Last weekend when we were out of town, I had a bit too much wine and not enough food so I woke up extremely hungover. I couldn’t eat anything and had only a little water before our 4 hour drive back home.
Well the pass we took was extremely curvy and windy, and about an hour in I got car sick and had to pull over to puke on the side of the road. It was so awful.

I just realized a few weeks ago that Costco and Cosco are 2 totally different companies. I 100% believed Costco was the one making all those car seats. I... uh... was today years old when I found this out as well.

I’ll also confess that I stopped wearing my retainer after about a year and now my bottom teeth are back to being crooked. Sorry mom and dad for undoing $$$ worth of othodontics. At least the top ones are straight!

I still have my wisdom teeth which have moved all of my perfectly straight teeth.
My confession is I have a cotton ball/cotton pad phobia and the thought of them even packing gauze in there has prevented me from getting those bad boys taken out. DNW gauze or cotton ANYWHERE near my teeth.

I think there's a way to be frustrated that people are deliberately staying in harms way, which then in turn puts first responders at risk and uses a lot of resources, AND be sympathetic to their situation at the same time.

When we moved I decided we needed new towels and sheets because the ones we were using were.... from our wedding registry. We got married 8.5 years ago. I still have towels my mom gave me when I moved out. I moved out at 23. I'm 35.

Mine for today is that, at the height of my laziness last night, I paid 50€ to have an 89€ ikea crib delivered.

Yes. I think it depends a bit on your perspective. If I’m looking at a situation such as that as a wife of a first responder, I’m a little bit like, damn that’s frustrating. But, it’s also a shitty situation and I have sympathy. It can be both.

To be clear, I am sympathetic to the situation in general. I cannot imagine losing everything I own and not knowing what, if anything, would be there whenever I was able to return to my home. What they're going through is generally awful.
But I'm listening to mayors of towns talk about people who didn't listen to evacuation orders, aren't following curfews, are driving around... and I just can't believe that first responders have to now put themselves in harm's way.

I am here, I think. I don't want people to die, but I don't think it's "gross" to be frustrated that people ignored many, many warnings, and then call for help, putting first responders at risk. Perhaps, though, my frustration comes from the fact that I come from a family of first responders, and I see it from that end, too. Also, before anyone starts listing a million reasons why people didn't evacuate, I know there are legitimate reasons. BUT, there are plenty of stubborn people who had the means to leave and just didn't.

At least the top ones are straight! I did this too, but it's my own money I wasted since I got invisalign as an adult. I need to go back but I am shamed. do you still have your aligners? because (confession) I am just cramming my teeth into my old aligners at night as a punishment to myself for wasting all that money and not keeping up with the retainers. it actually is working - the aligners fit better and better as i'm wearing them and I'm wearing like #30 of 32 or something so they are straight. it's painful though.

gimmeaQ, there are people that do not have the resources to evacuate. Not everyone has cars to leave or the money to stay in a motel or family to go to. I know that this probably accounts for a small group of people, but there are people that aren't just being willfully disobedient.

We are anticipating an extended power outage after getting the outer bands of Florence this weekend. h mentioned he might finish up some carpentry on a bathroom refresh. I asked him how he planned to do that since we are likely to not have power. He informed me he would use the cordless power tools that I bought for him. Smh.

But, I do agree that you can be frustrated with the people that have the means and ways to leave and do not.

You do realize that a lot of those that are staying are because they literally don't have the money/resources to go elsewhere right. Like leaving for weeks costs money. Sure it is safer to do it, but............

I think the group of people is bigger than most would think, but it is easy for all of us who aren't in it to assume everyone can leave

Just because they aren't saying that they aren't leaving due to money or resources?

I find the actively watching coverage and feeling no sympathy at all gross, for the record. not at all what I said

Sure it is safer to do it, but............ I don't think these are the people she means. I am sure, but do we know their bank accounts. I feel like people have their reasons for staying and I will feel sympathy that they are even in the position of having to leave all their stuff etc or staying with their stuff and hoping that it isn't as bad as it says.

Yeah, I get you, I just also understand the frustration when rescuers end up in even more danger because of it. But I do feel sympathy, it's just mixed with the frustration. I get this I do, but rescuers are trained for this and I am sorry that it puts them in danger, but I can't be frustrated with people going through something like this.
