We went grocery shopping (very) early this morning. I put F in our ring sling, rather than drag out the stroller, and just wore him around the store. It was nice to get out, and F absolutely loved the sling. Conked right out. This is how we grocery shop! Makes it so easy and she loves it

Even with my mom’s help this morning it took me like 2 hours to get both girls ready to leave for the park.... I don’t think I will ever manage to get DD1 to preschool summer camp on time in a couple weeks. DH is going to be out of town for 3 days next week so I'm going to have to get DD1 to daycare with H in tow. I'm not sure how I'm going to do it. Thank goodness he's going to help me in the mornings when I go back to work in 10(!) days. I told him last night that this two kid business is hard.

Why do people have no problem with getting in a baby's personal space??

I swear I've napped almost as much as F today. H keeps checking in with me and I'm like "no no, I'm good". 5 minutes later - 😴

Do hospital hats fit any baby heads or do my babies have huge heads? My kids have huge heads and they fit. Barely and only for like a day, but they fit.

As long as the dog from upstairs can shut up

Doea anyone know of a good step by step ring sling how-to? I watch videos but feel like its not making sense to me. I usually use the k'tan but someone gifted me a ring sling and it is really cute fabric.

After 4 or 5 blowouts, we're going up to size 1 diapers. Now to figure out when to return that extra case of newborns.

oreobitsy I love the first video by Wrapping Rachel that mrsweasley posted. If your sling is brand new it’s probably still stiff, especially if it’s linen. That’ll make a big difference in how easily it adjusts vs watching the people in the videos adjust their worn-a-million-times sling. Depending on the material, washing, steam ironing, fluffing in a cool dryer with dryer balls can help. Sitting on it. I find sleeping on a new wrap breaks it in pretty quickly without much effort. And of course using it is an excellent way to soften it up in all the right spots.

It’s our town’s summer festival today. MH took DS1 to the parade and such. J and I just woke from a three hour nap. Newborn photos this afternoon!

Thanks for the videos on the ring sling mrsweasley. I bought a mesh one to be able to hold L when we go to the pool and beach this summer, and I struggled with the directions that were included.

Thanks mrsweasley, rhat firat video makes it seem easy. lily, I bet you that is why it seem harder, I think my fabric is stiffer. We are having a lot of problems with my 5 year old acting out. Combine a move with a newborn and it makes sense why he is acting out but it is really tough. We have tried a lot of redirection, one on one time, and finding fun activities to do. He is hitting his brother and us when he gets upset along with saying hurtful things. It's frustrating. My plan for tonight and tomorrow is to just pack up all I have left so that I can just be more present. I plan on also sipping a small glass of wine while I pack.

What are you ladies doing to keep your baby awake long enough to nurse? DD2 is nursing 10-12 time per day but only about 5-10 min total per session (and one side per feeding). I feel like she’s not getting enough even though she’s having more than the number of wet diapers “required” (although not exactly heavy wetting). I’ve tried every trick I remember from DD1: changing diaper before nursing, undressing, using a wet washcloth to wake her up. Nothings working. We have her newborn appt at the pedi tomorrow so I’ll be asking there as well. I also think she also might have reflux. The times she does eat for longer, she gets really strong hiccups and spits everything up.

F has finally started to wake up more often than not by himself at feeding time, but the times he doesn't, I start by lifting him to my shoulder and giving a good strong "burping". I actually then give him one side, and then change him before I give him the other side, but he doesn't really cry for a wet diaper so I'm not sure if that would work for every baby. I sometimes have to put him back on the first breast to finish up after he's done with the second, but that's what works for us more often than not.

He also was a quick eater and only on one side. Your baby may be getting enough, does weight gain seem fine? The fact you are getting a good amount of wet diapers seems like a good sign, even if it doesn't seem like the nursing is lasting long.

Yes, she'll be in kinder, although she was already in prek 4x/week for half days so hopefully the transition won't be too hard. I also have a 14yo and I'm really hoping he'll be helpful, especially with his sister since I know she'll need extra attention.

So tired. DD was up nursing from around 12-2 last night. Finally fell back to sleep until 6.
I am going to be so sad when DH goes back to work. We have a nice little morning routine going. When she wakes up around 6 I feed her, he takes the dog out. Then DH brings the baby back in the room where they hang out/doze together and I relax with the older kid and dog.
I ordered my pump-it should be here tomorrow so by the end of the week I want to attempt bottles with her and have DH feed her intermittently. (I do want to start our freezer stash) We already introduced the paci.
