You don't need to go cleaning baseboards, but there's no food in the house heybulldog? I mean... I make sure there's food for my kid and the babysitter when I'm going to be gone four hours.

I’m not leaving my kids with shitty debt tied to their SS but I did leave my house a mess for my ILs. They’d re staying with the kids while H and I got to a wedding in NYC. So that’s my confession: We are leaving town today and I did not tidy up my house or leave food for my ILs or my children. Did you at least leave money for groceries and incidentals?

My mom would rip me a new one if I left her with a messy house, my kids, and no food.

I actually feel super guilty so I plan on leaving work early and stopping at the store for basics like pasta, frozen pizzas, breakfast things, and milk.

Meanwhile.. I have a 3481.27 gas bill in my name that I’m about to sue for. So there’s that. Fuck family. Jaysus! I am firmly with you in the fuck family camp. How does one rack up that much in charges? Were they trying to fry eggs using the temperature of the house?

I’m scandalized by no food. I usually make a big batch of crockpot something that I know my kid will eat before leaving him with someone for the weekend. And make sure we have milk and breakfast stuff.

Even when my brother dog sits for me I leave a packed fridge and pantry.

My mom tried to have me emancipated when I was 16/17 because she didn’t want to abide by her divorce decree which stated she was responsible for 1/3 of my college tuition.
She then sued me/my dad when I was a junior in college because my military service gave me transfer credits which “put me at 120 hours and I should be able to graduate” despite not actually finishing my degree program.
I found the loans the took out in my name to pay for her portion when they went into default. She never paid a dime.

I guess my confession is I went (a little, more like way) overboard on the snacks last week. M is two and eats like a teenager and I didn't want my ILs to have to worry about buying everything for him. We got back and my MIL said, "You brought SO MANY snacks." Lol yeah and he ate most of it.

My parents would be staging an intervention for me if I left the house a mess and no food for them when they came to babysit. Once when H was deployed while I was super pregnant and DS1 was in a bratty stage, my mom came to visit and I hadn't cleaned very well. She practically moved in with me she was so worried.

I had planned on meal planning and making t really easy for them but never got around to it. I’m just going to grab some stuff on my way home from work.

My parents would just order out because they wouldnt want to cook while taking care of the kids so I'm eh on the no food. Dirty house on the other hand would bug me.

I’m kind of shocked at how many people get cash for their newborns/kids? Never have I ever been given straight up money for my kid as a gift. Target gift card maybe.

I plan to be super extra when my MIL keeps DD and comes to “help” when the babies are born. She will say ugly things about it, but it will make my life easier when I don’t have to think about what I want every day because it’s already planned out. Then I can do actual relaxing when it’s my moms turn to help.

I'm really sorry you have had to deal with that, I can unfortunately sympathize. My "father" is a piece of shit.

Most recently:
She told me my stepsister is finally “learning what marriage is” because her addict husband was abusing her. My mother also called her a compulsive liar because my stepsister didn’t tell anyone about the drugs/abuse.
And she and my bio sister have been taking bets on how long my marriage will actually last. Going rate is a year or less, which “is what usually happens when you marry for money”.

The only person who has ever given money was my dad, which is laughable given the circumstances of our (non-existent) relationship. I spent it on groceries.

Luckily I learned she was a piece of shit years ago. So now I just roll my eyes and blow her off.
We didn’t speak at all from age 13-24

There was an episode of the podcast Criminal where a woman spent years and years of her young adult life trying to stop identity theft. When her mom died, she found out it was her mom who had stolen her identity.

Holy fuck mothafuckinteatime, I would erase them from my life. Purge them from it completely. Nah, you don't get to bring that toxic bullshit around me and mine. Blood means nothing to me, when you are a shitty person.
