Just as I was getting out of bed this morning, I heard a very loud thud. M fell out of her bed & she was sobbing & gasping for air. Scared the shit out of me.

Morning! I wanted to take the kids to the splash park this morning, but it's not supposed to get warm until later on. We have dinner plans later with a friend in town. We're going to a kosher restaurant and I'm slightly bummed because it doesn't look like they serve alcohol... FWP. Problem solved. So wise, T.

guster I hate when people insert their opinions about your parenting choices! O is practically glued to his tablet while he’s sick if that makes you feel better. I’m going on vacation with my parents and sisters in two weeks. I’m gearing up for a lot of opinions on what I’m doing wrong as their mom. Especially when it's an out of the ordinary situation. We don't spend every week in a hotel with 50 friends and family. That's over stimulus even for me. I couldn't wait to get home and just zone out with the tv

Poppy the Clown is coming to the dc today. Cadence is pretty excited. I told her last night to wear her bright rainbow dress and maybe the clown will see how colorful she is and pick her to do an activity with her. She looked at me straight-faced and said, "Mom, that's called not sharing and it isn't nice." ....ok, how about you just wear the dress because I like it.

I slept so uncomfortably in a king sized bed with both kids because i had pillows at one end so Z didn’t fall off the bed. Surprisingly there wasn’t much space left for me after both were passed out.

By chance I looked at B's new preschool website and they are offering summer camps. I just called and they had one spot left for the July session! So he'll do two weeks there (3 days/week) and then one week of science camp at his old school. Hope I'm not confusing the issue with his going back and forth but I'm glad he'll have a chance to check out his new school and hopefully meet some future classmates.

guster, why are people like that?! You do you. snoopmommymom, ugh. Sorry about your rough morning! flamingo, very cool about the camps! How long will he be there every day? Potty training woes, guys. Such a reluctant S. She's sitting there telling my H all the reasons she needs a diaper, including but not limited to, "this is not working!"

Cadence keeps asking me when her next dance class is. I may reconsider having her take July and August off.

Did I tell you guys that at the end of the wedding they handed out bacon egg and cheese sandwiches from one of the local delis? I've been to weddings where they've done paper cones of french fries, little sliders, and ice creams. We did little bite sized desserts and candy bags to ho, but a bacon, egg and cheese just sounds genius after you've been drinking since six. I was so sad to miss the end of it!

guster I'm assuming this cousin doesn't have kids of his own? People will always say things and make judgements, because we all parent differently. But do what is best for your children because no one knows them better than you do! We had a busy weekend, I need to go read the weekend thread. We finished up the master bath and the kitchen this weekend. Evie went to the lake with my mom yesterday, so she wasn't in the way (or watching videos all day). She was still exhausted this morning, so I'm sure she'll take a great nap for DC. I had written down that I had an appointment this morning to get set up as a new patient with a PCP. I didn't get the usual automated reminder call this weekend, so I called to confirm and they didn't have me on the schedule. So I left work and ran to Starbucks since I had to fast this morning and didn't know if I could have coffee. Starbucks is so much better than a doctor appointment anyway!

9 to 1 sounds wonderful. Do they have anything for C, flamingo ? No, unfortunately, it's only for ages 3-6. Generally speaking, I have actually had a hard time in this area finding much for her age in terms of nursery school, etc. This school year, she'll be able to do 1 morning/week of "preschool". At this same age (the fall he turned 2) B was doing 2 mornings, but could have done up to 5. A lot of part-time programs up here don't offer anything at all for that age group so I was happy to find what we did. Not that I am in a rush to get them out of the house, but without family here as back-up it will be nice for me to have some dedicated time each week for appointments, etc.

mwhip, He does. A married daughters who's 26, so definitely a different generation of parenting. He was less concerned about their attention for screens and more concerned about how the blue light was going to fry their brains. flamingo, The same around here. Plenty of preschools for three and four-year-olds but very few things for two-year-olds unless I wanted to put him in daycare two mornings a week.

Thanks for thinking of N flamingo! Saturday she woke up totally fine (well still a bit snotty and drooly), but back to her normal self. She is thankfully back at school🙌. Granted they moved her two teachers out so she was sad and I was mad to have to leave her there. guster that is super rude to say something, try to let it roll off your back. I admit that I side eyed my sis a bit for letting her kids stay up on iPads until like 10:30 last weekend at my brother's graduation after my kids went home with mh at 8, but I didn't actually say anything to her about it. I recognize we have different parenting styles and that is fine.

S actually didn’t meet the cut off for the class at H’s school but the director said it was fine to enroll her (birthday cut off is 2/1, S’s bday is 2/26). Most programs are only 1 morning a week for that age here. Also, a lot of people, when they find out that I am sending H for her 3rd year of preschool (and that S is going already) think that’s super weird.

I met my coworkers cutest puppy ever yesterday - 12 week old Portuguese water dog😍. And my kids were terrified of it whenever they got close to them, barked, or generally acted like a real puppy.. i think I've failed as a mother - I so want a dog and now my kids are petrified of them apparently. We see dogs all the time in our building but they are always well behaved on a leash.. I hope we can get more exposure so they don't actually have a real fear of them😣

I recognize we have different parenting styles and that is fine. I don't know how I feel about it. I keep thinking of what the alternative would be. The kids ate and then played with a sticker book for a bit and then I moved them to their iPads so the rest of us could continue to eat. If I didn't pass those screens along, either I'd have to remove myself from the situation to entertain them or they'd easily make it miserable for everybody else while they tried to enjoy brunch. MH and I don't have help. The other kid at the wedding had both sets of grandparents there, two aunts and an uncle. MH and I have each other and sometimes when we want to eat or have a conversation with another adult or pack a house or talk to a plumber, we don't have a choice, but to offer a screen. ETA: I guess it struck a deeper nerve then I thought it did.

guster You do soooooo much with your kids all the time. I love all their crafts & art & activities. Giving your kid the ipad so you can finish your dinner is not a big deal and your cousin needs to STFU.

Hi, morning all.
My work week calendar seems a bit better; I might squeeze in a car tune up appointment and head to the Dr myself. I've been randomly spotting through the month, generally around my ovulation time. I dont want to google, but if anyone has any experience I'd like to know what I should be asking my Dr about. I'm not on any birth control/IUD, or drugs etc. My last pap was January 2017, a couple months after J was born and all came back ok.

guster, PLEASE don't let that comment bother you for 1 more second. He has no idea what he is talking about. Do not feel guilty. You are doing a great job with those kids and a few hours of "blue light" isn't going to change that! Ugh, I hate when people judge for stupid shit that is none of their business!!!!!!
