I've only used it for a few days now, but I like it well enough! It's not proven itself to be a holy grail product yet, but I'm not giving up on it. Are you using it in conjunction with a moisturizer, or in place of? I'm not getting enough hydration so I'm trying to figure out if another product will do it (like the birch sap) or if I need to add in another step (like a serum or essence or whatever, I don't really know what these words mean lol). I've just inserted into my routine, so I do still use a moisturizer + SPF.

@icedtea I also have super dry skin I’ve been doing: Klairs hydrating toner (more than one layer on very dry days) Klairs freshly juiced Vit c Snail 96 neutrogena hydro boost Water gel
I tried the mizon black snail as a moisturizer but it just wasn’t enough. My hydro boost is the only thing that’s worked for me.

@icedtea mh was complaining about how dry his face has been this winter because he’s been using bar soap to wash it. He asked me what I do to moisturize me face. My response: So now he’s switching over to my Cosrx cleanser. It’s a start 😂

My current routine is: Cosrx cleanser Toner (currently Pyung Yul but will be going back to Klairs) Cosrx Snail 96 Mizon Black Snail Sunscreen The Mizon Black Snail is fine but not a holy grail for me. I like it during the summer but agree with ArielMermaid and during the winter it’s not quite hydrating enough for me. So I’ll add on my Jeju:en Propolis cream which I usually save for nighttime. The Pyung Yul toner is perfectly fine but I love Klairs more. I miss the smell of the scented. I also think I need a little bit more of the Pyung Yul to get the same coverage as the Klairs. My absolute favorites that I’ve noticed the biggest differences with are the Cosrx Snail 96 and Jeju:en Propolis cream. But they were also the first things I added to my non-existent routine the other year so maybe that’s why I saw the biggest improvement with them versus the Mizon Black Snail which was added later.

Or he just wanted me to be quiet lol I love that Lakes 😂. I’ve had a similar moment with my H. He will not double cleanse, but I got him at least to use a low ph cleanser in the morning and evening. He sometimes will use a moisturizer. So it’s better than nothing!

@icedtea if you're looking to vitamin C for brightening/fading dark spots, azaleic acid actually worked better for me and is way less irritating. i have the one from the ordinary- it's a cream consistency and you apply it after your moisturizer.
i just got a bottle of the cosrx birch sap lotion to use as a day moisturizer and i had to return it. the consistency was absolutely perfect for use as a day cream- a light gel that absorbed quickly... but the smell was SO strong and unpleasant, like lemon pledge or something. it has both tea tree oil and lemon peel oil in it and i felt like it was irritating my skin.
PSA tj maxx/marshall's have been getting in a good amount of dr. jart lately if you're looking to try their products as they can be quite pricey. they also have essential oils in their products so be aware if you're sensitive. i've been good with the mild scent in the cicapair line but i tried the water drop moisturizer and it was overwhelmingly strong with lots of citrus oils.
yes, the ordinary's HA is similar to the hada labo lotion. the thing with hyaluronic acid is that it attracts moisture, so you want to apply it to a damp face or mist yourself afterwards or it can actually dry your skin out by pulling water out of it.
RE things that help with dry skin-- i just tried the mediheal DNA hydrating protein mask and it was the most hydrating sheet mask i've ever used. the serum it's soaked in is very thick and lotiony. it has a light scent but it's not overwhelming.

@icedtea I looooooove the snail 96. I use it morning and night. I also use the snail 92 as my last step before bed. I can take or leave the 92 (I like it very much), but 96 is holy grail for me. I must not be without it. Like what ArielMermaid and Lakes said, I notice a difference when I travel and don’t use it. If you are looking for other products - I’d also recommend seeking out a first treatment essence. Some are really pricey (like the Sulwhasoo one I am sadly addicted to), but a good option (if you want to try it out) is the Secret Key FTE. It preps the skin and acts like a booster to help your other products sink in better. They often have ferments/enzymes in them, which is what does the work. You can get the Secret Key on Amazon for around $22, and it would probably last 6 mos - 1 year, depending on how much you use. www.amazon.com/Secretkey-Starting-Treatment-Essence-155ml/dp/B073P7CC78This product goes on after cleansing/actives/prescription medication, and before your hydrating toner.

I think part of it is that I'm still thinking very traditionally about needing a "moisturizer" and then wondering what I need outside of that. But it sounds like it's more of a step than just one product, which makes sense. I'll look this up, thanks! I should probably know this, but Google is failing me--what are "actives"? I've seen them referred to a few times as I've searched the thread. Oops - sorry for getting technical on you. Actives are like treatment products. They are typically acids or retinoids that you put on your face after you cleanse, in order to achieve specific treatment goals (reduce fine lines, reduce hyperpigmentation, promote collagen growth, etc.). The most common active ingredients are Vitamin C, BHA, AHA, and retinol/Tretinoin. Actives can be tricky - if you use too many, you will dry out your skin and strip the moisture barrier (layer of natural oils on the top), which can lead to flakiness, redness, and break outs. Soooooo....if you dip your toe into actives, start slowly!

Soooooo....if you dip your toe into actives, start slowly! No worries, I had been wondering anyway lol. Ooooh. I think I've been avoiding all that because of my sensitive skin. The Klairs vit c I have coming should be the first one. Thanks again to you and everyone else in this thread! If nothing else, having solid morning and evening routines has been excellent "me" time and a nice mental health boost. The Klairs Vit C should be nice and gentle, so you shouldn’t have to worry about drying out your skin with that one. My sister uses it and loves it. The retinoids/Tretinoin/AHA/BHA is really where the moisture barrier stripping can happen. If you get interested in those, might be a good idea to research more or check in here before you start using them. Also - I totally agree about the positive self-care aspect of skincare! The AB routines in particular have really helped me consistently carve out “me” time - which I enjoy - each day. 👍😊

I ran out of my Klairs Vit C and have been debating getting something with a higher % of vitamin C. But my budget is $20 or less. Anyone have any suggestions? This is out of my wheelhouse. I don’t super understand the percentages and stuff.

I don’t super understand the percentages and stuff. I like the T’iam C Source 20% L-AA. It’s about $14-$15, and you can order it from Jolse. The one thing you should know - L-AA is the most potent, but also the most volatile, form of Vit C. This stuff works really well. But, it oxidizes quickly if you don’t store it properly. I keep mine in the fridge, wrapped in tin foil. Mine never has oxidized before I’ve used it up (takes 3-4 months for me to get through one bottle, I use it every night). You also might find that you need more hydrating layers after you use that - a good hydrating toner should do the trick to prevent over-exfoliation. m.jolse.com/product/tiam-my-signature-c-source-30ml/11254/Skin full of Seoul has a good review which explains the product: www.skinfullofseoul.com/review-tiam-my-signature-c-source-vitamin-c-serum-formerly-o-s-t-c20/

I just realized that I had a new bottle of Cosrx AHA power liquid (7% Glycolic acid). I decided to give it a whirl and add it to my routine. I don’t want to over-exfoliate, so I’m going to start by doing AHA 2 times and week, and my usual Paula’s Choice BHA 5 times a week, building up to where I am alternating them every other day.
I feel like using both each day would be too much for my skin.
I’m hoping I can get some new grits out with this AHA! 🤞🤞

Our schools are closed and we’re doing even more social distancing than we were before, so I’ve been digging through my skin care reserves to see if I have anything new/fun to try.
I just ran out of my beloved Sulwhasoo First Care activating serum, so I am now using Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence. It’s cheaper than my Sulwhasoo stuff, and so far, I like it. I need a week or two to compare and get a good idea what the difference (if any) will be. Will report back!

beesquared Are you the one who recommended Tosowoong enzyme powder wash to me? My massive bottle of CeraVe finally ran out, so I broke open the Tosowoong as my low ph, water soluble second cleanser tonight. I like it! The little beads kind of provide some interesting texture/exfoliation, and it foamed you pretty well. I didn’t need much either, so I like that. Update on the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence. It’s okay. It’s nothing like my beloved Sulwhasoo first care activating serum. I don’t think I can go without the Sulwhasoo, but I also don’t want to waste the Missha, because it’s a perfectly fine product. Just no wow factor for me. I think what I’m going to do is use the Sulwhasoo in the morning and the Missha at night. That way, I can at least get the Sulwhasoo benefit at the start of the day, and I can eventually use up the Missha.

I ran out of my snail 92 so I've been using the Lano as my day moisturizer too, mixed with the Klairs vit c. Overall my skin seems very happy. I need to use all this time to use the endless sheet makes H got me for Christmas 😂 I've been using the HA at night too. I know they say to put it on a damp face, but I'm not sure how to square that with toner needing to go on first. Am I too much of a rule follower? When do you use your HA? My face is normally a bit damp or has product on it throughout my routine (except for the very beginning, when I oil cleanse), so I think you should be okay with what you are doing. Just make sure your skin isn’t totally bone dry before putting on the HA.

Hahaha - I have no $200 creams in my rotation - I did have a nice History of Whoo one gifted to me, but that sadly is now gone😭
The Sulwhasoo stuff I have, I get at 50% off at duty free, so it’s actually not horrifically bad, cost wise. But I still wish I didn’t love it so much.
Also - I think the hydration from the snail 92 should be fine for your HA 👍. I normally use HA earlier in my routine though, have you considered putting it on before your snail 92 and seeing if that makes a difference for your skin?

Haha I'll have to start traveling more internationally. I put it on after the 96 but before the 92. So at night it goes: Cleanser 1&2 3-4 layers of toner Cosrx snail 96 essence HA Ordinary caffeine eye solution Cosrx snail 92 Lano Except now I'm out of the 92 so it's just the Lano at night, but at some point I'll be able to restock. And sometimes I do the etude house cica calm in there before the 92. That order you have looks good 👍 What’s the consistency of your HA? Is it like a serum, or more like a liquid? Maybe you said this already, and I missed it. If the HA has a thinner consistency than the snail 96, I would actually put it on after your toner layers - before the snail 96. If it’s thicker, like a serum, then keeping your routine as is works. When in doubt, follow the thinnest to thickest rule.

Taitai, totally random but I remember that you got some Klairs toner from the US and you couldn’t get it in BKK right? Well my mom in Singapore found it at Guardian pharmacy so if you have Guardian in BKK or if you happen to go to Singapore, check to see if Guardian has it. Of course after all the current madness and travel restrictions die down.

I always stalk Watson’s to see if they will start carrying Klairs, but no luck so far. I do get lucky with Naruko sometimes though! People have really been liking iherb for online cosmetics stuff here, and I think I can get Klairs on that one. I might give it a whirl - if it works out, that’s even better to have an online source, given the times....

Quick update on my addition of AHA use to my routine. I really love the Cosrx AHA, and I’ve found that my skin is smoother and I’m prone to less clogs. I’ve gotten a bunch of grits out since adding it to my routine too 👍
I found that I can only use it 2 times per week max though, otherwise I will over exfoliate. So I do BHA 2-3 days, then switch to AHA for 1 day, then BHA for 2-3, and so on. I definitely don’t think I can get up to every other day use, and absolutely no using both AHA and BHA on the same day.
But it’s a nice little addition to spice up my routine during these boring times...lol.

My sister and I decided to go in together on a Jolse order, since we’re both running low on skincare stuff. I found some pretty good deals by using the mobile site and ordering from my phone. Now I just have to figure out when I can get to the USA to pick it all up from her place.....
Missha all-around safe sunblock (gel) - $7.88 for 50ml
Cosrx good morning low ph cleanser - $9 for 150ml
Beauty of Joseon dynasty cream - $15 for 60ml
T’iam Signature C Source - $11 for 30ml
Cosrx Snail 96 - $13 for 100ml
Cosrx Snail 92 - $15.43 for 100ml
Banila clear it zero - purity - $17 for 100ml
All in all - not bad! I hope they send some good freebies with our order too 🤞🤞
