flamingo I feel like this has happened before with the dog, looks like MIL has a pattern She definitely does. I find it a bit passive-aggressive...she's not typically a disorganized person so it's odd that always at the last minute she seems to remember the dog :head scratching emoji: It annoys DH to a lesser degree; I guess he could put his foot down on the front end when they arrange these visits, but he is very much a 'pick your battles' person and I guess to him this isn't a big one. And at the end of the day I'm not willing to really put MY foot down and make his life miserable, so. I just bitch here Sorry.

Re all the movies: maybe I’m crazy but imo lot of the Disney movies have something mean/scary in them. But I’m also known to be crazy overprotective 🙄. A lot of those feature films aren’t translated in Dutch, they’ll have subtitles, so we’ll have to wait a few more years for those. I cannot wait to read him Charlie and HP and then watch the movies (yes in that order #booknerdforlife). No, you're not crazy. I think a lot of the 'old' Disney stuff in particular is kind of dark (Pinocchio and Dumbo come to mind). My kids have seen quite a few of the classic Disney movies but there are some that weren't my favorites for various reasons that I'll likely hold off on. B watched Sleeping Beauty recently and I thought he might be a bit intimated by the dragon (the 'lava monster' in Moana freaked him out a bit) but he did fine. eta: inthekitty Yep, I watched Dumbo within the last couple years and lost it at "Baby Mine". Bambi is sad but I'm more OK with that one, for whatever reason. Yeah S was fine at the lava monster but made me turn off the crab the first time he watched it. He was also fine at the bear on toy story but not the garbage compactor part And he’s fine at all the terrifying scenes in all the Star Wars movies I literally have no clue what will bother him

"doggy hotel" is basically speaking Greek to my ILs. SIL is the same way. I do not understand people like this. My mom was never a crazy pet person, don't get me wrong--she always loved her pets, but she didn't get weird about it. But with their awful little ankle biter they won't crate him even though he pees in the house anytime they leave him alone so they literally take him everywhere and won't leave him home alone even for a few minutes (which is effing crazy to me). So it limits the time they can be out of the house with him in the car. She brought him to my house soon after she got him and he prominently took a dump right on my carpet. Luckily she never even attempted to bring him again. I think she was hoping he'd be this adorable purse dog she could take anywhere but has somewhat accepted she has a worthless dud. LOL at worthless dud. My parents' dog is also terrible (marking and generally just a grouchy personality) but they realize this and do not take him anywhere...in fact, I think my mom looks forward to dropping him at the 'pet resort' when they go on vacation We know so many older people with annoying pooches, DH asked me this morning if we were going to have a horrible dog when we get old. I was like, "nope, octopus." I will not be *those people*.

But then he will want to watch it again.🤷♀️

Not like, scares me, but I just don't like it. Don't like the song, etc. I kind of blocked it out from seeing the movie in theaters, I guess...first few times we watched it on DVD I kept asking H, "are you SURE this was in the movie??"

Funny thing about the crab song. C though the line "your granny lied" at the beginning was "your granny died" and didn't say anything to me until one day he heard LO singing it and questioned if we should be letting him watch it or sing it. He seemed relieved when I showed him the lyrics.

flamingo can you say your landlord only allows 1 dog in the house? So obv your dog gets that spot. Lol. Just saw that, this is SUCH a good idea. probably too late now but maybe next time. We do have to pay an extra $50/month for our dog so not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Speaking of asshole dogs, wedding I need your professional opinion. Our staffordshire bull terrier is around 13 years old. We took her to the vet because she was acting weird. She didn't like going on walks anymore, would draw back when we'd try to pet her, shake in her legs and was peeing/shitting in the house. The vet thinks she has arthritis in her back so now she's taking pills. I can tell the pills are helping after she takes one because she moves easier. But she's still freaking out when we try to pet her or get her to go outside. She stopped following our commands, too. She has snapped at the kids on more than one occasion, which scares the shit out of me. I mean, I can't always be right there next to them and I try to keep them away from her, but it still happens. What do I do? 2nd opinion? Try a stronger dose of meds?

Checking in from the airport. The traffic was supposed to be terrible but then it only took 2 hours to get here, so I've been hanging out and people watching. Every family makes me miss the boys, which is ridiculous because I just saw them at drop-off this morning. Boo to traveling for work.
Anyhow I'll probably be somewhat MIA the next few days so I hope everyone is healthy and happy!!

We made it to the train place. 2 school groups left as we pulled in. Whew. Now I'm reading on here in peace while the kids play in their play Space. It's not quite the same without Kelly..

joelies I hope you have a good work trip! Okay, I'm completely sold on a house cleaning service. I don't know how much it is going to cost, but I'm going to figure out at least a once a month clean. The house looks amazing. The screen door people were early and left fast! The doors look great. FINALLY, something went right!

My almost 6 year old son is uber sensitive to movies...both the sad and the scary, so that limits what we watch. I'm ok with it though, I figure let them be young and innocent for awhile. He freaks out at Beauty and the Beast, so hell no to Goonies or the Princess bride, etc.
I distinctly remember watching Dumbo when I was pregnant with my oldest 15 years ago. I bawled through the entire thing and have not watched it since.

If it was just not wanting to walk then I would go arthritis but the bathroom issues and mood change are more concerning. Did they do any bloodwork? Any recent weight gain or loss?

Graduation was postponed from tomorrow to Thursday which means DH can't make it. Sucks. Also means if Tball practice isn't rained out, that we should go to that.

ladystrat I don’t want to make you jealous of my gourmet kitchen skills, but if you’re looking for dinner ideas last night I fed my kids frozen waffles with Nutella and strawberries. sands42 that’s super weird... and they’re expecting you to pay even though you don’t actually know what they did and you hadn’t discussed it? flamingoI’d be super annoyed by your MiL dapostrophe my 6 year old is super sensitive too. It weird, because all my kids have seen “older” movies I feel like because of having an older brother (Star Wars, Jurassic park, ready player one) and they are fine with it. But Lucas will sob through secret life of pets, he hates coco, it’s weird what freaks him out. Hi! I’m feeling better, thank goodness. Not 100% my stomach still feels kind of crappy, but a huge improvement from yesterday! I even made it to the gym and ran some errands. I wanted to get C a few warmer things for nights in Wisconsin next week, and I found the cutest Adidas pants and shirt set that will definitely be to small in probably a few weeks but was too cute to pass up. cagoldi chrisy01 I’ll have to send it to one of you guys because it’s too adorable and sporty to only be worn once!

I don't really cook for my kids much. The other night was deli meat sliced up, cheese and crackers, and apples. They ate everything and asked for a repeat meal the next night. That's a win in my book. Cass cried when she thought someone ate her turkey, but I'm pretty sure she ate it and forgot. I assured her there was more deli meat to go around.

I just spent 2 hours getting E to sleep. 5 minutes after I hear a massive poop. Should I let her sleep or change the diaper and take another 2 hours to get her back to sleep.
I feel like a first time mom again.
