I have a question. How does everyone clean their floors? Old fashioned mop and bucket? Swiffer? I spray a floor cleaner and use a rag on my hands and knees but I think maybe that’s weird. I don’t want to use Swiffer because of waste. We have a house cleaner starting and I don’t really know what’s normal. Steam mop over here

Using Clorox toilet cleaner cling gel on my bathroom grout has been the biggest of game changers.

Give me your best shower cleaning spray. I feel like i'm constantly scrubbing my shower down and sweating my ass off as I do it. It's not tile, just fiber glass. Help me. 1 cup vinegar and one cup blue dawn. Spray it down and leave it. Come back and scrub rinse and done. This mix keeps stuff from getting dirty easy.

Does it need to be specifically the blue Dawn or would the purple work?

my absolute favorite way to spend a Sunday is for H and I to meal plan over coffee Sunday morning, then I clean out the fridge to see if there's anything we need to use up and take stock of what we need from the store (I also wipe down the shelves and drawers with vinegar at this time). I make my list during MtP commercial breaks, then I shop (ALONE!) for the week. once I get home I pour myself a glass of wine, turn on one of my favorite podcasts or some good music and spend the rest of the afternoon doing the prep cooking for the week. Our evenings get a bit hectic so it's great to have everything chopped, diced, etc ahead of time. I typically prep something for Monday's dinner that I can just heat up (a chicken pot pie, a lasagna, enchiladas, a dump IP dinner, etc). I'll cook whatever quinoa or rice we need for the week, make smoothie packs for C's breakfast smoothies, portion out fruit for school lunches, etc. I get everything put away neatly in my nice clean fridge, tidy up and go to bed knowing that I've made the week ahead much easier. Listening to podcasts keeps me so much more motivated during meal prep and/or cleaning. I love it! I listen to music or watch YouTube cleaning videos with my Bluetooth ear buds.

Using Clorox toilet cleaner cling gel on my bathroom grout has been the biggest of game changers. Just be careful with this. It actually stained the sanded grout in asshole landlord's house blue. He was like, "WTF?" I said, "Listen: it's clean. And you're the idiot who used sanded grout in a shower."

So I save that for my Sunday prep cooking.

This reminds me, one year my dad bought my stepmom toilet bowl plunger and scrub brushes for Christmas. He still hasn’t lived it down. My FIL bought MIL workout clothes for her 40th. That went well for him.

I don’t want to use Swiffer because of waste. We have a house cleaner starting and I don’t really know what’s normal. I use a swiffer wet jet on the kitchen and bathrooms (linoleum floor 😩) and an O Cedar pro mist spray mop on my living room & bedroom (luxury vinyl). The O Cedar is awesome because it's basically a swiffer but the pads are cloth, machine washable and you make your own solution for the bottle. I put a bit of lysol multipurpose and fill with water. The pads have to be air dried though. I may start using it for my kitchen also but I think the bathrooms will still get the disposable swiffer pads.

They make Swiffer like mops with a refillable bottle instead of the solution, and washable, reusable mop things instead of the disposable ones. I wish I had gotten that instead but alas, I did not. This is what the O cedar mop thing I have is. I really like it.

But I also got some of that lysol laundry sanitizer liquid and adding that when I wash cleaning towels and stuff makes me feel better about germs and stuff.

piratecat we use a Bona mop. It has a refillable cleaner bottle and washable cleaning pad. Much easier than hands and knees. We keep a basket at the bottom of the stairs to toss things in that need to be brought upstairs. We squeegee the shower walls and floor after every shower to keep soap scum from building up.

I have the Shark steam mop, so do people add cleaner to the water for this one? noooooooooo steam mops are for distilled water only. The idea is that you do not need any cleaners, the heat of the steam kills the germs.

I always seem to have one toilet in the house where the steam mop heads can't fit so I'm in the habit of wiping the floors around the toilets with Clorix wipes eleventy times a week and then steam mopping the rest of the bathroom floor a couple of times each week. I tried doing it with a Swiffer but I felt like the Swiffer didn't really get around all the bends of the toilet seal.

I do a load of laundry every day if not more. The kids do their own laundry. I either put a load in early in the morning or when I get home from work. I fold when kids are in bed and while watching shows.
Kids laundry deadline is Sunday. All clothes need to be washed and in closets before bed Sunday night.
The kids clean their rooms weekly. Sunday deadline as well. This includes dust, pick up and vacuum.
I do each room weekly so they're never really dirty. Basically everything is done weekly. I do have a schedule.
If I'm in a room long I clean up. If I'm waiting for something to come to boil I'm cleaning.
I do 30 min of cleaning every evening. Whatever isn't done isn't done.

McBenny,do any of your kids share a room? We're currently having an issue bc the boys share a room and asking them to clean up becomes a screaming match of who's to blame for the mess (not that I care. Just freakin clean your room, no matter who messed it up. But it's a thing.)

I will have one pick up clothes or something and the other do something else.

My boys share so I give them specific tasks, like DS1 will be in charge of their laundry and DS2 will be in charge of picking up Legos (or whatever). Otherwise a general task that requires cooperation ends in arguing more often than not.

I keep bleach spray in all the bathrooms and spray it into the toilets every few days. Close lid and leave it until someone uses it and flushes.
I am so lazy about cleaning. I dislike it.

Any recommendations for getting your laundry to smell fresher? My towels are the worst but I feel like it’s starting with clothes too. Fairly new top loading smart washer. I use Tide, no fabric softener. Hottest water possible on towels. I run a clean cycle with some Lemi-shine detergent regularly on the washer. I’ve tried washing the towels in vinegar. We use a water softener. Idk what I’m missing?
