Early FFFC by two hours East coast time: since this immigration atrocity reached fever pitch, I've been letting the baby sleep with us. She just woke up saying, "Nononono no." She was having a bad dream. It took me less than ten seconds to comfort her. What's the similar story for kids whose parents have been deported? This is what kills me. The little girl on the Times cover is DDs age. The thought of no one there to comfort, hug, cuddle, play, and hold her is beyond heartbreaking. That mother, and all the parents whose children have been taken from them, must be beside themselves. How in the world have we come to allow this?

I’m going to a rally on the 30th and want to make posters with my kids this week. Any ideas on phrases to put on the posters? Familiesbelong.org had lots of suggestions for posters before the previous rallies Perfect. I hadn’t heard of that one yet. Thanks!

I am having a hard time holding it together. We are going to the beach on Saturday and I feel horrible about going on vacation when all these people are suffering. This issue has gutted me unlike anything else. I kept hugging my girls today and my 5 year old said "mom I know you love me but you can't hug me all the time!"

This issue has gutted me unlike anything else. I kept hugging my girls today and my 5 year old said "mom I know you love me but you can't hug me all the time!" First off, the head of refugee resettlement went to his college reunion Saturday night..so if anyone should feel guilty about leaving town, it should be him. Secondly, self-care is important. I'm trying to think that my morale outrage at an 11 all the time really is not solving anything, but the money I donated is. So I need to take the stress level down a notch before I get make myself sick and trust that these non-profits are saving our country. Enjoy your trip, I'd limit the news to a certain time a day so you are informed, but not so much that it ruins your trip. Have fun with your family.

OH FFS, they sent Melania down to the border ... Yes, let's send someone whose family benefitted from "chain migration" to the people we refuse to let seek asylum and whose children we took away and now won't promise to return. And I get that sending a First Lady can show empathy in a way. Like, Michelle Obama or Laura Bush would have been warm and sympathetic with the children and parents and honestly, I'm sure Melania could be as well, but FFS. Every First Lady since Nancy Reagan has departed with husbands policy (no matter how vague) when it comes to separating families. Laura Bush, Babs, Hillary... everyone till Melania.

No one feel bad for Zara. That's the company that used sweatshops to produce their clothes where unpaid workers (so... slaves) were stitching pleas for help into the clothing. Zara management doesn't care. They're probably high-fiving each other right now.

Oh my God. I just saw a video of Trump saying of South American refugees that it's Mexico's fault bc, and this is a direct quote, "They walk through Mexico like they're walking through Central Park."

If not separating a toddler from their mother is the litmus test we now use to determine whether we are the good guys in this situation, then we have truly lost any progress we have made as a society.

OK I am calling it. We are legitimately Nazi America. That's it I'm out. sheilathetank start looking for houses elsewhere. This place has had it. Here's Why It's Entirely Appropriate to Compare Donald Trump to the NazisUnless there is something somewhere showing progress of fixing this. Alex Jones is always saying we are falling into a police state and what he fails to realize is that it's his party that is making it that way. Everyone who supports this is complicit.

I had a nightmare last night that my family was being sent to execution by Nazis. So that’s my subconscious trying to make sense of this total shit. Even it is screaming that this is feeling similar.

So the little girl in the Times Magazine cover and in the original picture going around the internet, It turns out CBP and HHS has no idea where or who she is. Which leads both ways. For conservatives they will argue the picture is staged. But more likely it is exactly as it was reported that CBP and HHS lost the child as they did with over 1200 other kids in the past year. Where is the little girl crying in that viral border photo?

Just like they only use the narrative of a few immigrants that might be MS13 or whatever other far reaching thing to paint all of them as bad.

I know it’s the adoption part of my brain, but the lack of identification on these kids is killing me. The government is essentially creating orphans. It is criminal.
On NPR this morning they were talking about how once separated they have to rely on the children to tell them who they came with, where their parents are, etc. Six year olds! My kid gets confused on basic information about his life all the time. Some days he could tell you my full name and phone number and other days he forgets. This is not a kid’s job.
