guster, when I had to give benadryl for one of the kids I asked the pharmacist at the drug store and they helped with dosing. I do remember the box saying for 6 and up though.

flamingo I would say it's fine as long as you do something with them before hand. I usually take LO to a Halloween party earlier in the month or in September. Would the grandparents take them out? If they would the kids will not even notice because candy.

guster, not Benadryl, but Cass takes adult Zyrtec because it's for "ages" 6+ but really more about weight. Cass is the size of a 6 yo and her doc had no concerns about her taking it. I would guess if she meets the weight recommendations if they are listed it's okay.

I feel like we've had this discussion before, but I can't remember the consensus, so humor me: are we terrible parents if we miss Halloween due to a trip? Honest opinion, I can take it. (If it matters, haven't booked yet but rates are insanely good if we go that week, plus we are trying to coordinate grandparents babysitting and to a lesser extent my H's work schedule) I don't think it's an issue. Especially since it's not like you plan to skip out every year. The kids can have just as much fun with the grandparents. And if your area is anything like mine, there are a million fall fest things every weekend in OCT so many other opportunities to celebrate than just ToT the night of. I would travel without guilt. Halloween prep can be done beforehand, getting costumes, carving pumpkins--go book that vaca.

Omggg inthekitty!! So exciting!! I can’t wait to see pics when you buy something!! She is such a doll dapostrophe 😍😍😍 guster you can just reduce the dose. Like if it’s 5 ml for a 6 year old you’d give 2.5 ml to a 3 year old. I don’t know if that’s is what you’re asking though. It’s the same mg per ml as the Benadryl for littler kids.

I think as long as the kids get to trick or treat or whatever with someone, you're good! This reminds me that C just ate our last piece of Halloween candy yesterday!

I took the girls to the pool after S woke up from nap. H had a blast and S cried and clung to me 80% of the time. Like 15 minutes before we left she finally was playing by herself. I hope she does better next time.

Help, please. MH bought the generic children's Benadryl. It says 12.5mg per 5ml, but the box is labeled ages 6-11. Is this the Benadryl that we can give our 4yo) if there's an allergic reaction? I don't remember if the name brand box specifically listed ages, but it might have. Here’s our dosing chart you should be fine with the concentration you got. barringtonpediatrics.com/over-the-counter-medicine-dosages/

vino and guster, it's really out of nowhere we're looking for houses. I always look at houses for sale because it's what I do. I started looking more aggressively when we were thinking of redoing our flooring because I wanted to be sure we didn't want to just move. Now it looks like we may be doing both. Oh well. One went for sale in our neighborhood (literally 2 blocks away) that is a major upgrade from ours on my favorite street in the neighborhood (off the big park and no traffic). Pros: It "felt" right when we first looked it. Even MH who was lukewarm on house hunting loved it when we looked and talked about making offers right away. The room that would be Cass' has a horse mural in it and she's obsessed with horses. Maddie's school friend lives right across the street. The parents of that girl have nearly the same names as the relatives who died and willed the girls trust funds as well as a dog with the same name who's also a rescue from San Antonio. It felt like signs were pointing us in that direction. Double oven, nice floorplan, huge bonus room/family room, way bigger in general (going from around 1900 sqft to 3100!), same school district, much nicer part of the neighborhood where people take care of their houses. Cons: small yard (we basically don't have a yard now so it's more than what we've got), little privacy, houses are very close together (but not as close as ours are now), 2 car garage and I really want 3 car, and the kitchen is dark and I don't like the colors in there. There's another house on that street and one about a mile away we're looking at tonight . Our preapproval would allow us to get in the snooty new development next to ours with 1/2 acre lots so lots of space and privacy. I don't like the floorplan. It's 2400 sq ft which would be plenty if utilized well. The main floor is like a dream, but the upper level has cramped bedrooms and odd uses of space. We'd also be on septic and have to pay for expensive upgrades like a sprinkler system, and maintain a football field's worth of lawn. Plus it's WAY more expensive. It's new construction so we'd get to pick all the colors. There is a lot of attention to detail with nice features throughout the home like no slam cabinets and pull-out drawers in the kitchen. This one would probably make us house poor and I still want to be able to travel; the benefit of a small lawn is we could take off for a month without a care because the front yard is fully maintained by HOAs but in the snooty neighborhood we'd have to make arrangements to care for the house. There's also the thought of holding off selling and getting property and building in a year, but honestly I wouldn't know the first thing of how to go about it, what to look for in property, all the things that need to get set up like clearing the land, utilities, etc. We'd need more $$ at hand up front. It's very intimidating and I like the idea of the girls growing up in a neighborhood surrounded by kids. Lots of decisions to make in a short amount of time. I couldn't sleep last night so I combed Zillow to ensure everything was considered. We feel the pressure to move fast before offers are made.

guster All i found is that it’s based on weight, can you weigh her and google the dosage? I normally do 5 ml, bc that's for 29-37 lbs, but I didn't know if the generic was different. I just going to buy a bottle of the regular stuff. I don't need to give it to them but I always like to have it in the house.

inthekitty that's so exciting! I hope everything works out for y'all. eta: I just saw you follow-up with pros/cons...I'm swooning at double oven and 3100 SF. We're in 2000ish now and I miss the big kitchen with eat-in that came with our larger house in FL. eta2: Also, I'm a stickler for a good floorplan b/c that is something that really can't be changed without a lot of expense and headache. I could definitely deal with doing some upgrades in the kitchen, whether it's immediately or over time, if the rest of the house feels right and I liked the layout, location, etc. Just my .02 as I live vicariously thru you

update: we might be able to get the same rates by leaving Friday, Nov 2, so we'd be here for Halloween!! Fingers crossed this works out with the grandparents. My parents are fine with whatever but ILs are a bit trickier...le sigh. It would be easier to just have my parents do it but I'm trying to be fair and offer split time.
