king26, She only takes a maximum of 2 naps, sometimes only 1, ugh. It can vary anywhere from 1-2.5 hours for the first and the 2nd is always 30-45 mins mostly. addymac, that is adorable about your nanny. I'm so glad you found someone so amazing because I know it was such a difficult process for you to find a good fit! What about a pretty scarf. A gift cert to a restaurant? Spa? Local nice bakery? Does she have a bread machine?

I found out it was my nanny’s birthday last week (she told me the day of). I made her a card with N’s footprints in the shape of a heart and printed a few pics of the two of them and put it in the card. What else should I do? She’s 60ish, like a grandma to N, she’s amazing and cuts my fruit up for me so I can take it to work (like grapefruit, mango, etc), and deals with our wacky hospital life schedules. She loves bread (we’ve made her an extra loaf before when we made bread a few times). She’s married, no kids but I think has dogs bc I hear them whenever we talk on the phone, and I honestly feel like I hired my mother sometimes 🤣 but I adore her and feel very lucky we found her. What else should I get her? Money- how much? A sweater/cardigan? (My moms suggestion). Bread? How about bread and a gift card to a restaurant she likes?

Thanks ladies! A gift card didn’t even occur to me so I think I’ll go that route. DH doesn’t think it’s necessary

king26 L only takes 2 30-40 minute naps (sometimes 3 if she gets woken up early). addymac It’s super nice of you to get a birthday gift for your Nanny. I think a gift card sounds good.

R is still doing 3 naps. The second or third is usually 2+ hours. The other two are usually 40 minutes to 1.5 hours.
I finally updated the baby books last night for both girls. I still have a box of photos from Shutterfly I need to sort. I also have a pile of things since R’s birth on my desk that I need to put in a box to save for her.

Hey ladies! It was MHs bday yesterday and we went to a baseball game. It was great. A had a couple meltdowns, but over all was in good spirits. The noise of the crowd didn’t seem to bother him much. Trying to nurse him while sitting in the stands was a little awkward. But necessary if the other fans wanted him to stop screaming. Lol
A has such a weird nap schedule. He seems to want to sleep about 2 hours after he wakes up. It’s 30-45 mins tops. Then around 12, he’ll sleep for 1 hour, sometimes 90 mins. Then around 3 or 4 he’ll sleep another 30-45 mins. I need to nap train him though, he refuses to sleep in his crib!

happyfeet9, we’ve got the basics down for the party. Where, who to invite, and the food we will serve. It’ll be low key for the most part. Close family and a couple of our friends and my FILs house in the mountains. I want a cute theme for decorations and I need some games to keep the kids busy. But there will likely only be 3 toddler boys. Not sure what to do for them. Should I still do a goody bag for them? Any ideas on what to put in it?

I don’t think we’re going to throw a party. We don’t have any family around. Maybe on his birthday I’ll bake or make a cake and invite his nanny and her husband over and we can have a little party just us and them. We’re plannjng on going to NY to visit my parents the following weekend so I’m sure my mom will do something for him. 🤷🏻♀️

Thank you! I'll check this out. I asked our pedi about allergies and he said not to worry this young but j eczema sucks and we are in the biggest size sleepers you can get with mittens. Not sure what we will do when he outgrow them.

Not sure what we will do when he outgrow them. You took him to a dermatologist, right? If it hasn’t drastically improved then I think the next step would be an allergist to rule out an allergy. Unless, they’ve diagnosed him with a condition that is not related to environmental factors.

Not sure what we will do when he outgrow them. That’s so interesting bc I’ve heard of a lot of kids that went through allergy testing when they were 6mo - 1yo. I might get a referrral for an allergist anyway if t could help his eczema! Then you won’t have to worry about mittens!

He has steroid cream and it helps but he still gets flare ups through the cream and on his off week from the cream it gets so bad. I think we do need to see an allergist.

RE goodie bags
For T’s first birthday, I ordered M&Ms with her picture on them and put them in little containers. Then I did nothing for her 2nd and 3rd birthday. For her 4th birthday, we bought bath stuff for her cousins: bath bomb, Mr Bubble crackles, color drops and a character wash cloth that unfolds in the water.
Kids love goodie bags, but they’re often a bunch of crap that parents just want to throw out.

I thought I was mean mommy but I loathe goody bags and never did them with my first. I just have so much crap already and don’t want more dollar store junk.

Since we’ll be in the mountains, I was thinking Wild One (omit the red plaid I see every where), or Woodland One-derland looks cute too. Still trying to find something I like the most. And those gift bag ideas are good, thanks!

Ehh - I'm team do what you like.
I love doing goody bags, but I also just tend to go overboard with parties and events in general. I will try to put things in good bags that can keep older or younger kids entertained when there's an age difference at a party. But I also don't get offended if people throw them out when they leave or don't take one. I will pass on candy bc I'd rather not have that fight with my toddler trying to eat it all and I don't really eat it myself.

I took off work today thinking we were going to Washington DC. We ended up not going but I still took the day off. I spent all morning with J and during his first nap I stripped the bed, did 2 loads of laundry, and worked on my blog for 30 minutes.
Dh is home so I left about 30 minutes ago and am getting a much needed pedicure and then running errands. I never run errands by myself and getting a pedicure in a workday is the icing on the cake!

What diaper bags do you guys have? We have the skip hop duo bag but it’s not big enough and it drives me crazy. I can barely squeeze in the medals milk container thing, it’s such a narrow bag. as he is getting bigger and I want to go out for the day I need to add in enough milk plus lunch food and snacks and toys and the bag doesn’t hold it all well. We’re looking for bigger bags. I was hoping for a backpack but dh was thinking of a tote like bag as long as it has a shoulder strap. Any suggestions? Not looking to spend more than $200, ideally under $100 but would be ok with $150ish if it was just perfect.

I have the skip hop Forma travel backpack and it's big enough for 2 kids clothes, diapers, snacks, etc. for a day trip. I think the medela cooler would fit in the bottom with the other stuff on top. One of the straps that connects it to the stroller broke off of mine, which was odd since I used it maybe twice. But it doesn't affect the functionality at all. It's like an extra little strap on the shoulder straps. I found it kind of awkward to have it hanging off the handlebar anyway. I love that bag with a passion. And I love being able to have it as a backpack and not worry about it sliding off my shoulder like a tote bag tends too. Especially while lugging the beast of an infant carrier. ETA: addymac

We have an Eddie Bauer duffle diaper bag. I have no special attachment to it. We’ve had it for four year. R sat up on her own for the first time. She was laying in her toys, then I looked and she was sitting up! She’s just shy of 8.5 months.

bsouls, M has been doing the same the last couple days. She crawls around the room and gets one arm to the side like leaning then just sits herself up. It’s cute! Funny they share a birthday and just mastered the same skill at the same time 😊
