We have two sets: a novelty owl set (because I really like owls) and a nice copper set that we use daily.

Do you use salt and pepper shakers in your home? I have a salt cellar and a pepper grinder. Idk where that lands me. Us folk are special snowflakes.

I have a salt shaker, but that one lives in the pantry. I take it out when I cut up cucumber and add salt and chile to that. Or for stews after we've add lemon to them. I also never measure anytbing though. I don't live the recipe life. But I have one of those small salt containers that lives by my stove and I season my food there.

My parents use them when they come. We do our veggies unsalted, so we add some for us. DD doesn’t care. None of my other guests use them. Old southern people use a lot of salt. My grandma will salt watermelon. Salt on watermelon is delicious.

I sprinkle salt from the big canister of sea salt from Trader Joe's, and have a pepper grinder. It's pretty rare they actually end up on the table. I guess I should get a salt shaker for company? Plain pepper lives in the cupboard and pretty much only gets used for recipes.

I just get the sea salt and pepper grinders from Trader Joe's and they live near the stove, I'll put them on the table if we have guests or are eating something that might need it, though that's rare.

I have never had anyone ask for salt and pepper in my home. Mh went to culinary school, so I've learned to season things well (or he'll swoop in behind me and add more salt), but I still have one friend and her husband who are salt fiends and always ask for salt when they come to dinner. They're also people who will salt food before tasting it, which drives me nuts. I've just grown to accept it and put the shaker out when they come by.

I use several Chile powder mixes from my local Mexican store. Tajin is one of them. I also put tapatio or Valentina. Hellooooooo gastritis

I have a ceramic container with a lid for salt and a pepper grinder next to the stove for cooking. I probably have shakers somewhere. But we typically don't add salt and pepper to our food once it's plated. This is us too. I have a bamboo salt well with Kosher salt in it and a pepper grinder on a dish near the stove. We only use Kosher salt so it would not come out of a shaker anyway.

But if you can find a tajin bottle, your cucumbers just became more exciting.

I’m southern and salt blind. SO thinks I oversalt everything so we’ve come to a happy medium.
Some things I prefer the cracked salt and pepper on it after cooking. Like green beans are good seasoned while cooking, but I also prefer a little pink salt on top. 👌🏻
I’m also a fan of li hing powder on everything sweet. 🤤

DH seasons well but I like a LOT of black pepper so I do grab the pepper grinder often and add some more. My dad and stepmom like things very salty and always look at us like we're crazy when we say we don't have shakers and set out what we have.

We were at dinner last Sunday with friends of ours and her father and aunt. The aunt was probably in her 60s and I watched her put more salt on her cheese steak and I promptly died. Like whhhyyyyyyy?!?!?!

We only have the grinders and they live in the cabinet. We do not put salt and pepper on the table UNLESS my brother is visiting and he is allergic to all peppers, so pepper doesn’t go into the food at cooking time.
I have s&p shakers from my grandma, but I don’t use them.
+1 to never being asked for it as we properly season as we are cooking.
