We are not allowed to post pictures of people on our nextdoor, or you get blocked for a few weeks. this seems like a good idea. We had our town facebook page blow up over some idiot posting pictures of 2 boys throwing rocks into the stream that runs through 1 neighborhood. it was all "NO RESPECT!" Then kid's parent saw it and shit went south fast. The whole thing was so fucking stupid. People bitch all day long about kids vandalizing shit, loitering, then 2 kids try to entertain themselves and there is still bitching lol. I get very annoyed at all of the "concern" that is really just judgement. There was a guy posted a picture of a woman who let her dog poop on his yard and not clean it up. He was blocked for "shaming." Most recently this woman started a post with a guy "casing houses" and taking pictures of them- turns out it's a local guy who does yard work.
They are not very quick, though, at deleting the posts, but that's because it's done by our neighborhood moderators who I'm sure aren't on all the time.

We recently had a neighbor fight where a man posted a stock photo of a barking pitbull and complained about dogs roaming around his neighborhood and attacking people etc. and then a neighbor came on later saying that her dog (pitbull) was missing and accusing the first neighbor of killing it. It turned into...something.

I don’t have a ND but we have fb pages. I was bored one day and got into a fight with someone who was complaining about a car being parked in front of her neighbor’s house (on a public street) for a few days and they were out of town. Ohhh are we in the same ND group? lol Mine is pretty boring but a post exactly like this caused some drama. ETA I just realized you said you DON'T have ND. I have no excuse for my lack of reading comprehension.

75% of our NextDoor is boring. The rest of it is....something else. The amount of times and things people report to the police has my head spinning. Most recently two young women were asking for a jump for their car and the OP found it suspicious because their power windows were working. So he gave them a jump and called the police. No amount of posts explaining that power windows draw so much less power than starting a whole car and therefore there was nothing suspicious here could convince him and a few other commenters that calling the police was excessive. There are also a lot of people posting whenever they see a coyote and it’s whereabouts/what direction it’s heading. Sometimes accompanied by photos. My favorite is when the photos are other animals, not actually coyotes. Posts like these remind me that not everybody would be ridiculously excited to see a coyote. There’s a population at the preserve near my house, but they are really shy and I’ve only seen one once around here.

An older woman posted an incredibly long post on my ND about a suspicious person going from house to house and lurking in the bushes. Like sooo long and insanely descriptive. There were a few responses about calling the police and then someone, I assume an actual next door neighbor posted “I TOLD YOU IT WAS THE METER READER, SHARON. He had a frickin Peoples vest and marked truck, SHARON”. And I don’t think I have laughed that hard in a long time. Is SHARON the new REBECCA? I clearly need to get on next door.

For some of us city-turned-suburb people, those coyote posts are really helpful, okay?!

That's what ours is. I delete the emails I get with updates now because boring. Why don't you just turn them off? The only updates I get an email about are the lost pets because we're in kind of a rural community. Other than that I don't care. I mean, it helps that we only have like....a post a week in general so... We must be neighbors.

For some of us city-turned-suburb people, those coyote posts are really helpful, okay?! Right? When I first moved here and started chasing after a coyote while pushing my baby in the stroller because either thought my dog had escaped. Luckily, said coyote wanted nothing to do with the crazy lady and baby chasing them yelling "Lucille! Get over here!"

The biggest blow up on my next door was the "is this your dog" post with a photo of a dog squished in the road...

My old neighborhood's ND was full of crazy racist people. One person posted a video of an elderly woman ringing the doorbell, standing there a few minutes then getting a surprised look on her face and walking away. With a warning about how burglary rings send out scouts for them and can come in all shapes and sizes and can anyone identify this woman and be on the alert! A response from someone two houses down said that it was her friend coming to visit and had accidentally gone to the wrong house, was horribly embarrassed, and could they please remove the video. In true ND fashion... No, it's important to remind people to stay vigilant. It took two weeks before ND took it down for them.
My new neighborhood is pretty mellow. Lots of service recommendations, pets, etc. There's a weekly walk on Wednesday nights and a hike on Sundays.. "Miles of smiles! We walk 5 miles together as a group! Family and furry friends welcome!"

This post inspired me to look at my ND. The biggest scandal recently was a bunch of olds talking about the white van that has been driving around. Occasionally the driver will even stop and look at their phone! This van has been going around for months. What are they up to??? Someone caught an image of the van on their security camera, and someone had to explain that it is an Amazon delivery van. 😂 My literal next door neighbor called me one day because someone took a picture of my front porch. She would not accept my explanation that it was the amazon delivery people until I was able to send her a screen shot of the pic on my amazon app. Even then, she was skeptical, but she did drop it.

Poor white ladies. First they narrowly avoid having their kids kidnapped from target, only to get home to find burgarly rings casing their home by pretending to deliver packages or check the meter. What a terrifying world we live in.

He does not find it amusing.

What finally lead me to uninstall ND is when someone shared a close-up picture of poop and hundreds opined as to what mammal created the scat. Some were fearful of bears...there are no bears near us. This led to poop pictures becoming a regular thing and I gave up. Maybe my ND was some sort of a time vortex and it was really all just us posting about poop decades in the future when we all live in the 55+ area of my neighborhood.

I am dying. There has been a lot of talk of housing for chronically homeless in our neighborhood, and the outrage people have about it is ridiculous. This is the same guy I was saying does the other funny posts. I can't stop laughing.

What a terrifying world we live in. My ND is full of them thinking people are trying to snatch them all the time. I don't think the black market sales in middle aged white women is what they think it is, but we should all be aware.

No pictures but did provide the make, model and license number of the car. He thinks it’s a scam to ask for a jump 🙄

Lol yes. Those are the complaints people have about the actual homeless people/building being built in our neighborhood. Some of the comments are awful.

This is really minor but made me laugh: yesterday someone posted this long vent complaining about people posting too many items for sale, especially for a few bucks. She said they should just have a garage sale if they have that much stuff to sell and “can we please not use this forum for that”.
Today I got an email from NextDoor reminding me that this weekend is our district’s “online garage sale” and to post anything I’d like to sell.
😂 I snickered imagining her reaction.
