H was up twice last night. I thought it might be his teeth because he has like 50 coming in all at the same time. But when I turned the light on in his room to get him dresses this morning his crib sheet was covered in snot.
Poor kid.

jewels you can ask for experience things. Like tickets/passes to museums/amusement parks or gift cards to special restaurants like pirate dinner theatre or rainforest. Also something like a subscription to a magazine that way you don't feel guilty tossing after a few months.

Morning all! Picking up off the flamingo 's post in the other thread, B's birthday is in 2 weeks and I have 0 ideas of what to get him. People are starting to ask and I don't know what to tell them. He mostly plays with whatever S is playing with. They have tons of toys. He has more clothes than I do. We got him a Moana book that makes Moana noises when you push the buttons. He's literally obsessed with Moana and the music so I think he will go crazy for that. That's probably the only gift we will give him. But I have no idea what to tell my friends and family! Does he need anything like a suitcase, lunch box, backpack, ect? Anything for his room? Character sheets, room decor?

Poor H tgrimes , how is he doing lately? This is the first time he's gotten sick since surgery. Well, he technically had that double EI a few days after surgery but he already had that cold... 2 months is a new record for us. (that's sad, right?) He only has 4 teeth right now so I'm patiently waiting for the rest of them to come in.

A woke up at like 3:30. MH got up with him and got him back down easily, but then I was just wide awake! I should have just gotten up and worked out or something, but instead I just stayed in bed staring at the wall.

Morning from the office. I had an awful day yesterday with a major partner getting angry and dropping an F-bomb on a call. It wasn't directed at me - at least not solely at me - but I am so over this. He was asking product managers for technical migration information, which he knows is not our domain. He's also playing fast and loose with dates, I THINK to try and make it look like any delays are 100% on us, when really he's trying for a much later timeline than his bosses want. I may be being paranoid, but I think he's attempting to throw us under the bus to get his bosses off his back. I want nothing to do with it.
Anyhow I'm really looking forward to girls' weekend but I'm also a bit bummed about missing time with the boys. My friends are all teachers (or work in the school system) so they're in kid overload right now, so it's making me feel extra sappy.

I now know after 15 minutes to go do something. When I'm working it's better because at least I'm productive. I can't vacuum at 2 in the morning without waking up others.

lahdeedah , what is a napper? Like do you provide cots for the kids at your DC? All we bring is a sheet and blanket, so I'm no help It's kind of like a sleeping bag I guess, but it's just a mat like thing, with a blanket attached. M's has a pillow insert and I take it out to wash it every week. At his old daycare, they used the cot with the sheet and blanket, but when he switched to his preschool, they nap on the floor with nappers.
This is the one I got for M that I don't love. It's held up ok, but not a fan of the material. link

In my search for the one I bought on amazon, I saw that there is one of the same brand that is more cotton material. The one I bought is water resistant and wipeable, so maybe that is where I went wrong? I'll check out the ones at Target, klong11. Thanks.

Hi ladies! Thanks for the birthday wishes! I was busy with conference and evening conference stuff and didn't get a chance tp check in. I had a pretty good time and found some fun not too busy bars. Now I have 2weeks of work and then off Hawaii. I really don't want to do much work today.

I had to have a very "adult" conversation with S yesterday but I think it went well. There is a boy, L, who apparently has been going around kissing friends against their will. He told me about it and we had a long conversation about how you should only kiss and hug someone if you want to and if anyone touches you/kisses you etc when you do not want it that you should immediately tell them to stop and tell someone. I am not great with having these conversations so I'm glad it sort of came up organically. That's crazy the behavior isn't stopped or he isn't separated. Our school has a very open "kissing is for mom's and dad's only" rule. And the kids will tell others about it. And even hugs kids can say no. Although the was a mass hug for E after returning from vacation

I imagine it's tough with two kids of the same gender/interests! Any "experience" type gifts like passes to the zoo/bounce house or trampoline place/indoor playground? Do you need refills on anything (craft supplies, etc)? Stuff for his bedroom (esp if he'll move into a "big boy" bed soon or whatever)? Suitcase/overnight bag or backpack? My parents have given Stride Rite gift cards before, which are great b/c Lord knows, kids always need new shoes. That and something "fun" but small for the child to open is a great gift. Maybe that is a suggestion for relatives. eta: i see others have covered this already!

The book I got Cadence last week was a good conversation starter for us. it's called My Body Belongs to Me, from my head to my toes. We have this one, too, and I really like it. I also ask Atticus if I can give him a hug or kiss, and he asks us, too.

flamingo I've started Christmas shopping too. I found a giant walking horse doll thing that was on clearance for my horse-obsessed Cass. A gift idea for B is the Magic School Bus science kit. My girls have a blast with it. Maddie would love science camp. jewels, any building toys to add to a collection? More Tinker Toys, Legos, magnetiles, etc?

cagoldi, I hope A's school issues can get worked out. It's hard when they are having a tough time and don't like going. mwhip my mom does in-home daycare. Honestly, it's amazing how many parents just don't acknowledge what she does at all and she really appreciates some kind words and a handwritten card with a picture of the kiddo or something like that. You also couldn't go wrong with something like a gift card to a local café or something like a pedi/massage. She still has some kids come by here and there to say hi and a few families who trick-or-treat there every Halloween even though the kids are much older. She enjoys seeing them again.

Speaking of my mom and her work, she told me that one of her 2 yos started sobbing and she asked her what was wrong. The little girl pointed to Trump on the TV. My mom told her he makes her feel like crying too so lets turn him off.
