Happy birthday, nam2013!! I hope you're having a wonderful day! Also team shuttle, jewels. I'm glad to see everyone else agrees and I'm not being overly breezy about my kids' safety.

jewels I would be fine with the shuttle. I usually take lo's car seat with us on the plane so I can keep him contained. I also buy a new toy and a few books to keep him entertained. But I've only flown with 1 so it's a bit different.

Thanks guys I was leaning towards shuttle but like joelies, wasn't sure if I was being too breezy. Plus this means I can drink at the wedding Now I have to find out if there is a shuttle to the dinner the night before as well.

I had to pick L up from daycare due to a rash she's currently driving me nuts by continuously pulling the bottle out of A's mouth and screaming that he doesn't need to eat.

chrisy01, I don't think I will bring the car seat b/c then I have to lug it through the airport. S has flown a bunch and never had a car seat. He stays pretty well contained, so he's not my problem. My concerns are: 1) Keeping B contained/entertained/quiet 2) Bathroom trips. When S or I have to use the bathroom, I somehow will have to do it with all 3 of us in that tiny airplane bathroom?!? That sounds... not delightful. It's a short flight so fingers crossed no one has to go!

Happy birthday @nam Ugh, I’m so sorry tgrimes what about taking him to a new pediatrician just to get a fresh set of eyes and maybe some new ideas? sands42 I’m excited for you!! dapostrophe I’m ready to meet baby!!! Fingers crossed today is the day!! Nothing big for me today. Gym with a friend and I have a girl night tonight. Dh is also coming home early so we can go get our biometric screens for insurance. We get money in our heath fund based on the results and if hey are better or the same from the previous year, and I know I’ll probably get docked because I’m a few pounds heavier than last year, but it pisses me off that there’s no way to take into account that I’m heavier because I had a baby four months ago.

Ugh, I’m so sorry tgrimes what about taking him to a new pediatrician just to get a fresh set of eyes and maybe some new ideas? *snip The practice we go to has 3 pedis. I met with the other one for his 18 mo appt and he's always been the one pushing the allergy issues. I really like this pedi better, which is why I wanted her opinion. I don't need any referrals to see a specialist so if I don't like what she has to say, I'll probably start with the allergist and go from there.

Also hi!!
I got roped into yet another work trip out to CA (for all of ~48 hours) in mid-June, just before my return trip to Calgary later in the month. That'll make 5 work-related trips from mid-April through mid-July. Add in all of Colin's year-end activities, plus our own trips, and it just FEELS hectic. I don't mind the travel all that much but I feel like I'm putting DH out and worse, Colin gets so emotional about me leaving. At least Chase is cool about it, haha.
Anyhow hopefully our AC will be fixed today but I'm not holding my breath. I feel bad for DH, who's stuck in the house all day, and all itchy on top of it. He's got a good sense of humor about the whole thing at least!

jewels Y'all will do great! My biggest tip for B would be lots of snacks, esp. stuff you don't normally let him have. The no-mess coloring stuff is good, or sticker books. C is a fan of the Magna-doodle, and this (I've seen for other shows, too). That is what I use on car trips and she loves it. I try to limit my carry-on to one bag so I have my hands free; if S has a little wheely-suitcase or backpack--something he can carry/pull himself--that is ideal so you're not lugging his stuff, too. Hopefully you'll get lucky and S will sleep (one can dream, right??) When I have flown with both kids, I had B use the potty right before we boarded to avoid the airplane bathroom. I think we did have to use it once on one leg b/c we had a really tight connection--we used it after boarding but before take-off. It wasn't too bad, I just held C. Granted she was younger/smaller so it was easier. I know other moms who have asked a flight attendant to watch one child if they need to help another.

tgrimes, I'm no doctor, however, I agree that there has to be something else going on with H. He's definitely sick more than the average toddler and if there is something an allergist or immunologist or anyone else can possibly do to make it better, I say go see them. It can't hurt, right? This, and IIRC he's also had some antibiotic resistance? Another sign that he isn't fighting off infection as well as the most people can.

No antibiotic resistance, they just changed his antibiotic based on the cultures. The virus he had was known to be resistant to certain drugs. Do you think blood work the pedi could order would tell me anything or should i just make an appt with an immunologist? Should I try the allergist first and see what they say? Tell me what to do. Lol.

Not much planned today. I need to get to the grocery store at some point. I'm not brave enough to iron my super long hair while I'm naked. I wear a robe to get ready. chrisy01 P seems good so far this morning. She was warm and crying uncontrollably several hours after shots but had some Tylenol and has been fine ever since.

flamingo thanks! That sticker thing you linked looked awesome for both kids! S will be happy to just have his ipad so I'm really only concerned with keeping B busy. All he does at home is wander around the house picking up toys for 2 seconds then wandering around again. I just can't picture him sitting for an extended period of time, but we shall see!! @ tgrimes, IME you want to go the specialist and not bother with the bloodwork from the pedi. They may not order everything you need, and then you'll have to take him back for more which is not super fun for him (or you). The first time I took B for massive bloodwork he was around 14 months and he didn't even flinch. I took him back for more like 2 months later and it took 2 of us to hold him down to get the 6 vials of blood they needed. Not fun for anyone.

Do you think blood work the pedi could order would tell me anything or should i just make an appt with an immunologist? Should I try the allergist first and see what they say? Tell me what to do. Lol. I don't think an Allergist can hurt. I would probably start there. Dude was sick constantly, and the Allergist found nothing, but of course that doesn't mean it would be the same for H. Both boys are on Singulair and that has been helpful with controlling their cough and leaky noses. We have Symbicort which is very effective. I'd ask if you could try one or both. These are for asthma and allergies, and although supposedly the kids have no allergies somehow the drugs work well... So as far as the Immunologist, you definitely want one who is just an Immunologist. Sounds kind of obvious but most Allergists are called Allergist/Immunologist but they do almost nothing with immunology. This is according to my Immunologist and Allergist. My Immunologist did say that most people with an immunodeficiency or autoimmune problem do develop allergies. His TL;DR was that the body overcompensated by attacking in response to things that it shouldn't perceive as a threat. In the universe of things that could be going on, I don't think your chances of the pedi knowing what to look for are very good, really. An Immunologist is going to take a very detailed history, including family, and will be better equipped to know where to start.

Thanks dapostrophe! I'm sure you'll have your hands full! The wedding is August 19 at Promontory Point. Not sure if you know where that is? There are 2 different hotels so I'm not sure yet where we'll be staying but I'll let you know when I book. Looks like we might be free Saturday during the day if you're around for a possible meetup? I was going to ask you what would be fun for the boys while in town for such a short trip - most likely flying in Friday mid day, flying out Monday - hoping to do something fun for the kids (zoo, kids museum etc) Saturday day as we don't have to be anywhere till dinner time. Are you in Chicago proper or are you in the burbs?

Morning! nam2013 Happy Birthday! jewels I was going to say the same as flamingo. Bring them to the restroom right before you board so hopefully you can avoid going while on the plane. I usually use that rule when we are going anywhere to try to avoid public restrooms with the kids. Maybe let him be on his feet while the plane is boarding. Sit in the aisle seat and let him play inside the row before the plane leaves the gate. Yes to many snacks and busy toys. flamingo I'll be ordering that book too for M to use on our way back this weekend. Looks like something he would like.

Sitting at the car wash. They said it would take about 90 minutes to clean my car. I know it's not a necessity but I want it clean for when we put E's car seat in it tonight.

I'm not sure but it definitely hit quickly. dapostrophe, yeah, that was not appropriate. mamabear, would food poising hit you almost 2 days later? Either way, I hope whatever it is passes quickly and you are feeling better! Depending on hat bacteria caused the food poisoning would dictate how long it takes. It can hit has little as a couple hours or as long as 72 if I remember my food safety class right.
