This kind of reminds me of Turkish weddings. DH is from a ridiculously wealthy Turkish family and their events are as OTT as can be. All the outfits are handmade and as cutting edge fashion as possible with three or four outfit changes per wedding. They drip with diamonds and are all so so pretty. I used to feel so plain, even when I thought I was dressed to the nines, I was nowhere in the same universe. Now, 10 years later, I just dress in what I feel pretty in and sit back and wathc the amazing Turksih fashions like it is my own red carpet. I take pics and send them to my mom and we dish over how gorgeous the clothes are. I’m sure no one is judging you, either. I used to feel like that at Chaldean weddings, although it’s not that extreme. But everyone is so into what they are wearing, they don’t even notice what I have on.

My only experience with luxury SUVs is my friends recently bought an Audi SUV because they are looking to have kids relatively soon and it had spacious trunk space with 3 rows of seats and could fit all the baby gear yada, yada. The looks on their faces when they realized DDs stroller didn't fit in the trunk with the 3 row of seats up was priceless. The trunk being about to fit a double stroller with all three rows up is basically #2 on my must have list after 2nd row bucket seats. MH was trying to get me to buy that tiny Tesla “suv” that has literally no trunk and I loled him so hard. How about a bike though? You can haul a double trailer.

Follow up: if another question is do people sometimes use recommendation threads to shame people who want to spend money the answer is also yes. I would wager most of this is out of jealousy. Not angry jealousy, but wistful jealousy. I get jealous, but it also makes me happy to see people I consider nice people getting nice things. It is okay to feel multiple ways about this. For me it’s probably jealousy combined with truly not being able to imagine that I’d ever be able to spend $x on y thing. But as I’ve aged and as my paychecks have increased I’ve spent certain amounts of money on things I never, ever would have dreamed (houses, cars, clothes, whatever). I think it’s something about being able to relate to whoever is posting and imagine myself in their shoes, and sometimes that’s a lot easier imaginging than other times. So when I can’t relate, my thought is “boy, can’t/wouldn’t do that!” whether it’s about spending money or not. “Ran 17 Miles today!” is equally jealousy/unrelatelable for me.

But they are ugly though... I've always hated the navigator's looks but saw a brand new one the other day in a smoky blue, omg😍 The new ones are gorgeous. We were in line for one and backed out to get something less expensive and I have regrets every time I see one. We were going to get the deep blue.

We're talking 6 inches deep unless you get the xl or esv versions. Like not even groceries...it stinks. Yes this is my issue that I talked about in the thread. I need an ESV but I feel like that’s too big. So I may just get another Lexus that I already have. Which I love so much that I have to recommend to all of you. :: troll ::

After thinking about it, I don't mind the higher $$ recs. Our budget is flexible and maybe not THAT flexible, but it gives me different things to look at.

Cher, you should get the Escalade in black. I used to be all white vehicles all the time, but my black heart has overtaken even that aspect. If I did black, everyone would think I’m a driver. I think I want icy silver.

Sometimes I think multiple threads about the same thing get started because people don’t necessarily read through whole threads to realize they’ve evolved into something other than the original topic unless they become huge threads.

My Pacifica fits a double and an umbrella stroller in the trunk!

Well otherwise we would never talk to you. Not true. I also get @ when someone brings up hitler. Like 99% of my tags are related to Gluten or Hitler. This would be a great SN for you. @glutenorhitler

I can’t get an Escalade because literally every one of MH’s cousins has one and they look so ridiculous parking at events. I can’t contribute to that nonsense. One cousin has two!

The SUV thread reminded me that I miss driving mine. H still hasn’t replaced his totaled car, so he drives mine. My mom can’t drive anymore so I drive her Subaru Forrester. It is newer and nice, but I have decided it is a glorified station wagon. I think H and I will switch cars soon. I am just jumping in and it seems as though SUVs are still the topic.

If they have zero kids right now, they will find they will flip that 3rd row up maybe 1x a year, if that. At least I did.

I really need my kids to get out of car seats so I can get something bomb without considering the car seat situation.

My Pacifica fits a double and an umbrella stroller in the trunk! Is that an SUV or minivan? It’s a minivan. And it’s been incredibly convenient for the last few years with three small kids. But now that the older two can get themselves in and out of their seats, it’s time to go back to an SUV.

I remember when someone on my first BMB seemed to feel deeply, personally attacked when I suggested an Uglywhere chair (PBK anywhere chair knockoff) to someone else who didn't have the budget for the real thing.

If the handbag thread has evolved, someone please let me know. What would you like it to evolve to? It’s a thread about handbags. Every price and style is being discussed at this point.

I always find it odd when we have threads asking for recommendations on (small and large) purchases and posters post an item that is so far out of the price range of what has been posted and what the OP suggests is in their budget. For example... OP: Any recommendations on SUVs? I’ve been looking at the Toyota Highlander, Hyundai whatever they are called, and the Pilot. Poster: I love my Audi/Mercedes/Lexus/etc. ... I just never understand what these responses are about. I believe it’s a UO because nobody ever speaks on it in the particular threads, but it happens enough for me to call on it. I spoke on it before and I was told I was PHFTS.
I am always fascinated by these posts.

It goes both ways though. Like when I posted my handbag thread, I think my budget was $300-$600 or something and people were posting less than $100 bags. I’m like, “That is not what I requested”. Although... I did get a Madewell after my TB so, thank you. But still!! And look what happened in seaword’s handbag thread. It started with a lot of “I would never!” And by page 446, the reasonable people were copping designer bags. I feel some people peer pressured themselves to cop the bags. Only they themselves know the answer to that. JMO
