I have a Lillebaby and I really like it, but I find myself looking at Tulas. I didn't front outward carry DS as much as I thought I would, which was the reason I went for a Lillebaby in the first place. Tulas look a bit more comfortable and less bulky so I'm debating getting one. I'm also debating a ring sling. I'm currently picturing myself trying to drop-off/pick-up DS from my MIL's or daycare while also having DS2 with me. Seems like it would be a pain to carry DS's stuff and DS2's carseat so now I'm wondering if a ring sling would be good for quick ups and downs during drop-off/pick-up. I love ring slings, especially for tiny babies. They tend to be easier for getting in and out of quick. They have a little more of a learning curve, but I don't find them too difficult and they fold up small to stuff in your bag, which is nice. Sleeping Baby Productions makes really nice custom ones in the $50-60 dollar range. If you get a Tula, get a free-to-grow, infant inserts are a pain and you'll need one till baby is at least 3 months/15 lbs. Or you can get a standard Tula and use it when baby is bigger and just use the lillebaby for the small baby stage since it adjusts to newborn size. Buckles aren't my favorite in general, I prefer ring slings, meh dai carriers and wraps, so I don't really have an opinion on one over the other.

I also have an Infantino Mei Tai sash that I used when DS was really little before breaking out the Lillebaby around 4 months so I always have that to fall back on early on. I really don't think I want to deal with an insert so that's definitely something I'll have to keep in mind. The Mei Tei was easy but I was thinking a ring sling would be a bit quicker once I get the hang of it so I'm glad to hear you like them.

Just had our midwife visit and first group centering. Baby was so stubborn hiding all the way in the back. Had me nervous because she couldn't get the heart beat until very last minute. The group centering was ok. Luckily I ended up only having my child with me but still had to keep her calm and behaved. They just really focused on nutrition, which I think is important but did seem a bit overboard. I guess that's to be expected with a birthing center that really wants you to be all "natural" and organic. Now I have to fill out a food diary 🙄.

NymeriaRing sling all the way! It saved my life and I used it for so long with DD. It definitely takes practice and some people like it while others don't. I too have the same infantino meh dai and loved it for back carries! These two are definitely the best for the price! I never used the lilibaby but I tried out the Tula and thought it was nice. My suggestion is to maybe see if you have a *lending library like Babywearing International and try out a new one each month to see what you like. It's $30 for the year. Plus I met some forever friends there and DD loved playing during the meetings.

DramaphileThat is so cool!!! They had the BWI conference here like two years ago! I'm excited to wear from birth with this baby. I started with DD at 3 months and she was huge. I also get to wear my bonus kid so I'm getting practice 😉

Maybe if it was my first baby, but I'm going to eat what I eat now. They really pushed for having no high fructose corn syrup or refined sugars in the house, and to take probiotics daily. 🤷♀️ Obviously it did make me feel some kind of way because I ran to Spouts after.... 🙈

Nymeria I have a ring sling and I liked it a lot. For me it was more comfortable when DD was still tiny, like 0-3 months. I’m petite so using a large carrier was not easy. Like Previous posters said there is a learning curve. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos for ways to wear it.

I was interested in trying a ring sling for easy-ups with DS, but I never did. I'm planning to get a Boba SSC this time for easy, comfortable wearing around the house and what not. I borrowed one from a friend last time and really liked it. The infant "booster" snaps in and was so easy to use.

I got my level 2 ultrasound scheduled, but it's not until June 1st. I'm going on a week long vacation next week and the MFM location waited a week to look at and process my referral so I'm kinda bummed I have to wait another few weeks. I guess it's a good thing though that it's not urgent we get in right away...

brenna - That's annoying they waited so long to process the referral but hopefully the next couple weeks go by quickly for you. Since you're gone for one of them I would think it would!

I'm getting really nervous about taking DD through the airport next week. We will be traveling with my mom so that will be helpful. We will have her carseat as well as carry on bags and she's a runner so I don't know how we're going to have enough hands for everything. Any tips for traveling with a 19 month old through the airport?

I have a Mei tei that we haven't used in a long time. I tried to get her in it yesterday but she wasn't having it but maybe if Grandma carried her she'd like it more? We also have a hiking backpack that she loves but it's big so I don't know if we want to add another thing to carry on the plane...

Any tips for traveling with a 19 month old through the airport? When I have flown with my toddler, being able to wear her in a carrier through security and to the gate was really helpful, then we could pile all the carry-on stuff on the stroller and push it to the gate and then gate-check the stroller. Once we got to the gate, I let her loose to run around and then put her back in the carrier to board. if you don't have a carrier, I'd assign one person toddler duty whoever isn't watching the child will deal with the carry-ons. Are you carrying on the carseat to use on the plane? If not, you can check it with your bags when you check in so you won't have to lug it through security to gate check. We have a Cosco Scenera we use as a travel carseat that is lighter and I'm not as worried about damaging since it cost like $40.

Dramaphile I'm not sure if we are taking the carseat on the plane or not yet. My dad was supposed to be traveling with us, but took an earlier flight (we are going to my parent's place in Phoenix) and to change his ticket was more expensive than to just book a new one so we still have his ticket and I'm not sure if he changed it to dd's name or not. I'm not sure if it's worth lugging her carseat through security or if we just have the extra seat in the middle that she can crawl around in.

brennaWhat airports? Some if you wear them and don't have a stroller, they won't let you in the family line. I learned that the hard way when I almost miss my flight waiting for security for an hour. Also, anyway you can borrow or buy one of those car seat carts? We borrowed one off a local mom site for our britax. It doubles as a stroller and can let them nap while pushing and can bring all the way to the gate. It just folds down and they let you check it. Also, research the airports. See if they have fun areas to explore. We were stuck at ours for 10 hours once and I'm so glad I knew about the amazing interactive art they have in the lower level train area. It kept my (at the time) 1.5 year old happy and busy and wore her out for nap! Lastly, bring lots of snacks, and anything to distract your child. Cling on stickers, tape, those water wonder pads, whatever you can! Oh and extra pair of clothes cuz you never know!

brenna we traveled by air when my DS was 15 months. We also got the Cosco Scenera Next seat and checked that with our main baggage. We bought a lightweight travel stroller and kept him seated in the stroller through the airport. Once we were to the gate we let him play and walk around. They actually had a little kids area which was nice. Then we gate checked the stroller when we boarded the plane. If you have an extra seat on the plane and it's easy to switch the name on the ticket, it might be worth using that seat and just installing the car seat. The manual will tell you how to install it on an aircraft. The Cosco Scenera is super lightweight. You could grab one of those luggage trolleys to pile your carry on bags and the car seat on! If you're lucky, all the hubbub of the airport will wear your DD out and she'll just pass out on the plane! We brought a iPad mini with a few Disney movies on it, but DS slept most of the flight anyways. I think he passed out even before takeoff! I was super nervous about the whole airport/flying thing with a LO in tow, but it all turned out perfectly fine and was NBD!

Today is my baby boy's 2nd birthday!! We greeted him in his crib this morning singing happy birthday with a bunch of balloons, then went out for a yummy breakfast, and then we went to the park and took some pictures and he got to play for a while. Good day so far 😊

Thanks pixiepink24 and tbirdlove. Our airport is tiny so there isn't much to do and hopefully the security lines won't be bad. DD never sleeps anywhere but her crib so we planned the flight to be before nap time so no sleeping on the plane for her. It's a direct flight so we have that going for us, I just get anxious anytime we travel so I like to be as planned out as possible to make things go more smooth.

brenna it will be fine, you’ll all do great DH and I have flown a lot with DD, including a trip to Greece when she was 15 months. I find we do best when we have both our umbrella stroller (it’s a MacLaren and has extra features like a storage basket and it reclines, but is super light) and a carrier (we use an ergobaby). Sometimes she rides in the stroller, sometimes I’ll wear her and we’ll pile our stuff in the stroller. Next week we’re doing a short flight just from Toronto to Boston, we’ll bring the car seat and gate check both that and the stroller. I hope to amuse DD on the plane by slowly feeding her goldfish and Cheerios one at a time. We’ll also come armed with Peppa pig episodes on our phones. She’s 23 months so it’ll be our last lap child flight, I’m sad!

I’ve flown with M for the past two summers so 1 and 2 years old. We travel again next week and she will be almost 3. I’ve always checked her car seat with my luggage and gate checked the stroller when we were boarding. We have a car seat bag that fits her convertible seat. So once I’m checked in I’m left with my backpack a stroller and her. I always have her ride because we need to get where we are going and I can’t deal alone with a stroller and her walking in crowds.
And we NEVER get on at early traveling with child boarding. I wait. The least amount of time on the plane is best.
