Oh my God. I just saw a video of Trump saying of South American refugees that it's Mexico's fault bc, and this is a direct quote, "They walk through Mexico like they're walking through Central Park." Oh that’s where that came from. I’ve seen it repeated, but not quotes, several times in Facebook comments. Also DD is watching the incredible right now and that gif played almost in sync with that part of the movie on my tv.

I know it’s the adoption part of my brain, but the lack of identification on these kids is killing me. The government is essentially creating orphans. It is criminal. On NPR this morning they were talking about how once separated they have to rely on the children to tell them who they came with, where their parents are, etc. Six year olds! My kid gets confused on basic information about his life all the time. Some days he could tell you my full name and phone number and other days he forgets. This is not a kid’s job. DD would never speak a single to word to a stranger.

I posted on FB that we have the technology to trace a gallon of milk back to the damn cow yet we can’t do the same for children

What we are doing is torture. All of the mental health organizations agree and have been attempting to make that known with lawmakers. I'm watching high level people in my field (human torture/trafficking) lose their ever loving shit. We are attempting to show them just how bleak the future is for these children, for these parents. I am overwhelmed.
The United States of America is guilty of crimes against humanity.
This is not going to end well.
The chances of it "blowing over" are slim. She is not understanding that these thousands of people are humans. She is not understanding that we have fundamentally altered the neurodevelopment of these children. She is not understanding that even if we get quiet, complacent...the damage that has already been done will be soon causing issues well beyond her understanding.
I'm sorry to drop this here after being gone for so many weeks. Keep being loud you magnificent people.

I don't know how I feel about that either.
Like....yeah, at some point you have to think that the toddler touching the hot stove might not have nerve endings in his hand and you must step in before the whole damn house burns down.

I used to teach history and I would show my kids propaganda surrounding Japanese internment camps to dupe the public into thinking they weren't as bad as they were. This is no different with Fox News.
I don't see how you could miss the signs. For Republicans, loyalty to Trump's agenda can make or break them. During the SC gubernatorial runoff debate the two candidates talked about aligning with Trump's policies and Henry McMaster, our incumbent, was one of the original Trump supporters. Mark Sanford lost the Republican nomination for US House because his opponent talked about going to Washington for Trump. Shit like this would have never happened under previous presidents. Republicans are demanding loyalty to one man.
Churches and evangelical leaders such as Franklin Graham are saying that you can't be a true Christian if you're not Republican.
He attacks the media and attacks world leaders on Twitter.
You get fired if you don't comply.
He runs a shady foundation and benefits from having family in important positions.
He has caused people to turn against Muslims, immigrants, and is pushing isolationism.
He has blind followers who ignore and refute basic facts.
He's filling the courts with people who side with him.
Civil rights cases have been dismissed.
We have internment camps for immigrants.
Are we totally fucked?

Also, I'm still stuck on that little girl. Does anyone know why she wasn't separated from her mother? Is the policy random? I guess now that she's in the spotlight we'll find out what happens, but I'm curious as to why they were kept together (which obviously I think is the best outcome they could hope for considering).

This is what's happening with some of the stolen children.
Puesto Loco™ @puestoloco
Devos' adoption mill: Bethany Christian Services, Grand Rapids, MI, has taken in 81 immigrant children snatched from their parents under the new Trump kidnapping plan. Ask them if they have names & addresses of the parents. I bet they don't. They don't want them.

Ask them if they have names & addresses of the parents. I bet they don't. They don't want them. Yup. They are paid by the government to handle overflow foster care services. Bethany has a very spotty reputation in the adoption world. They have documented cases of treating birth parents poorly. Promising them the world and then cutting them off after placement. They also do not work with LGBTQ adoptive parents. However, because that is discriminatory in some states, they are super shady about it and don’t have an official policy, leaving it up to their regional offices. So they make potential adoptive parents call them to find out (wasting their time and discriminating against them verbally) rather than being transparent about it. Spoiler alert: they don’t work with them.

Follow the money on this:
(1) government contracts to run for profit detention centers/prisons
(2) government money to foster care agencies, adoption agencies, and foster families without following reunification plans or providing critical information on the family of origin
(3) government money to transport children around the country unnecessarily
So this is racism + corruption.

The entire thread but this tweet in particular are terrible and depressing:
Trump rejects facts that immigrant crime is actually very low.

That's really gross about BCS. I feel bad that I've mentioned donating/ helping them without knowing this.
How do we get these kids out of there???

The DeVos family having these babies makes me feel sick. I can pretty much guaran-damn-tee you the plan is to "save" these babies by adopting them out to white Christian (conservative) people. No records are being kept and many of these kids are babies/toddlers and far too young to remember details about their real families. And with ones so young, do they even know their correct names or are the foster families/agencies coming up with "temporary" names for these kids? I'm so angry and heartsick over it all.
