I just saw an interesting theory on Twitter that Mueller could indict Trump on federal crimes where he also has state exposure. If he tries to pardon himself, it's considered an admission of guilt and he waives his 5th amendment right for a possible state trial.
Doesn't seem like Mueller's style, but it's an interesting thought

I feel like news on Pence has been v v v quiet lately, on purpose I'm sure. I wish there was a better back up option to DT. I have to remind myself that removing DT doesn't remove the whole administration.

Doesn't seem like Mueller's style, but it's an interesting thought I heard mention of invoking the 25th as well. And letting Pence pardon him. ETA and I realize that doesnt directly impact State but its still icky

According to that article, the trust is already in debt and the only way to keep it from getting worse is a 25 percent tax increase, not the planned cut.

I just saw a headline that Kellyanne is stating she had nothing to do with the statement about the Trump Tower meeting. I don’t like her and I fully believe she helped to make Trump seem more palatable but she (and her husband) aren’t idiots. I think they see what’s coming. And she wants nothing to do with the fall out from the revelations about Trump dictating that statement.

It's definitely maddening to sit here and watch the Republicans just sort of do and say....nothing (with the exception of a small few who have been more outspoken) on Trump's BS with Russia.
I honestly think that to them they rationalize it all by saying "well he's a blowhard, and right now he's just doing his blowhard thing and talking shit."
I think they underestimate what he may try to do when things really heat up with this investigation.
And as long as they are still getting cash flow from donors, they will sit back. When donors start to jump ship, then we'll see a change in tone.

Why are Barbara Comstock's signs so huge? Ugh. Georgetown Pike looks like a billboard farm.

This, and if it all comes after Dems take back Congress after the '18 elections (please to all the gods that this happens), are the hope I'm clinging to. The midterms are keeping me going. If Republicans retain all control, I fear there may be no hope left... I keep telling myself there is a really good chance they will, just to try and keep my expectations low. For a while I was super convinced of the blue wave, but I really don't want to be too naïve.

The Dems should really take some notes from these Parkland kids though, my gosh.
They get it.

The Atlantic published a chapter from Ben Rhodes's new book and I have thoughts. 1. I miss Obama 2. Fuck Mitch McConnell 3. I miss having a POTUS who could and would hire the smartest people and then ask for their advice. 4. I miss having a POTUS with humility. 5. I miss having a POTUS who realized that the presidency is bigger than the man. www.theatlantic.com/amp/article/561887/?utm_source=twb&__twitter_impression=true

Without meaning to, I feel Trump has firmly cemented Obama's place in history as a great president. The stark comparisons between them are astonishing.

Mara: if the Mueller probe is unconstitutional, why is POTUS letting it continue?
SHS: meh, we don't need a special counsel, NO COLLUSION, but we continue to cooperate.
Mara: OK but why is HIS justice department participating in something he considers illegal?
SHS: I SAID NO COLLUSION

Brian: Could POTUS maybe come out here and take questions at some point, like, ever? Is anyone concerned that his tweets are undermining news coverage of the actual legislation taking place?
SHS: Well he talks to you guys in the driveway, what do you want? It's not our fault if you decide to cover his tweets.
