That's really sweet dapostrophe. S has been asking for a pet but I am not in a position where I want to take care of one. I wonder if he would like that. Yes, I think that would be perfect! The "experience" part of it is what made it more fun IMO.

The "experience" part of it is what made it more fun IMO. I'd think so too. He already treats his stuffed animals like they are real (stops playing to give them snacks, etc.) I'll have to look into this! I think I am done with gifts for Birthday but we still need stuff for Hannukah/Christmas.

So my big Santa present was going to be to convert the train table to a lego table. I wanted it to be some kind of platfrom in the middle with space on the side to basically dump/slide off the legos. Problem is that I would have to do the construction and we don't have tools for cutting wood and time to do it. Well brilliant me thought of a genius idea. I can take a rubbermade tote lid and glue the Lego squares to it! (still in middle of train table). And the bonus is that it is light enough to be moved into another room if desired. I think I am going to ride this genius idea high for a few days.

They weren’t that expensive if you could find a roll or two of those it would make it easier than gluing individual Lego pieces.

Not for kids, but if you have bird/nature lovers in your family this could make a nice gift, I bought a metal red robin for my grandma. The stupid website keeps redirecting me to the Dutch site, but I’m sure if you google metal birds you’ll find it.

Sunny41 I looks really cool! The only thing that would make me hesitant is that refills look really expensive...

@wine, any favorite science kits that C got that you (and he) would recommend? With your yard you should think about something like an outdoor adventure kit. Something that yo can put bugs in and a butterfly net and look at tracks. We got E one for our backyard/farm field. It's just been to muddy since his birthday to go use it www.amazon.com/dp/B07HJ3CSX2/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07HJ3CSX2

For the little Rembrandt’s in your life.... These are amazing! They draw on anything....whiteboard, chalkboard, paper, walls, whatever. But even better is that it washes off everything easily too! S has started getting....adventurous...in her drawing. And she’s colored on some things she wasn’t supposed to. Comes off super easy! I got rid of all the markers except color wonder markers in my house and am just using these for her now.

resurrecting this thread for a question. I am done with everything for Hannukah, but realized that I usually drop a gift off at my BFF's house for the boys so she can wrap it in her santa paper since we spend Christmas at her house (we tell the boys that although Santa doesn't come to our house, he knows that they were good this year so when he is dropping presents off at their house, he leaves something for them).
Anyway, it's usually something small but I want something that theoretically he can open and play with right away at their house, so no legos which is my usual go to.
Any ideas (for S)? Something in the $10 - $30 range.

If she doesn’t mind the mess, playdoh is always fun. You can do a boardgame the boys can play together or a puzzle. Josie asked for a marble run, so I have that that for her. I’m pretty sure it’s playable right away to construct and send the marbles down.

Does anyone have a kids camera? Any recs? I am thinking digital so we don't spend a ton on film for the Polaroid type, but I do think he'd love the instant gratification.

Oooh I have this on the kids as well, but everytime I go to buy I just imagine how quickly they’ll go through the polorid sheets or them asking me to print off, it stops me everytime.

I have an Instax and film is expensive, but the kids love it! It is fun to take to the zoo or something, so that at the end of the day they have their own little picture book.

H has a hand me down vtech one that is probably 8 years old. It’s digital and she loves taking pictures with it. It only holds 100 so I have to clean it off (either delete or move to my computer) periodically. It has a viewfinder on the back so she can see the pics. She can also take pics with her kindle fire if she wants. Eta: this is the newer version VTech Kidizoom Camera Pix, Blue (Frustration Free Packaging) www.amazon.com/dp/B01FMK17TK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GL.cCbNZ8PMFP

tallb, we have an old version of the same one trtlcrzy has. It's probably the same one actually, since it's about 8-10 years old too. S played with it all the time, but rarely does anymore. B just recently picked it up and has started playing with it. It has a few little games on it S plays with his smart watch (which also takes pics & has games) ALL the time. He got it for his 3rd birthday and it's still a hit.

This is the one I've been eyeing but the games included are a real turn off. I think we are going to go with one that just takes pix and video that seems comparable.
