Gotcha. I’m trying to think if I’ve ever heard ‘ope’ before.

That's like a Minnesota list, not a Midwest list. Minnesota is an entity all it's own some days. Get my BIL and SIL drunk and dear God. We have no clue what they are talking about. They find it hilarious though. Hey I didn't name the list. I found it while googling Ope. I'll look for a less Minnesota-ish list.

I never realized I did until it was mentioned here. Or I never said it before I heard it here. It's a chicken and egg situation and now I notice my kid using it too. This place.

What was that NY times quiz that pinpointed where you were from based on vernacular? It was pretty accurate for me. It gave me a city in nor cal about 30 minutes away from my parents, despite all the OH vernacular my parents use.
ETA: quiz, not list

What do you guys call puppy chow?! Muddy Buddies. But I honestly never saw it until like 10 years ago. I didn’t grow up on it.

I never heard hair binder until here and I still don’t know if I believe it is a thing. +1 Also "spendy" Oh, we say that here. I feel like it’s recent though. Maybe it’s from a TV show or something.

I’m all effed up from my time in the south. I pick up terms really quickly.

In my quick search, I'm really not finding anything different than the first list.

Most of the CA ones are dumb, but I’m curious about these two:
bail for leaving
Ex: “this party is lame and I’ve got work in the morning, so I’m going to bail”
Bum for borrow
Ex: “can I bum a smoke”
Are those really CA specific?

No. Ok, that’s what I thought but I saw both of those on two lists and was scratching my head. They sound super common to me.

That quiz gives me Cleveland as one of the cities. It seems accurate. Also I say lightening bug, never firefly.

I retook it and now I’m definitely CA, but I got weird parts of CA/NV. Reno, Stockton, and Santa Rosa. Ok, then.
For at least 3 of the terms I didn’t have one for it.
ETA: I got those cities because I said crawdad.
Anyways, I got the least as the northeast, which makes sense because I’ve spent the least amount of time there.

FTR I do not say this
edit: If I had my druthers, there would be better alcohol served at this party.

The lightening bug conversation reminded me that one got into my house somehow the other day. I legitimately thought I was having a stroke because I kept seeing flashes of light in my dark bedroom. It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize it was a lightening bug.

Lice. We just spent the evening dealing with lice on our older two. Shoot me now. Luckily me, H, and the baby didn't have any active lice but we still did the treatement. And then, the baby decided to roll off the bed when we were examining their heads. She hit her head and got a nice bruise/bump. So we have to wake her up every two hours tonight. Today sucksssss
