This morning my mom and I are going to take all the girls to the children’s museum. Hoping we survive. Beyond that not much planned. DD3 turns 3 tomorrow so I need to get presents wrapped.

Today is DSs last day of his week long day camp. He's had a bunch of fun, and it has been nice to be one on ine with DD for a bit.
We've been slerp training DD this week, and letting her settle herself at naps and bedtime. It is amaxing how quickly she has caught on. I'm still holding her for the tail end of naps occasionally, bur it is uch better than holding for the full nap like we had been doing.

And since I missed Wednesday, here is a picture of DD from this week. Here is DD loving her jumper: And here are DD and DS at around 5 months:

Hi! I’m here and I feel awful. Me and the baby have a cough and some congestion. Last night at bedtime he coughed so much that he kept throwing up. It was awful. My poor guy had a rough night. I was up so much every time he or I would cough. Today I have to take him to have his helmet adjusted. He is not going to be be pleased about putting it back on I am sure.
I just want to go to bed.

Work today and no firm plans for this weekend. We only have $25 in our entertainment budget for this month so we won't go to the zoo or to the state fair this weekend like I had considered. New budget month starts on Wednesday, woohoo!! This photo was taken last week, but I love it so I'm going to share it since I forgot yesterday. This was taken with my iPhone 8 plus and I was playing around with the portrait settings. I love the lighting and her sweet face. I know new phones were discussed recently so I thought I would share something other than the standard phone snapshot. Faith had her first fever last night, I'm assuming from her 6 month shots. I had already given her meds to help with fussyness/soreness and the next thing I know she feels like a furnace had had a fever of 101.4. It was gone by the time we went to bed and hasn't come back. She woke up happy this morning so I'm glad she is feeling better. At 6 months she weighs 15 lb 11 oz (41%), she is 2 ft 2.8in (83%) and her head is 17.2 in (87%). The doctor said she is perfect!

Hope you and your little one feel better soon marygracerich! Cute pic aprilz81! I have a sleep training question. DS is about 5.5 months and I want to see if he is on track or not- or what he "should" be able to do now? For naps, he has gotten really good at taking most naps in his crib, and doesn't need to nurse or be rocked to sleep anymore. We can lay him in his crib, turn on the soother, and leave. He cries for sometimes 10 minutes but then falls asleep on his own. Sometimes it takes up to 15 minutes. Is this basically "sleep training" him? What exactly is sleep training? He is still up at night at 11 and 5:30 usually to eat, so he nurses back to sleep those times. However, other times he wakes up he usually just cries for a little bit on his own and then puts himself back to sleep. How soon do I need to stop nursing to sleep for the MOTN feedings (or do I ever need to?) I feel clueless about this sometimes lol and not sure if there are other sleep things I should be working on at this point!

I feel clueless about this sometimes lol and not sure if there are other sleep things I should be working on at this point! Faith is 6 months and I'm not 100% sure what daycare does for naps (other than it is in a crib) but weekend naps at home are usually in the PnP. We hold and sooth her until she is almost asleep and then transfer her. At night we have dropped the midnight dream feed but sometimes she wakes up as we are going to bed and then I feed her. 90% of the time she eats once between midnight and 6:00 am. If she has eaten and wakes up again I go in to sooth her for a few minutes but I don't rock her back to full sleep. I pick her up, pat her back until she calms down and then put her back in the crib. We usually put her in her crib while she is still awake. Sometimes she is just too squirmy as we are rocking her so I just put her down. She usually puts herself to sleep in about 10 minutes or so, usually with minimal fussing. I would call what you are doing a form of sleep training. You are teaching him to go to sleep on his own.

I hope you're both feeling better soon marygracerich. Working today, but Fridays are usually quiet. I'm very much looking forward to being home this weekend. We've been out of town the past 3 weekends and my laundry is way behind and the house is chaos. We desperately need a reset. I have to swap out DD's clothes since she's moved up to her 9 month stuff.

Ugh. Still no sleep to be had in the dragonfly house. Last night I just nursed DS every time he woke up bc I could tell it was his teeth & he wasn’t really eating, just comforting himself. Every 2-3 hours all night long 😭😭 I need that stupid tooth to cut!
Today we’re meeting a friend for sushi! She went to visit her hubby where they are deployed (he’s with my H) and I’m excited to hear about her trip! Later my bff is coming over & we’re heading to Lowe’s to get some supplies for a project of mine. I got an antique tea cart that I’m repainting. And replacing the glass trays with wooden ones were going to make & stain. DNW to worry about glass trays with DD around.
ALSO!! DS crawled last night!! Like legit pushed up off his stomach onto his knees and elbows and scooted forward!! Then he got stuck & couldn’t figure out how to move his elbows so he just rolled over lol.

The nap stuff is perfect, that’s exactly what you want and it’s ok if he fussed for a bit before falling asleep. For nighttime that sounds pretty good too. On a good night my DS feeds somewhere between midnight & 2, and then again at 6. It’s very normal for breastfed babies to keep this kind of schedule until at least 1yo, but I think the “accepted” age to start night weaning if you choose is somewhere around 10-11mo maybe. Keep in mind if you do that you may end up with an earlier wake time 🤷🏻♀️ we never night weaned DD, she just stopped waking up haha. sounds to me like you’re doing perfect!

Thank you so much dragonflyinn and aprilz81! That makes me feel a lot better and like I am not messing up his sleep, ha ha. I'm also glad to hear the wakeup times are still normal, I know many babies are STTN already and he is definitely not doing that yet.

We are formula feeding (and doing more solids) so that might be helping, but she is sleeping through the night more often, but not every night for sure.

My DD was STTN by this age and it is so frustrating that DS isn’t even close yet but I feel more comfortable knowing so much of it is a development thing & they will sleep through when they’re ready!

Thank you dragonflyinn and sunfrogger! In general I feel really lucky with his sleep and thought he was doing good, but then I started to second guess myself when I see so many posts about babies STTN and wondered if he should be sleeping more! Phew- glad we can just KOKO.

G is playing upstairs in her room. I hear her making a mess with her toys but I can’t tell what toys exactly based on the sound. Usually I can. I am thinking play food. Lol. The baby is awake in the pnp. He should be sleeping so I am trying to ignore him but it’s not going to last long. G’s teacher just called to cancel. I am trying to think of somewhere I can take them that is air conditioned because of the baby’s helmet.

I got up and ran four miles, took a shower, blow dried my hair, fed the kids breakfast, got them dressed and hair fixed, and had all five of us to the Discovery Center (Children’s museum) at 9am.
News flash. They have summer hours. Not open until 10. FAIL! Thankfully it is adjacent to a large park, so we played for a while then headed back over. But even with my mom there to help I’m spent. Hope DH isn’t expecting me to cook dinner tonight. Lol.

Liv sat up in her bouncer last night! Guess it's time to put that away. What gear do you all still have out? I think we're putting away our pnp too because we just don't use it.

Question. Who is feeding baby puréed meats? Both the pediatrician and the nurses at the breastfeeding clinic recommended I start with avocado, then move to meats. I’m trying not to vomit. We didn’t introduce meat with our others until 8 or 9 months when we gave them the real deal. But we need Arden to start gaining weight and they said veggies aren’t going to do it. 😬

sunfrogger we generally use our sit me up or the jumperoo. I usually bust out the pack n play when they get mobile and use it as ‘baby jail’.

We went to a library singalong this morning and this afternoon are getting packed for a 5 night trip to Maine. I am excited about the house we rented and getting away!
We still have all our baby gear out. Swing, bouncer, sit me up, play gym, exersaucer. She sleeps in the pnp in our room still, but we will use it downstairs eventually for a baby jail. I use the rnp just for when I’m showering and she’s awake, or if I need her in something upstairs while I put DS down for a nap or bed. I’m looking forward to getting rid of some of the baby gear but also not, it makes me sad since she’s our last baby!

Now that she can sit herself up I think I’ll be using the sit me up a lot more often! She’s past the weight limit on the bouncer anyway.

I’ve already sold some baby gear lol. H’s V is booked for August 7 and we’ve made a couple big purchases lately so I’m trying to get everything out before I second guess myself haha.

The gerber second foods has some meat dinners. The beef and vegetable one smells like soup. He likes that one. Since he has tried all of the fruits and veggies with no reaction, I am comfortable giving him combination foods now.
