I've no advice I wouldn't look twice at any of the wildlife around me. Baby pigeons better call an uber if they fall out their nests. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who would’ve just left that bird outside. I would’ve paid it no mind. Well, I would’ve moved it so my toddler or dog couldn’t of gotten it. I need to say that I wouldn’t break its neck though. Just let nature run it’s course. Natural selection and all. There was one hanging out in my flower bed on Monday. Either it couldn't fly and a cat ate it OR it could fly and all was well. Idk what happened.

The rescue is going to take him. She said she would feed him until he’s ready to go back into the Wild and then release him. When MH told me, I said, “so he’s never going to know his mom?” And MH was like, “Cher.” So I have someone in my house doing work right now. As soon as he leaves, the baby and I are going to take a drive to the rescue. And then I’m buying myself a new pair of sunglasses to cheer myself up. Poor Arnold. He had the best little foster mom and family in the meantime. Good luck Arnold!

This thread has brought me much joy with a bit of horror peppered in. I'm glad you found a place to take him Cher! You're a good human.

Ok so final chapter. I drove to the “rescue” and it’s just these houses. I’m looking for the house number where I see a house with a bunch of bird food/baths and pigeons all over the front yard. So I’m guessing that’s the place. C2 and I knock on the door. A dog barks. We wait a while. Finally this old lady in sweats cracks the door, “yeah?” “Hi! I’m Cher, we emailed and you talked to MH this morning. I found this bird and we’ve been caring for him.” She looks at Arnold (who Is back in trashcan at this point), reaches down, scoops him up with her hand. “Okay. I’ll take care of him. Bye.” Slams the door on my face. So. I called MH. “I didn’t even get to say goodbye.” “Me either.” “Do you think it would be weird if I emailed her in a couple of weeks to see how he’s doing?” “I think you should email her tonight.” For the record, MH was the one who wants me to email tonight. So, fin. Kind of a bummer. And I bought these to cheer myself up. They look cooler in person. They’re kind of black reflective.

Aviators, I see what you did there.
Godspeed, AJ-J, the wounded aviator.
And god bless the Horowitzes.

Cher, around here most rescues are just people with a mini zoo in their house. I dropped off some old sheets to someone recently and she had cages and aquariums all over, and then a bedroom turned into wall to wall cages as well. Various small animals and birds in varying stages of getting better. I'm not surprised you were at a house.

She does it all out of her home and has between 80-120 bunnies, hampsters and guinea pigs. The woman uses high school volunteers to help out and her house is immaculate given the amount of animals that are living there.

Did I ever tell you guys about the time I tried to save a baby bird? I brought out a ladder to put it back in it’s nest and I dropped it. It hit every god damn branch on its way down to its death. Did you know birds scream? I seriously just about woke the baby I'm rocking when I read this because I laughed so hard. I'm sorry, it is very sad but man that caught me off guard lol. You're nice to have tried to help at least.

I'm feeling crushed over @shanando's dropped baby bird. A hummingbird built a nest right outside our kitchen window and her baby hatched but didn't make it. I'm clearly not over it.

I was like 3 weeks pp and walking my baby down the street when I saw a little frog hop hopping across the street. A car was coming.
Froggy hopped right into the front bumper and the sound was god awful for such a small thing.
I cried far too much for that damn frog. Hormones, man.

It’s hard not to wake your kids at 12:18 at night when you can’t stop laughing at the bird thread.

The other day, I saw these things explode in the middle of the street the other day and I wondered if neighborhood kids left water balloons in the road. Then I realized the car in front of me ran over turtles crossing the road. Haunts me.
