Is vaping different than smoking? Yes, but the science isn't really in on if it's much better for you. It doesn't smell or burn though. I am drug dumb. I don’t even know where to get it. FFTC- I was going to get it from an 18 year old I worked with to try but then I quit and she moved a few hours away. I’m so lame.

Church people give the LONGEST notices. It’s the forever goodbye. I learned the hard way not to do that. I gave a 5 month notice once. It was the worst. Now I go for 4 weeks for head of staff, 2-3 weeks for congregation. A full day late, but—My mom gave 3 months notice once (youth director, told them in May it would be her last summer). It was a mess made messier by the fact that she stayed a member of the congregation, just not the staff.

Are we still talking worst classes? I took the history of math. The professor showed us nazi propaganda films to talk about the camera angles. And then he asked for my phone number during the final. Very loudly. In a silent room. Why on earth would you take a class about the history of math? I mean the real history of math is pretty interesting (if you are a geek) but i don't know what nazi propaganda has to do with it

We have medical weed but only for a very few select diagnosis. Anxiety isn’t even listed.

I shamelessly worked hard to make friends when we moved here. I got rejected a lot, but I also have more friends than I’ve had since college. Same. I realized that my largely friendless ways in the big city would not work for me as a SAHM to a baby in a place where there's nothing to do. I have a lot of friends now but my favorite one is moving away because college towns suck like that. One of the best friends I’ve made here just moved to Ghana because the oil and gas industry is rude like that.

Get a Bachelor of Science and fuck all that English and History and Social Sciences right in the face. Nah. That BS unless it's engineering basically means you're either going to grad school or med/dental/pharm/optometry school.

I hate being low to the ground in a car, it makes me feel very vulnerable. Even MH’s sedan just feels too low for me. I will be a SUV person until I die. When my kids don’t need car seats, I will probably upgrade to a less carseat friendly SUV, but I’ll never go smaller. I actually get nauseas in H's car because it's so low. Not a fan. Gimmie all the SUVs.

I think that working from home can really ruin a team. I'm not saying it's all bad, I'm not saying it DOES ruin teams, but unless it's done really well, it can really hurt the group dynamics. maybe this is a UO but I don't care much about team dynamics. do people get their stuff done? if yes, proceed. if not, figure out a solution to that person/people. YES We just got a new department Manager and while I'm technically part of a team, I'm more team adjacent because I work part time, from home, and across different departments. ANYWAY, full circle, this new manager LOVES to send out weekly team inspirational quotes. I'm on their group email so I always get them and just.... ::eyeroll::

Why on earth would you take a class about the history of math? I mean the real history of math is pretty interesting (if you are a geek) but i don't know what nazi propaganda has to do with it I took a class called “basic concepts of math”. The teacher kept classes small and required a weekly one on one with him to make sure we were understanding it. It was not basic. I was the only freshman he let on the class. We essentially spent all year proving 0+1=1. It was something. Lots of proofs. Many proofs by negation. I fucking loved that class. I still have my notes. There are barely any words or numbers. They look like hieroglyphics and I no like ne’er know what they mean. I’m sure it would come back to me if I sat down and read through them, but at the time it was this big puzzle. I was a math tutor (work study) and nobody ever showed so a few people from class would come and we would work the problems out on the chalk boards. I loved it.

I'm laughing at all you cabronas with Spanish minors. I took 4 years of high school Spanish. I retained the basics of introducing myself and asking how someone is, how to say mother fucker (or rather mother whore), and how to tell someone to put the meat in the oven. I really wish high school me had taken classes a lot more serious and actually retained the info.

I speak a lot of Spanish on the daily. To my neighbors, to my family, to my daughter. Etc. A few months ago i hear two people talking downstairs in Spanish. I look out and see my H is having a full on conversation in spanish with the elote man. I'm mind blown because wut? When did that happen? Anyway, i think it has to do with exposure to it. So even if you've taken x amount of years with a language, if you're not exposed a significant amount it won't stick. I think that's why he's been able to pick up a lot in such a short amount of time.

Catching up so not sure if anyone else asked this but could you tell me how she does this? I'm a people manager and am always looking for tips. Our team is smaller and we are mid upper level, but with a range of personalities and tenure. From day 1, he has made it clear that he is available to us for both work and personal issues. He will ping each of us occasionally to ask how things are going. Today, I came into the office to eat lunch with a former coworker. I told him I'd likely take a long lunch. Before he logged off for the day, he pinged me and asked how my lunch was. It wasn't right after I returned which would have looked like he was watching for me to come back. He likes to be copied on all emails which I found annoying at first, but has turned out to be a blessing when another area tries to throw one of us under the bus. But he doesn't micro manage. He lets us handle what we need to but will check in to make sure we don't need help. He's also the first to admit that he's not the expert on our jobs and he isn't meant to be. We have a team call 3x weekly, sometimes they last 10 minutes, others have been an hour. He jokes but is serious. We meet quarterly to volunteer as a team and get together for lunch quarterly as well. Sorry this is a novel. And I haven't caught up so I hope this ist in the middle of a serious thread. Thank you! These are all super helpful.

I'm laughing at all you cabronas with Spanish minors. My first job was at a Mexican restaurant (Taco King for you locals) and was immersed at 14. I took classes but I learned the most there. I loved it. H also learned by working with all Spanish speaking coworkers at his high school job. I can guarantee I got better grades in Honors Spanish then he did, but he’s fluent and I’m not.

So I can speak it, and people always asked if I was Guatemalan. My very very very close friend is from Guatemala. She came here to the states when she was 17. We sort of bonded over telenovelas and we are very close. Anyway. I've learned soooooo many Guatemalan phrases and slang because of her. Whenever I'm with her I turn on the Vos and the accent. Mostly to fit in with her because she's cool and I'm a parrot.

When i speak Spanish with my family though, it's in the Tijuana vernacular. Most Baja Californians have it. I can't explain it but it sounds like Spanish chola. I can speak the castellano for professional settings and grammar and whatnot though.

Worst class I ever took was Macroeconomics. Mostly because it was in the business college with all of the business students and no matter how hard I tried I literally could not understand any of the concepts. It was...embarrassing. I swear I am not dumb, but macroecon kicked my ass. I was in differential equations at the same time and understood the diff eq better. Apparently my brain just does not grasp econ. Same. I aced calc and differential equations. Econ was not great but I think it was partially because I just didn't find it interesting.

Calc I was mandatory attendance at 8AM (my dumb ass didn’t take the AP test in high school) so I slept through class and pulled an A. Calc II was not mandatory attendance but still at 8. I skipped it a lot. Still managed a B with minimal effort. Econ I never missed a class and studied my ass off. Barely scraped out a C on that one.

Yes, but one of your posts (the one I quoted) still entails you taking the classes so that's not a "way around them" to me. That's still doing them. Because from my understanding there were arguments in here against them for 1. Time and 2. Extra costs.... so taking them during high school would eliminate both right? No?
You are still using your time to take the classes. If not for the unnecessary pre reqs you could be using your time to take other classes. I also don't know of free college classes in high school. There are still costs attached.
So I don't see the problem eliminated. Just a work around.

My parents did not fill out FASFA for me either however I was able to declare independent since I had been working since I was 15 and said I supported myself. That is how I got my financial aid, etc. I spent hours on the phone with fasfa and they wouldn’t budge. I did live at home because I couldn’t afford school + rent so they said they HAD to have my moms info. She refused. Love her, but she’s an odd bird. I lived at home as well but I also made income and had my own bills that I was paying for. I had to submit all this documentation. I also had been filing my own taxes due to my income so they had to allow it.

I'm confused by the use of "pre-req" here. I've basically been skimming most of the college posts tho. I think it might actually be general ed classes we're talking about. Prereq would be something that is actually required (like in ttcbabyj example). Though I do think some colleges/universities refer to gened classes as prereqs for some weird reason. I mean I used the term because they were literally classes I had to take before I was able to graduate with my degree.
Sorry my error in word usage.

Psych stats made me cry plenty of times. I heard this about sociology stats too. It's the one class that stopped me from a double major. It was the same at my school. I took it during the summer when it was offered daily as an intense class you complete in shorter time but you meet everyday. As soon as I would get the slightest bit lost I would meet with the teacher.
I knew too many people who thought they were graduating but had to take this class over. You needed a C or better.
