I think we’ve decided to go the kid’s kindle route for the kids. I’m waiting for prime day to see what kind of sale they might have for them that day. Ours have been worth every penny. Loooove freetime unlimited!

Yes! But I still am getting the “we are not happy with their weight” speech. I have a feeling we will end up with a failure to thrive diagnosis 🤷🏻♀️ Aw man. Well you can only do what you can do and they seem to be happy. Didn’t your oldest have a hard time gaining weight too? So it might not just be from the preemie standpoint. Yup DS1 Had a hard time also. I think we just make tall skinny kids. 😂

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkk. That will be my reaction as I stare at my family eating dessert on Father's Day. This baby better appreciate what I'm giving up for him! I'm sorry. That blows.

I've never made quesadillas before and the tortillas got a little blackened. Whoops! Should they be cooked low and slow? Yes. And you can put a touch of oil in the pan too.

Hi
Making some earl grey tea and watching Intervention. I took the dog for a walk after dinner. It's gorgeous and cool tonight.

Some jerk took a tree support that was on one side of our driveway (we had removed it because it was pulling the tree down during the wind) and smashed our gnome home on the other side of the driveway. So sad.

Hello. I’m frantically toggling between Zillow and indeed and pretending it makes sense for me to move or get a new job. Living the dream.

I have control issues and would not like to be fed. H sometimes tries to put bites of things in my mouth while I’m driving and I yell no. 🤣 Also what I consider a bite and what MH considers a bite are not the same. I get so mad at H when he asks for a bite of my sandwich because I know he’s going to take about a quarter of it.

I swear my h's goal is to fit as much food in his mouth as humanly possible. Pizza slice? Goes in as far it can before he bites. It grosses me out.

I’ve been a mess of anxiety all day after my boss took my resignation so poorly, and I know I’m going in tomorrow to a hostile interrogation. Taking a Xanax after I finish making her requested list of everything I do. 🙄

MH asked DD for a bit of a pickle she was eating over the weekend and ate almost half of it (in one bite) resulting in a huge meltdown. “I said ONE BITE DADDY! You are not sharing!” I got her a new pickle and told her I’ve been trying to teach him that for 15 years.

And they can do everything they want and then some with the kindles/freetime. We have an older gen iPad that the kids sometimes use, but I hate that most of the apps cost money, or if they’re free, they have a ton of ads that my kids click on and get frustrated with. There are a few things that I can only get on the iPad, like DD1’s Reading Eggs app, so it’s nice to have both for that reason. But I think we would make it work without one. We just had it already anyway.

FWIW, the kids kindle is just a regular kindle with a case. Since we already had free time and you can get cases for cheap, we bought the extra ones for multiple kids as just regular kindles and saved $$$.

The kid's Kindle is fantastic. She had one of my old cheap tablets and it was a pain in the ass because all of the apps had ads. Kindle Freetime is so easy for her to use.

Buttttt....the kid’s kindle comes with a 2 year, no questions warranty. If you have a bam bam like me, you might want to consider it. Shockingly we haven’t had to use it, but just in case.

Pistol - the kindles are not as fast as iPads, but freetime is worth every penny. You can set acceptable (and off limits) characters. Set time limits per day. They can’t actually exit the app. And remotely lock it from your phone! Best $2.99x2 I pay every month. My children enjoy waking up at 5 am and it is a lifesaver that I can hand them a tablet where they can’t find weird shit (headphones are mandatory) and snooze for another hour or so.

But we got ours on Black Friday for like $35. So I was willing to eat that cost if I had to. And ::knock on wood:: ours have lasted a few years with no issues anyway.

Seriously, @juliagulia? Who does that?
My grandmother lives near a college in her town. College kids sometimes get drunk and go around smashing peoples mailboxes. It blows my mind that someone thinks of that as a fun activity. Now she has one that has a steel pole through it, sunk far into the ground, so you can’t knock it down with a baseball bat.
