We just have a lot of know it alls on our ND. People complaining about decibel levels of lawn mowers, then the same people complaining about overgrown lawns. How annoying the students are (it's a college town and it was here before you were born, HELLO), too much traffic, anto-development. And city council wannabes (who didn't get enough votes) complaining about the mayor and citing code and articles and shit.
I find it infuriating so i mostly avoid it.

And you knew and trusted the people in your village. Sure, you might want to know if your kid was being an asshole but do you want your kid’s asshole behavior along with their photos documented on the internet for all to see forever and ever? I also think that the motive of these posters is questionable and that matters to me at least. Also someone who is going out of there way to bitch about asshole teenagers to nextdoor may have a skewed version of what asshole teenager is. Teenagers be teenagering, I'd be flippin pissed if someone blasted my kid because he was being loud at starbucks or trying the F word on for size like the group of young kids at the park the other day. Live in a city, city things will happen. Yes. If it’s the village, you say something in the moment. The 5th graders cursing like sailors at the playground in my neighborhood got a, “Hey, y’all, she’s five. Can you watch your language?” The response was, “yes mam. We’re sorry.” The end.

Y’all inspired me to join ND in my area and it seems to be mostly about brown tail moths.

Based on this board, I wanted ND so badly. Then we got it. It’s dumb boring shit on mine all day. I. Want. Drama. Ours is at least 85% lost or found pets. The other 15% is teenagers looking for jobs, people selling things, or looking for recommendations. Booooring. That's what ours is. I delete the emails I get with updates now because boring.

So, I just opened up the treasure trove that is my ND page. There is a post with a picture (very clear, easily identifiable) of a man that this woman says sits in a local coffee shop and seems agitated, talking to himself, cursing, and says vile things to women. She is putting it on ND for the following reason: "I guess the point of this is to find out if people recognize him and maybe have some background info on this individual. I just end up moving seats, but again, I’m unnerved by him and it just doesn’t feel right. There’s more to this... has anyone else seen him around? Have you experienced something similar? Doesn’t hurt to be aware of your surroundings and to notice erratic behavior... I hope this is nothing and he is getting the help he obviously needs " What do you think? Is it ok for her to post about this and his picture on ND? Would you say something either way (support for her or against her posting this)? Would you report the post? Just curious if my initial reaction is what most people would think. I usually blast people who post these kinds of pics. Other people usually chime in and then they take it down.

75% of our NextDoor is boring. The rest of it is....something else. The amount of times and things people report to the police has my head spinning. Most recently two young women were asking for a jump for their car and the OP found it suspicious because their power windows were working. So he gave them a jump and called the police. No amount of posts explaining that power windows draw so much less power than starting a whole car and therefore there was nothing suspicious here could convince him and a few other commenters that calling the police was excessive.
There are also a lot of people posting whenever they see a coyote and it’s whereabouts/what direction it’s heading. Sometimes accompanied by photos. My favorite is when the photos are other animals, not actually coyotes.

I don’t have a ND but we have fb pages. I was bored one day and got into a fight with someone who was complaining about a car being parked in front of her neighbor’s house (on a public street) for a few days and they were out of town.

Last month someone accused this poster of lying about being a foster parent. The poster was asking for donations. They went back and forth. And then someone was like if she’s in need of bedding donations so bad to lie what’s the big deal. Constant postings of the porch pirate that steals your package and gives the camera the finger. And the constant debate about how long should “lost cat” postings should stay up. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ I just follow to see when the avocado lady is selling her avocados 2 for $1. I don’t know why the avocado lady thing is so funny to me. But that’s a good deal, I’d follow for that too!

Oh, you have pics? Yeah, that's a bobcat and in no way, shape, or form is it the same threat as a mountain fucking lion.

I actually enjoy our town's FB page. One time there was a guy complaining that his car was towed from a restaurant lot after he left it there because because he was drinking.
Turns out (it came out in the comments) that he didn't actually even go into the restaurant, just parked in their (Small, free lot right in the center of town) and went somewhere else. THEN left his car there the ENTIRE next day during a festival that was right in town (so premium parking) and it was towed late that afternoon.
Like...dude.

An older woman posted an incredibly long post on my ND about a suspicious person going from house to house and lurking in the bushes. Like sooo long and insanely descriptive. There were a few responses about calling the police and then someone, I assume an actual next door neighbor posted “I TOLD YOU IT WAS THE METER READER, SHARON. He had a frickin Peoples vest and marked truck, SHARON”. And I don’t think I have laughed that hard in a long time.

This post inspired me to look at my ND. The biggest scandal recently was a bunch of olds talking about the white van that has been driving around. Occasionally the driver will even stop and look at their phone! This van has been going around for months. What are they up to???
Someone caught an image of the van on their security camera, and someone had to explain that it is an Amazon delivery van. 😂

My ND is 1/3 people asking for handyman/landscaper/etc recommendations, 1/3 people asking if anyone has seen their indoor-outdoor cat, and 1/3 people complaining about dog owners not scooping their dog poop (spoiler: it's cat poop from aforementioned missing cats). Every once in a while a normal post will go sideways ("There was never dog poop before the new people moved here.").

And then got mad that she never sees one for the gas or electric so she's getting overcharged because they aren't checking. Sigh.

One guy on my ND likes to post things making fun of the other ridiculous ND people and it cracks me up. One day he posted about this crazy mystery liquid falling from the sky getting our cars wet (rain) and about a guy that was going through everyone's mail boxes (mailman).

We are not allowed to post pictures of people on our nextdoor, or you get blocked for a few weeks. this seems like a good idea. We had our town facebook page blow up over some idiot posting pictures of 2 boys throwing rocks into the stream that runs through 1 neighborhood. it was all "NO RESPECT!" Then kid's parent saw it and shit went south fast. The whole thing was so fucking stupid. People bitch all day long about kids vandalizing shit, loitering, then 2 kids try to entertain themselves and there is still bitching lol. I get very annoyed at all of the "concern" that is really just judgement.
