Fox News is on in the hotel breakfast area where I’m at. The anchor was talking about Canadian tariffs and that “we should expect a tweet from the President later today”. 😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭 not a statement, a tweet. 🤮

Speaking of house of cards, I saw a friend over the weekend who is a career government staffer in an agency, and she said something was proposed to her team by the political appointee that she described as “House of Cards-esque.” She said her team quashed it right quick, but she felt like she was/is living in an alternate reality.
(Sorry to vague post).

What's everyone's take on immigration and the mid-terms? I mean looking at the success of the rallies this weekend in terms of the sheer number of and that most people at least disagree with separating families, this seems like a no-brainer.
Now that some Dems like Gillebrand are calling to abolish ICE, I feel like this could cause some fracturing because that's a step too far in some people's opinions. I guess ideally, the Dems would come out with a cohesive message and stance? How likely is that to happen?
I was just listening to the news, and they were saying that the RNC is all over the place with its messaging too, although it doesn't seem like that because you have the idiot in chief yelling about it loudly to his base and saying the next step will be to get rid of police. 😡

Sing Michael sing. 🎵🎶 Apparently his wife hates Cheeto too, so I'm sure she gave him one hell of an ultimatum too.

CBP is filled with horrible, racist people, and I want to burn everything to the ground today. Video w/ a mother talking about the horrible way mothers were treated by CBP as they were separated from their children. www.facebook.com/bbcnews/videos/10155929778552217/CBP agents wishing mothers a happy mother's day as they take their children from them: FUCK THESE PEOPLE. I had to explain to my mother that no these were not people who were just doing their jobs and there was no need to feel bad for them. She is against the policy but hasn't looked further into it. She did change her tune when I explained just how the agents were acting.

The turnout from the marches (not even just the ones this weekend!) should be all they need to know that this party is leaning progressive in response to Trump's crazy.
Embrace it or lose. The Pelosis and Schumers of the party really need to get their shit together, or we won't have a unified message at all.

So yeah abolish ICE but keep the kids at the forefront would be my advice to the dems.

Regarding Michael Cohen though, let's be real here, the guy is still a fucking asshole, terrible human being.
He's signaling he will cooperate because he doesn't have a choice, 30 years in prison and legal fees out the ass is no way to spend your life when you have kids, he's done terrible things, and he should not be let off the hook for that no matter what. He's part of the reason we are where we are.

Cohen is a fixer but he’s not the mastermind here.

I'm just saying in general - a lot of praise on Twitter and general "OMG YAASSSS" - which yes, I am clearly on board with because it means possibly fucking over Trump.
It's just, we shouldn't forget the terrible things he has done and his part in all of this.

My mom is on Facebook wagging her finger about "these young organizers" lecturing "the very folks who have shown up demonstrating they're on your side and who can bring you decades of activist experience." ...nah I'm thinking it's time we let the young people lead.

What is she referring to?? The posts came after she went to the march in her small town over the weekend. I don't know what happened, specifically, but it's couched in a way that's very "not all baby boomers."

Happy Monday everyone. 🙃😑 Supreme Court agrees to hear 'double jeopardy' case in the fall linkLaurence Tribe @tribelaw Among the first cases the Court agreed to hear the day after Kennedy announced his retirement will decide whether a Trump pardon from federal prosecution will shield someone from state prosecution even if that state retains its dual sovereignty loophole

I don't usually come to these parts, but I'm cautiously excited about Mexico's new president. He ran on a new party and won in a landslide. His policies are on the left spectrum. So Who knows what will happen and what he will do. Im done with el PRI and el PAN parties there. People are saying he's kind of like the Bernie of Mexico. I know Bernie is problematic. But people there seem to be overwhelmingly tired of all the bad stuff and he grew popular on grassroots movements too. We'll see.

I’ve been reading about him, miawallace and trying to keep up with the election. He seems much better than all the other candidates, IMO. I hope he does a great job.

I'm cautious for sure because he's sort of a populist like trump and Chavez. I want to believe he means all the things he promised folks there. He used a lot of similar stands like Bernie. Like taxing the elite and getting rid of corrupt politicians. But at this rate Pena Nieto was Pri and he's been awful. The last PAN president (Felipe Calderon) tried to reign in tne violence and he sort of made a dent, but not really. We'll see. I just don't want AMLO turning into Chavez.

I think thats why the people voted for him because he wasn't pri or pan. Or even tne third lesser party of PRD.
Makes me wonder if we need to make a new party here and run against the democrats and republicans. It's sounds like a disaster but people will do crazy tbings when the 2 parties are locked to those who they pander to.

I feel like the whole world is spinning out of control. In addition to the forced "re-education" for poor children, there is also: 1) They're criminalizing poverty. 2) I am so sick and tired of people excusing outrageously unjust behavior by saying the recipients are criminals and therefore not worthy of human rights or equality. 3) The thinly veiled "It's not targeted at Muslims, but really, we're targeting Muslims" doublespeak is fucking ridiculous. Jesus. JESUS. The criminalization of visiting their home countries too. JFC. And treating them like criminals without just cause. Putting ankle monitors on children so they can't go outside in the evening? This whole thing is sick. I hope the UN does something about this shit.
