I woke up S to feed at 2 since he is still trying to get to birth weight and then he was grunting and crying until 5 trying to push out gas. Today is going to be long.

Joining in. Larzmini and I are still in the hospital. Latching isn't going great and I sent h home to sleep so my mom is here with me. Earlier I was so looking forward to going home and bring in my own space but I'm dreading being able to get her to latch correctly on our own at home. She is currently sleeping on me and I'm wide awake afraid to fall asleep with her on me.
Add in sudden onset pre eclampsia which led to my induction and placenta accreta post partum and it's been a rough go.

I will say, I remember being nervous about going home, but a lot of things were easier there than in the hospital. Take advantage of the lactation consultants at your hospital and with your ped if latch issues continue. I wish I had done more of that the first time around.

I will say please see a lactation consultant after you go home if you’re still having issues. I’m going on Friday after weeks of off and on bad latching. I should’ve gone sooner but i was naive thinking she was getting better since some days were fine. Also, use a nipple shield if you need to, no harm done. And finally, if it doesn’t work out in the end try not to feel guilty about it, you have to do what’s best for your health and sanity and baby’s health too. Hang in there mama!

Hopefully you can get in to see a lactation consultant but it can help in the meanwhile.

Another night of nursing and then listening to grunting for an hour. Then changing a poop diaper and doing paci pops for another hour. I’m nursing again and hoping that we can go back to sleep after this.

Just woke up for our first wake up (we’ll sort of). Technically she did a longer stretch but she kept waking herself up in a pile of spitup every time I laid her down the first basically 2 hours. I even held her for 40 minutes after he last feeding but she was extra spitty for some reason. So she went almost 7 hours from feed to feed but only about 4.5 hour sleeping stretch. She just ate so I’m holding her upright again for a while before I lay her back down.

I attempt, but this baby won’t ever burp when I try 😕 I haven't been successful yet M is finally burping after a week of trying for 10+ min at every feed. My DD1 was a master burper, so it took me by surprise that this one seemed to not want to burp, ever, lol.

L is not a burper either which is leading to serious gassy screaming fits. I've been leaving her propped up on my chest for at least 15 minutes after every feed and she'll eventually burp. It make the process much longer but might be helping.

My husband is the baby burp whisperer. Same! I can pat her for hours (or you know, 10 minutes) and zilch. He does 2-3 pats, and she burps the biggest man burp. I think It's because his hand/palm is bigger and he can get more... solid? pats.

::Waving hello::
The lack of sleep struggle is real. DS followed DDs footsteps and got himself a Bili Blanket today. Jaundice can kiss my ass. Trying to keep him awake for feeds is the worst on top of being religious to every 2 hours. Luckily, BFing is going much better this time and I’m really happy about that. My nipples are sore AF but it’s working! He gained an ounce at his first well visit today and I was thrilled. I was completely expecting another big drop to go along with the jaundice. Have to get a bili lab draw tomorrow morning and hoping we are on our way down!!

L’s vomiting just kills me. He woke at 2:45, fed for about 10 minutes. I was picking him up to burp him and he puked EVERYWHERE. I’ve gotten better at laying out blankets/cloths in advance for this purpose, so damage was fairly minimal, but I had to change him and then re-feed him. He’s still eating now.

I’m going to join you here. It’s our last night in the hospital. J’s been cluster feeding every night. My nipples feel so raw.

Now he’ll have one or two extra feeds in there but it isn’t all night generally speaking. Do you use nipple cream of some type? I have found that to be somewhat helpful this time. I’ve been using the motherlove nipple cream the LC recommended. Hang in there!

So W and I have fallen into a nice little routine where she wakes around 11pm and won’t go back to sleep til 3am then cat naps until 5am, usually on me because she wakes up as soon as she’s back in her bed and won’t self-settle in bed at that time of day.
Awesome. I am the baby sleep master.

Sleep for DS is looking an awful lot like it did for DD, which is to say, not good.

I realized yesterday that L was sleeping most of the day. Sure enough we saw each other all night. So I guess I need to help her switch her days and nights? So. Tired.
