I threatened my high school calculus teacher and my high school principal with a call to the ACLU when they refused to let me drop out of calculus. #entitled For real?? for real. these words came out of my mouth "I've consulted my lawyer" and "This is a violation of my rights."

Psych stats made me cry plenty of times. I heard this about sociology stats too. It's the one class that stopped me from a double major.

I barely passed with a C. Like barely. One of the few clases that made me doubt myself and what the hell i was doing. lol Damn it sound like I'm talking about A bad relationship huh?

I may be the dissenting opinion (but what else is new) but prerequisites are definitely necessary in some cases. I teach Psychological Research Methods, students need to take a college math course that includes statistics and intro to psychology. These two prerequisites are tanamount to the material I teach in my course. I only have 16 weeks to teach my material, I don’t have time to teach stats or psychological perspectives. For 100 level courses we don’t have prerequisites, but sometimes I wish we did. Most of my Intro to Psychology students are not usually prepared to write a comprehensive essay with references. While English 100 is recommended, it is not a requirement. Some students get really offended when you tell them you could not understand their content because of the grammar or you suggest they visit the Writing Center. I went to private Jesuit university, so I do understand execessive core requirements. 9 hours of philosophy was definitely overkill. Psych stats was in my required courses for my degree and met the math course requirement for me. We didn't have to take a separate stats class. Yeah it’s the same for our students. It’s just most of our students don’t declare majors until kind of late. So if they take the regular Math course that includes the stats piece they are fine. But the math prerequisite has to include a stats piece. I receive at least 3 petitions a week from students requesting to waive the math course and the overwhelming majority of the courses or work experience they are presenting doesn’t work. We do use multiple measures at my college as well to help students.

One semester I was stupid enough to take physiology and anatomy at the same time. Stupidest decision ever

I am so grateful that my State School accepted transfer of the Algebra course I took at my private University as my culminating math. I only got a C because I basically cheated off my roommate.
<----- has some sort of number dyslexia and sucks at math.

I took a university course on AI and Art. I wrote a program that created and played jazz. That's as close as I got to an arts course, I got an A

I love my little weed vape pen so much. (JIC I haven't mentioned that in a few months.) Is vaping different than smoking? Yes, but the science isn't really in on if it's much better for you. It doesn't smell or burn though.

Thank goodness for J-school stats. Easiest damn math class I ever took.
My dumb ass, on the other hand, did not realize that just because you test into Calculus does not mean you have to actually take Calculus. If I had known better, I could have started with Algebra II and breezed through the other math credits I had to have instead of struggling through Calc I, Calc II, and Diff. Equations.

Worst class I ever took was Macroeconomics. Mostly because it was in the business college with all of the business students and no matter how hard I tried I literally could not understand any of the concepts. It was...embarrassing.

Someone tell me what calculus even is and I will tell you if i learned it. Derivatives, mostly.

Or maybe it was Microeconomics. Both of them sucked for me.

I really, REALLY wish my high school would have taught literally anything about personal finance/business/economy when I went there. Now they have eleventy classes to prepare students for actual life. Not-a-one when I was in.

Psych stats made me cry plenty of times. I heard this about sociology stats too. It's the one class that stopped me from a double major. I always thought I was terrible at math and did all I could to avoid it until I took stats for sociology majors. I was the highest grade in the class. I still don't know how to feel about that.

I swear I am not dumb, but macroecon kicked my ass. I was in differential equations at the same time and understood the diff eq better. Apparently my brain just does not grasp econ.

This makes sense. I get distracted v v easily. Lol. My coworker that sits adjacent from me has a sticky note on her computer to remind her to stop talking so much. At my last job our office was open concept, and I had that same sticky note up for myself. It said “ Radio Silence.” It helped.

My brain barely grasps Algebra, so. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself.

I threatened my high school calculus teacher and my high school principal with a call to the ACLU when they refused to let me drop out of calculus. #entitled My calc teacher was PISSED when I dropped it, but thankfully did not have to consult laywer (who would have been law school student sister). I was doing ok grade wise but always felt behind and lost (she was teaching it fast so people could take the AP test). It was the last quarter of senior year and I figured I didn't need the stress anymore. I pointed out that I wouldn't need calc for my Political Science major and she said "good luck with that". Oh...

Back when my sister was in high school, they had business casual Tuesdays. I thought it was cool because they had to dress like they were going to work. I know jobs mgnt be getting lenient with that now, but I thought that was a cool thing back then. This was like 8 years ago. I didn't have that.
