I know several people have mentioned getting back to or trying new workouts lately, and a few people have mentioned new diets too.
What are you doing? How’s it going?

I'm marathon training and still going to baby boot camp a couple days a week. I ran 14 miles on my treadmill a couple of days ago. Talk about tough, yeesh. I've been following IIFYM for my diet too. That's tracking macronutrient intake (carbs, fats, protein). I've been seeing a great downward trend on my weight and a pretty impressive body recomposition. I'm happy with this diet and can see doing it long term through maintenance too if I get to my goal weight eventually. I was pretty loose with my diet at first but H is back on the wagon too so the last like month and a half have been a lot better and easier for me to stick with which is resulting a bit quicker loss and more visible musculat definition. Here is six month's difference with consistent working out and semi consistent diet. I'm hoping with tightening up my macros more I'll drop the last 20lbs and really lean out with muscle.

I’ve been doing good with minimal sugar and no grains (until pizza tonight...) and have been running roughly 20 miles a week. The scale isn’t moving still, but I see changes in muscle tone.
I’ve got a half marathon in October, so in a few weeks, I’ll start upping my weekly long run mileage. With starting school again at the same time, I’ll go back to alternating running with BBM or kettlebell workout days.

I’m back on my “avoid white carbs” and limit other carbs, which is based on the advice of my doctor. I forgot how much better I feel when I eat this way - more energy, less sluggish.
I’m trying to increase workouts, which means more running with a stroller with the occasional barre class (I try not to leave DH with all 3 while I workout). We got a used jogging stroller that is older; if we bob like / continue to run with it, we’ll probably look for a reasonably priced newer one.
Since I started my diet (about 1 month ago), I’m down about 5-7 lbs. But mainly, my body feels better and it makes me want to workout more.

I am also doing IIFYM. I had the woman that runs the postpartum and BFing specific page professionally calculate my macros back in June, and I started seeing (pretty slow) weight loss almost immediately. I took a 2 week hiatus from careful counting when we went to visit family, but I am back at it now. Weight has been pretty stagnant, but I have also not had much time at all for exercise. I am squeezing it in wherever I can, usually Peloton, strength, or HIIT. But between work and kids, I am just so tired most days.
I am below pre DD2 weight but still have a lot of work to do to get to pre DD1 weight. I am actually okay taking it slow, because I am doing it in a sustainable way. I have a glass of wine almost every day and I don't want to give that up. 😂

I’ve been doing weight watchers. It’s okay, but some things are difficult to track so I get annoyed with that. I’ve kind of been holding steady at my pre-pregnancy weight but I’ve still got about 40 lbs to get to where I’d like to be. I actually just decided the other day that I want to train for a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving. I’m not much of a runner, but I like to run. It’s a 5 mile race and I did it in ~50 minutes a few years ago which was great for me. I try to get to the gym 2 times a week to do weights but it’s hard to find the time/motivation to actually go. It might be easier to sneak out for runs.

pootsen, i run a 5 miler on Thanksgiving, and it’s my favorite race every year. For me, running outside is easier than trips to the gym because of cutting out the travel time. All summer I’ve meant to renew my membership so that I can put E in the gym daycarecand use the treadmill on super hot days, but I haven’t bothered. I go back to work in two weeks, so it’s probably not going to happen. I’ll just keep stroller running.

Anyone do intermittent fasting? I think the temptation of food would be too hard to start while on summer break, but I’m thinking of trying once I’m back at work. I’m 3lbs down from my pre baby weight, but the scale is hardly moving, so i want to try something new.
At work, my lunch isn’t until 1:00, but we have snack time for the kids at 11, so I could possibly have something small then and have two meals prior to 7pm.
Any thoughts/advice?

I used to eat like that in high school. Nothing before 11am and nothing after 7pm. It worked well for me, but I also had an eating disorder, soooooooo, take my opinion on it with all the grains of salt.

Hi. I need to get on this. I’ve had two people in the last month congratulate me on my pregnancy 😡 I’m 15 lbs above my ideal weight and apparently carrying most of it in my belly.
I joined a step challenge at work so right now my main activity goal is walking 10,000+ steps per day. I actually have to make an effort to hit it so I guess my activity level was lower than I thought. I’d love to lift or run twice a week but am having trouble getting into a routine.
I stress eat and feel too stressed to really diet right now so my eating goal is to not pound a bag of m&ms every time I get the urge. Counting calories generally works for me but I feel like it takes over my life and I’m trying to simplify my life right now, not add to it.

This is only based on observation of a coworker. She did this for three months...and was very unpleasant in the mornings. Like dictionary definition of hangry. But other people seem to do it no problem.

cnf, that's an amazing difference, well done you!!! I am back on the diet wagon for the umpteenth time. The weather has been crazy warm here since May so we've been living it up having aperitif pretty much every day, going for long lunches and ice creams and skipping runs/workouts... So, I'm taking things slow as not to hate life too much and we're on day 2 of no alcohol during the week, salads for lunch and lean protein/lower carb meals at night. I also escaped for a 30 minute swim at lunch, which was wonderful. I've missed exercise. I need to get back into a proper workout routine to get the flabby bits firmed up again.

I think I finally convinced DH to buy a treadmill. As much as I’d like to walk/“run” outside, there is just no way it’s going to happen. I find it very hard to do with 3 kids and I really don’t have anywhere to leave them consistently. Maybe when DS1 goes back to school in fall and DD will be in preschool 2 mornings a week. But I’ll see. There is only one gym in town I’d consider joining (and probably the only one my BIL’s would let me 😂😂 they own it), but I’m super intimidated by it to be honest. So I don’t know.

After dinner I ate an ice cream sandwich, chocolate covered coconut almonds, and a little pack of mini chocolate chip muffins that didn’t even taste good. What’s wrong with me?! I need a detox.

Checking in. Only got 2 workouts in this week - I have to figure out a weekday plan because I cannot cram a week’s worth of exercise into the weekend.
But a quick AW moment (I think I used that correctly, still not sure what it stands for) - best run with stroller yet. I ran more like my normal pace (normal post baby pace) and it felt better. Not good, but getting there. I just need to work on distance now.
Anyone have tips for becoming a morning workout person? I have a treadmill/would run outside if I could just motivate myself to get out of bed earlier.

It feels good to start to feel more like your normal self, doesn’t it? I don’t have much advice about morning workouts with kids, but before E, during the fall and spring, I’d run outside before work. I’d lay my clothes (running and work clothes) out the night before and I’d be able to get a quick 2-3 miles before showering most mornings. Now, I think it might be too much since I’m on my own to get us out of the house, and I have to leave a bit earlier to get her into daycare.

Thanks bethkate! I have some flexibility at work, so maybe I go in a little later one day a week to get in a run... It does feel good. Almost good enough to try to go out for another run 🤣

If you even give yourself a moment's pause you'll talk yourself out of it. It's hard at but stick with it for a couple weeks and it gets easier. I love morning workouts. They don't take any time away from my day, the isn't an entire day's worth of excuses to fall back on, and you're more likely to eat better the rest of the day.

cnf, +1 to all of that! I love having my workout done right away and not having to worry about it when I’m tired and busy after work. It’s also nice to hit my 10,000 steps first thing in the morning. It definitely motivates me to keep moving the rest of the day.

doxiemama hi life twin! cnf nice work! Did you calculate your own macros? I sit here. I recently renewed my Noom membership and had them reset me to day one. Of course I am somehow up 3 lbs from yesterday. I didn't magically expect to be down but wasn't expecting a gain. I still haven't gotten a PP yet so I'm sure that played in to it. I know what I need to do diet wise, what I need to do is exercise. I want to start Couch to 5 K again and find some videos I can do in the morning. I need things I can do at home with minimal equipment.

So I’ve decided to start getting up at 4:30 to use my treadmill. I was getting up at that time to pump in the spring. So it shouldn’t be a huge deal to start again. Unfortunately, E has decided to get up at 3:45 yesterday and 3:00 today. I couldn’t get myself to get on the treadmill. I’m not off to a good start.

Talk to me about BBM workouts. Am I right to assume this is Bikini Body Mommy? Do you just choose a challenge and follow along? All I need to start are 5lb weights and a yoga mat?
