Ah, the lesson we learn after the first one. Sleep when it sleeps. Ha! I think I took a grand total of 2 naps with this one. I wish I learned that lesson... I stink at napping! This is me, I suck at napping.

Paid leave needs to be a thing. For everyone.
I'm positive if Pete were able to take more time when I had Dude I wouldn't have had to struggle with PPD so badly.

MH was home for about 2 months when we had B, he was posted to another city and otherwise was only home on weekends. With J he was already working here so he was home every night by 5pm, that was plenty of togetherness.
When he gets home from tour he'll be off for about a month i think, he will drive me bananas. Going from never being home to always being here is a massive change. I plan to set up my hammock, lounge on my new deck, put in ear plugs and tune everything and everyone out.

wedding Any thoughts on a grain-free kidney diet? Sinny has always been grain-free. According to the woman running the rescue where we adopted him, all Cornish need a grain-free diet. So we've always adhered to this for him. The two types of KD food our vet recommended aren't grain-free. I guess we could try them? I'm worried about 1.) remaining grain-free and him possibly becoming too thin OR 2.) switching to the KD that does have grain them possibly aggravating his digestive system. Hiii from the couch.
J is having a marathon nap because she wanted to party last night for a couple hours, so I've got some books downloading on my kobo, and I'm just watching my chickadee family. There are a couple magpies hanging around the yard, I'm going to have to chase them away if they get to close to the babies. I can't wait for them to leave the nest, it'll be so cute.

DH's company offers 12 weeks of paternity leave but with the culture there's, it's pretty well understood that you never take all of your vacation days, sick days or leave.

We each get 28 days/year PTO to use in whatever manner we like, but we have a brutal performance culture so it's basically the same. Taking more than two weeks off is career suicide. Also it is important to keep weight on him so I think switching to the regular kidney diets would be good. Did they recommend mostly wet food? That is easiest for the kidneys to process and increases fluid intake.

Yay for your DH finally being home sands42! DH took a week off after both girls were born. It would have been fine after S but immediately after he went to work I got sick with that UTI and basically wanted to lay in bed all day. Thank god we sent H to daycare for 4 weeks after S was born. I have actually been hit with the baby fever, which I am actively trying to get rid of. I was thinking this morning that ideally I would like to have a baby sept 2019. That way H will be in K and S will be in preschool.

Dh had 4 days of paid leave after dd was born, 2 days is the norm here. Since Dh is a teacher and they can't take vacation days outside school holidays, he got four.
For moms it's 16 weeks paid leave, off which 4-6 have to be taken before the baby's due date. I saved vacation days (4weeks) and took a months of unpaid leave. Dd came earlier than her due date, so she was a little over 5 months when I started working again. For me it was still to soon.

Thanks for understanding, you guys. Once we're out of the house, it's fine, but I was feeling a little bogged down this morning. MH could take as much time as he wanted, but it would come out of his sick bank and it would be very difficult to plan out that far in advance, so he took three weeks for each kid. By the time he went back, it was only for two or three weeks and then it was Christmas break for Josie and spring break for Charlie. It worked out well. The district's policy for leave is pretty good -- Moms or dads can actually take up to 24 months of parental leave, and they will hold your job. In fact, I'm still technically on maternity leave for Charlie and they will be holding my job for the start of the 2018-2019 school year.

This is us exactly (although not military). B/c MH has his own business, when he's home, he's home all the time. He's the hardest working man alive, so he's always got some project or "work" (lord knows what sometimes) that keeps him busy, but we go from away all the time to home all the time. It's a tough transition for me!

Im still on maternity leave (unpaid) and I have four years and they have to accept me back. I don't want to go back, but after the last few weeks I've been seriously contemplating it. The grass is always greener I guess...

We are definitely done and it's sad.

I work my butt off, I'm taking days off when I want/need them! This. Dh get a lot of time off, I think 28 days? But he can take it whenever he wants/needs. The only restrictions are they do lottery drawings for major holidays and you can't take the day before/after a holiday for every single holiday. That said, I'm sure there are people who abuse it and it's noted, but dh is probably one of the hardest workers there. He constantly works overtime and is incredibly dependable and when he does take time he makes sure everything's in order before he leaves. But yeah, it would piss me off if he had all the time off and had to be cautious about using it.
