The pictures thing they could swing with a privacy excuse (and I agree, to a point, that taking photos of minors' faces and publishing them is not great), but what's their explanation for the two weeks thing? These are officials. It's not like you have to do a background check.

I'm really concerned that now that an EO is signed, all the media coverage will die down and those families will be forgotten.

The problem will be that the 20 day rule will remain in effect. So in 20 days it will become illegal for those children to be held in detention with their parents. So what happens then?

I think we are talking about two different things. There is currently no system in place to reunite children that were ALREADY taken from their families and placed into holding facilities. We have no legislation or plan. I was wondering if someone had a letter urging their congress members to push for a plan to be implemented. That way these children will not fall through the cracks and never see their families again.

It seems that the administration lacks a plan, intention and a sense of urgency to begin reuniting these children – many of whom have suffered serious emotional anguish – with their parents. Children’s health experts, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, have condemned the practice of separating children from their parents because of the serious, long-term and permanent emotional and psychological damage that children can experience from this separation.

The administration has the authority and the resources to immediately begin the process of family reunification. Any delay in doing so is simply unacceptable. We request that the administration present its plan to Congress and the country as soon as possible, and immediately begin steps to implement it.
