I'm not ready for summer traffic to end! The university near where I live starts move-in tomorrow. Mine started moving in this past weekend. Ugh.

The ONLY positive of DHs injury is he sees how exhausting and high maintenance DD2 is.
DH does a lot around the house plus works full time and in a graduate school program but I swear some days he thinks I have it easier. He has never vocalized it but I can tell.
He definitely is experiencing a day in the life of a non sleeping infant.

Germany is beautiful and very compact (I'm near the top and can drive through to the bottom in about 8 hrs). So it's easy to visit a lot of beautiful and interesting towns. If you ever make it over you're basically guaranteed to have an amazing time! I have a friend who fell in love with a German guy in college and she moved back to Germany with him afterwards (they are now married with 5 or 6 kids) and just moved back home in the last couple of years. She said she absolutely loved it over there. All of her kids have German names and you can tell she really soaked in the culture there.

Finished the floor! Made good time too.
Now for my coffee and then a shower.
We are listening to music while DD plays in her playroom. The last few days she has really been having fun in there again. I guess it hasn't been on our radar during the summer as we are always outside playing.
I still need to finish her mantle on the little electric fireplace I put in there, I can't wait for her to be able to decorate it for Christmas (which she is still constantly talking about)!

Back to work today, I just keep thinking of all the things I could be doing at the house.

As someone living in the Netherlands, I respectfully disagree that Germany is “very compact” 😁 But it is a beautiful country, I loved every place we’ve been to. Adding Hamburg to the list of places to go to in future.

Are car lines regional? Or just something I'm not aware of because my kid isn't school-aged? I hadn't heard of them where I grew up - everyone took the bus. But here, you have to walk or take the city bus/metro unless you fit some special circumstances. A lot of people walk/bus/metro, but some schools will have a car line a very specific process (enter near X Street and exit near Y Street) because traffic here is crazy enough without adding school car lines. In the more suburban school districts I've worked with outside the city, they are split between parking and car line with teachers greeting students at the cars. Parking means you need to have more than just staff parking available, and car line cuts down on accidents in the parking lot or situations where a parent drops the kid off but the kid doesn't walk in the building. The only pattern I've noticed is if a school has a lot of students walking from nearby houses/apartments, they will not have a car line. We have a lot of elementary school teachers in the family but it's not something I've heard talked about. It makes sense that urban/suburban/rural makes a difference.

Did not realize that chickens need to get the hang of laying eggs. +1 I guess it can be likened to humans learning to walk.

I would say more like when we hit puberty and our periods are kinda all over the place as our body learns what it’s supposed to be doing. I expected to have the eggs be but or miss but this threw me for a loop.

Good morning. I’m sitting here at the doctors waiting to be called back. Coffee has not sounded good so I’m basically a walking zombie.

I’m blowing up Ds1’s room. That kid keeps every scrap of paper he comes in contact with. He’s excited to rearrange the furniture, though.

DS’s school has a separate carline for kindergarteners, so there’s not really a line in the mornings. H usually takes him in the mornings and has commented on the carline for the other grades, so I guess it will be worse next year.

Hi, I'm new here. I live in upstate NY with my DH and 2 DDs who are 5 and 2. I was part of the SAHM board on TheDump and after all the banning, we moved to DWP on GBCN, but the board sort of died anyway and I just kept up with everyone on FB. A few weeks ago I was put on bed rest, went and checked the old board and yep- still dead. I hope you'll have me. I like nerdy stuff, outdoorsy stuff, musical theater, arts and crafts... I don't drink much because of my illness but I very much enjoy spending time in the garage (am I using that right?) Welcome back! I’ve actually been thinking of you, and I’m happy to see you here.

My brother bought my daughter the whole Harry Potter series for her birthday. We have never been Harry Potter people. I guess I'll be starting the first book now.

I am counting down until I can introduce my DD to the first book Im debating if R is old enough yet. He’ll be 6 in January. We might start then.
