit too hard with the hurricane and great news that the dairy intolerance is gone! It must be such a relief not to have to pump any more.

danvers, I’m so sorry to hear that baby girl is sick again but I’m glad you have a dx. So so hard when they’re little and like bootsorhearts1 said no matter what you really can’t sleep knowing they’re sick. Sending baby girl all the healthy vibes and strength for you. Fx dd1 s spared.

You are a great mom danvers, and you have definitely been through the ringer this first year. Big hugs. I hope that Captain Marvel movie ends up being good!
