Does anyone have a great recommendation for scratches (surface, not deep) and some sun fade on dark engineered hardwood? I ordered a kit from Amazon. I can get you the link. I was so impressed I did a review online. It came with the crayons and the markers.

This is something super small but really helps me. I try to double batch whatever I am cooking and freeze half. This way I only cook about 3 dinners a week and the rest of the time I just have to heat it up. It took a couple weeks to have a decent variety, but now it is so much easier and I don't have to come up with dinner ideas all the time.* *I usually just do entrees and leave veggies for day of. How do you freeze the food? Does this mean you eat the same thing again in the same week? It doesn't taste funny?

McBenny no I usually just do meat, so if I do BBQ chicken or carnitas etc. I pull it out for the following week. Sometimes I do chicken broth or fritatas, but for the most part I stick to main dishes. I have a pretty good cycle of dishes and it saves me quite a bit of time. Usually the meat portion of the dish is what takes the longest and I can steam some veggies quick.

I do this too. I just freeze it in my Rubbermaid plastic containers or glass pyrex depending on what it is. Chili, tomato sauce, pulled pork, and soup are my go to large batch recipes. McBenny what is your cleaning schedule? It moves around because I do the quick things on my busier nights or the nights my shows are on. I can share what the norm has been. Monday - kitchen, floors (the whole downstairs) Tuesday - living room, my desk top Wednesday - downstairs bathroom Thursday - laundry room, dog kennels Friday - family room (MH does this) carpet - I vacuum upstairs except kids' rooms and family room entry Saturday - the kids rooms, they do this on their own kids's bathroom Sunday - our room, our bathroom

For chicken legs and wings, I season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder and bake them until they are just cooked. Then freeze them on a tray and transfer to Ziploc bags. To reheat them I toss them in BBQ sauce and pop them in the oven.
Cooked sausage also freezes well.

Any recommendations for getting your laundry to smell fresher? My towels are the worst but I feel like it’s starting with clothes too. Fairly new top loading smart washer. I use Tide, no fabric softener. Hottest water possible on towels. I run a clean cycle with some Lemi-shine detergent regularly on the washer. I’ve tried washing the towels in vinegar. We use a water softener. Idk what I’m missing? I’ve been using the Rockin’ Green Active Wear detergent on our towels (honestly on all the laundry) and it’s awesome. Everything just seems cleaner. No scent or softener, just clean.

I use my steam mop on all my floors (porcelain tile, vinyl tile, hardwood, and laminate). I make a floor spray of vinegar, baking soda, hot water, and blue dawn. I spray that on all floors except the hardwood and then steam mop. So far it hasn’t caused any chaos.
Barkeepers friend seems to get out a lot of crap.
I use scent boosters in my laundry now. I really like it, ok? After years of sensitive and scent free everything, let me have my moment.
I put down baking soda and an EO on my carpets before I vacuum.
This is probably lame, but it helped me. I changed around my shelf situation in the fridge so that I only have wide shelves going straight across. It’s been much easier to put whatever I need to, no matter the size, right into it. I also put all leftovers in clear containers so I can easily see what’s still in there to use it or toss it.

I need this thread. I have these awful kitchen cupboards that are Impossible to clean. Fingerprints never really disappear and they always look streaky. Any tips? I have this problem too and find that most cleaners leave it looking worse. Rubbing them down with a very slightly damp microfiber cloth works best for mine. Just tried it and the fingerprints won’t come off. Luckily we’re moving in 2 years and this won’t be my problem anymore.

What do you guys use to clean your couches? Our dogs are home all day while we're at work, (2 doxies) they have a dog door and can come and go as they please but they hang out on the couch a lot, we already vacuum it frequently but it needs a deeper clean. Any suggestions? What kind of material is it? Deep clean like stains, or smells? This isn't deep cleaning, but if they're on the couches all day, I'd get a couch cover, at least for the seat cushions. Or pillows/dog beds you can easily move and wash - my small animals go nuts for laying on soft things on my couches.

I use my steam mop on our wood laminate. So far so good. I’m not terribly invested in the floors, tho, since they are inexpensive and we can replace a section if damaged. ETA: They are also sealed and marketed as waterproof.

Any suggestions? my mom has a carpet washer that we borrow periodically to clean our sofas and area rugs. we have microfiber sofas. it's amazing/disgusting the amount of dirt it pulls out. i think it's worth the investment (about $100) since it's like $40 to rent the rug doctor. if she hadn't gotten one i think we would have bought our own.

I got the iLife version of a roomba on prime day and it has been such a game changer for us. I run it everyday for about 30ish minutes. The amount of dust/dog hair it picks up everyday is horrifying! It’s amazing what damage two dogs can do in a day. I am glad to hear this. There are two Roomba knock off my youtube cleaners recommend and this one was one of them. I am still wondering if I should get one or not.

We have an upright deep freezer in our garage (way better than a chest freezer and worth the extra cost). I try to make double of some things (meatloaf) and freeze half too, or do bulk batches of meat sauce, homemade bread, etc. As long as the package is reasonably air tight and in a deep freeze it will be fine for several months. The regular freezer makes the food bad by the constant defrosting cycles where the food changes temperatures. It isn't the freezing itself, although some foods don't freeze well regardless.

dc2london how do you keep the rice you cook from hardening? We eat rice 2-3 times a week, if I could pre cook that’d be great. I just store it in Pyrex with tight fitting lids. I wouldn't cook it more than a couple of days ahead (if I did, I would freeze it). I haven't had a problem with it hardening. When mine gets dry I add a tablespoon of water before microwaving. It re-steams it and softens it back up. ETA: I'm late to the game and see this has already been covered.

We both doubted its ability to pick up all the dog hair (her dog is at our house frequently and has longer hair) but it really does an amazing job. I would recommend it for anyone with pets. I don't have pets but OMG the crumbs in the kitchen. And no matter how frequently and well you sweep, brooms never get 100% of the crumbs. I would like a robot vacuum to cruise around the kitchen a few times a day instead of me.

They go out side and lay in bark dust and then when we get home we're having to vacuum the couch. We should put the dog beds on there. That's a really good idea. They are small. Its just starting to get that dog smell and needs a deep clean

Give me your best shower cleaning spray. I feel like i'm constantly scrubbing my shower down and sweating my ass off as I do it. It's not tile, just fiber glass. Help me. 1 cup vinegar and one cup blue dawn. Spray it down and leave it. Come back and scrub rinse and done. This mix keeps stuff from getting dirty easy. I will be doing this Saturday then!

Do you happen to remember which model of the iLife you got? Need to put it on my Amazon wish. This one. ILIFE V3s Pro Robotic Vacuum, Newer Version of V3s, Pet Hair Care, Powerful Suction Tangle-free, Slim Design, Auto Charge, Daily Planning, Good For Hard Floor and Low Pile Carpet www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y56NDF4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_a8YxBbF77A984I have this one too! I used to have a Neato (that finally died) and would definitely recommend the Neato over this one. However, for the price, this one is awesome and I have no regrets. Signed, two golden retrievers
