I just ordered coordinating shirts for DS's first birthday for him and big sis. Naturally I had to come here and tell yall.  They're going to be super cute though. |

Taitai , OMG! I didn;t know Chickalicious was a chain? There's one in East Village in nyc and I love going there for a late night dessert. They have awesome dessert selections. Such good memories back in the day with my buddies. I know that Chickalicious in NYC very well. So, there’s one in NYC and one in Japan (Tokyo I think). The one here is franchised - so it’s not under management from the original Japanese chef who opened the NYC and Tokyo ones. However- the execution is pretty much the same, and it’s definitely my favorite bakery out here. Also - I’m convinced if you and I got together for a day of fun - we’d eat everything and love it all, because we have the same taste 🤣😀 Yaaaassss! we'd eat all the food! SaveSave |

Just out of curiosity is anyone getting presents for baby? If so what are you getting? I feel bad so I wanted to get something small - I was thinking like a rain stick. He loves toys that make sounds and it isn't annoying. I also happened upon this activity center for a bargain at a kids resale a few months back and we don't have one so I figured it ouwld be ok. It's used but in great shape plus baby don't care. I am actually wondering if he might be too little yet since he can't pull up to stand yet.  |

duskymonkey Maybe it will be incentive for him to start pulling up. We have this one and have got a lot of use out of it.

I’ve already been asked what people should get as a present. I’m not sure and feel extra pressure since Christmas is just 2 months after her birthday. I’m thinking some more books and maybe some bath toys on the list.

I am just going to tell people no gifts for his birthday and to just come and enjoy and celebrate him turning 1. We've been doing that for DS and people have been bring him cards although by next year I think I am going to have to allow his friends to bring presents - I think kids like to bring something to their friend's bday party. I know DS will eventually love to pick out presents for his friends.

I have a dilemma, I am leaning more to having people over around 130-3 which means it's sorta after lunch because I think lil fella will be too distracted to eat his lunch properly and he usually doesn't eat lunch till about 1-130. I just feel bad not serving people proper food. I can't even do an afternoon tea which actually fared well with DS since lil fella's afternoon nap starts around 3. I mean I am thinking of a cheese plate with nuts and dried fruits, guacamole and chips, fruit salad and possibly 2 cakes maybe some smoke salmon teas sandwiches. Should I make something more? I am thinking it;s like right after lunch and people wouldnt be too hungry and wouldnt eat much. Help!

August Blooms, that activity cube is so cute! I had wanted to get one for DS but couldn't justify the cost. Had I known lil fella was joining us I would definitely have gotten one. I am really stoked I found one at the resale for a super good price and it practically looks brand new. You are right he could begin to start pulling up. Just yesterday, hubs caught him pulling up to stand in his crib.

So I just looked through some pictures from my sister's SD card when she was here and there were pictures from DS' first bday! I didn't have any pictures cos I was running around like a crazed person and barely got his cake done. He had a Daniel Tiger cake. It came out ok.  I also made a Pooh and friend's bday cake fore my nephew's first bday.  I now feel compelled to make lil fella's cake pretty awesome. Got my work cut out. SaveSave |

duskymonkey I think your food plans for the party sound good to me! I’m not a huge food at parties kind of person though (I normally just talk talk talk and don’t really eat), so I might not be the best person to advise you on that. Did you make all those Pooh characters for the cake?!? Omg - you are an artist! That Tigger is seriously amazing. I am sure whatever cake you make for LO will be awesome.

We have a big wooden cube thing with the beads along the top. Got it used when DS1 was a baby. He played with it forever and DS2 loves it now too. |

Oh man. DS2 is ONE!! Eek. We had his party this past Saturday. I made him a mini cake for today BUT I didn't realize until late yesterday that I didn't have any powdered sugar for icing. So we're stopping at the store today to get some so I can finish his little smash cake and do pictures later. Here's from the party ![]() *poof* He has his check up today actually so I'll have better stats but last week he was at the pedi because he had strep and he was 20 lbs 7 oz. |

duskymonkey we are low-key with early birthdays/holidays but I did get LO a wee baby stella baby doll and a little stroller that doubles as a walker. My mom asked what to get her and I told her clothes/pjs.

Taitai, Except for piglet and part of Pooh which my sister made, I made all the friends. I love it, I wish I could make stuff for a living....I kinda sorta do ( I am a package designer ) but I much rather work with my hands. Maybe when the kiddos are older I can have a studio in the basement and get back to making art. Dreams...

thatgirlrachel, that's super cute! I think I might get the boys coordinating christmas outfits. My mom used to dress me and my sister in the same outfit for lunar new year every year until my sister was like 15/16 Then my sister left home @ 17 for college.
