I'm not sure. I mean we could move him to another part of the farm and see how long it takes him to find his way back lol. It wouldn't take long. You have to take them miles and miles and miles away. And even then they could still find their way back. He's chewed through the lid of our trash can for the dog food. He's a persistent little thief. I'm not going to let them kill him. He'll lose interest eventually. We can just keep the dog food inside for now until he moves on.

If he's there then he has a home close by. They don't usually give up.

He's eaten about 20 lbs of dog food! Unless there's more than one lol.

wedding did C color that and write that himself? I'm impressed!!! He colored it. If you look closely they wrote the words and he traced over them. At this point he can kind of write his name but that's it. And even that is hit or miss. S can't color in the lines or write anything. He tried to write his name Sunday and it was just big lines. He is the oldest in his class and I can't wait for him to move up. I feel like he'll learn so much more!

oh joy.. It's also raccoon baby season. Well I'm definitely not relocating them then! I think I'll get a move substantial trash can and put our some feed for the raccoons back in the woods. Away from the house. They are so cute though. Maybe we'll just adopt them lol. <- kidding

klong11 you're right. Just googled and read on Ohio's wildlife page that breeding season is February-March and gestation is 65 days. So babies are probably 3ish weeks old and thats why they're desperate for food.

They sound like little kittens, so I heard them right away.

peachsmama Putting food out for them is a bad idea, unless you want them around. Raccoons can cause a lot of damage to your home, getting in places you don't want them. They also carry diseases that they can spread to your dogs or your kids. I would try to make sure there is no food outside at all for them to have access to so that the move on down the road. If you move food to the woods for them, it will only attract more of them to your area.

They saw at least 5-6 coming to eat the cat food they'd leave out. It took a good 3-4 weeks for them to stop dropping by the house at night to see if there was any food out.

The dog food is the only one not in a metal can and the only one they are targeting. I'm just going to buy a metal can and secure all the lids with bungee cords and hope they get frustrated and leave. I won't put out extra food for them. I don't want them moving in closer to the house. I didn't think about that. I just want to feed the babies lol.

Normally my Dad would trap them and relocate, then a new set come in the next season. I'm not dealing with it, to be honest. I'm there every couple of weeks for only a few days at a time. We are going to be selling the house "as is" more than likely to just an investor who wants to finish it out/repair it to sell for themselves, so in short, no, I'm not messing with them for now. "As is" includes all raccoon families.
