This is question is brought to you by a FB rant I saw this morning.
And the fact that I need to potty train my almost 3 year old at some point.
Do you teach your boys to wipe after peeing? I apologize if this has been discussed, it hasn’t been on my radar until now.

Wipe the toilet or himself? Himself, I am also just realizing I have no idea what my SS has been taught. I came into his life after potty training.

It never really occurred to me to teach him to wipe.

Sometimes they need a little to get the last drop. My bathroom on the other hand needs a daily wipe down.

Uhhh...I think MH may sometimes dab the end with a piece of tp, but not always.
I'm not looking forward to PTing this fetus in 4ish years 😬 when he's ready.

I don't know any adult men who wipe themselves after peeing so I didn't think to. I would like to teach him how to wipe down the toilet soon, but I'm holding off because he would probably use a whole roll of TP or 5 wipes and clog the toilet. After he masters butt wiping, we'll work on wiping the toilet because oh my god the pee splatter drives me bonkers.

I did...just to dab the dribble at the end (sorry if tmi, lol). And I don't know why I did, maybe bc I figured girls do it? My husband wondered about that but didn't object as it keeps our toilets a little bit cleaner.

We have had more than one roll of TP end up in the toilet at a time- don’t trust a five year old.

No wiping for pee, toilet or themselves.
All that can come later, the goal now is pee in the potty and that’s enough for me.

I feel better, the post I saw this morning had a very strong opinion about making sure boys always wipe after peeing and how even her three old knows to do it.

My bathroom on the other hand needs a daily wipe down. This. I always hated Clorox wipes and thought they were wasteful. Then after my DD I had two boys. Now we keep a container of those wipes in their bathroom and in the 1/2 bath downstairs. We also have two little stacks of TP on the back of the tank for the boys, this helps them from using too many squares 🤣

He also knows to wipe the toilet if he missed. He doesn’t always do that, though.

DH taught him to give a little shake. I have told him he can use a piece of toilet paper to dab any remaining pee off.

I've read some about teaching boys to pee in the potty sitting down. Maybe you'd need to wipe then? I'm not sure.

Urinals will be a fun discovery for him then. This is what came to my mind. There is no toilet paper at urinals, nor you could flush toilet paper down one.

Eh. I'm hit or miss. In the morning after his first pee I usually wipe him with a wipe. After that, I don't worry about it as much. He sometimes does it himself.
I'm waiting for the day he wipes his own poop. God. How I will love that.

No wiping. MH told him to give it a little shake This, and I am also a big proponent of sitting to pee. My little one is not really tall enough to successfully stand to pee anyway, but even my older one sits to pee at home, and so does MH.

Related: DD thinks the difference between boys and girls is that girls wipe when they pee and boys don't.

DS sits and stands interchangeably. When they sit you teach them to point it down. But there's no wiping involved at all. A little shake, and he's done.
