Has anyone else had pain in their upper back/chest? All day today when I sat, I would have pain radiating up my spine. This evening, I've had a lot of discomfort in my right shoulder, rib cage, and chest, and my arm is tingly too. It's probably just related to where the baby is pressing inside my body, but it feels really uncomfortable and is making me a little anxious.

It’s hard for me to breathe. It’s been off and on for the past week or so. I’m going to bring it up tomorrow at my appointment.

If it's what I'm feeling, it always feels better after the chiropractor.

budders and apk4 I have had pain along my shoulder blades and spent some time googling the other night. I can't remember the exact websites, but there were some good stretch ideas when I searched for "upper back pain" and "third trimester" or "pregnancy". I think some of it is just being so far along and our bodies being pushed to their full capacities.

getzystark oh wow!!!!! Congratulations!!! I can’t believe you had such a quick labour in the end, lucky he’s petite. Hope you’re feeling better given you’ve been battling pre-eclampsia and I hope Ian is out of nicu ASAP. Well done!

Thanks guys! He’s tiny but strong! They think a couple weeks in NICU just to learn to breath, suck and swallow. I’m pumping and he’s getting colostrum down his OG tube so that makes me happy. DD couldn’t really eat super well at 37 weeks and I didn’t know what I was doing as far as pumping went so she never really got much colostrum. So this is a step up! I’ve never seen such a tiny baby in my life but he’s doing great!

It's the main reason I want to get this baby out right now. My OB said, among other things, it's caused by boobs growing bigger. Nothing really makes it go away for long, but using a heating pad, wearing a really tight too small sports bra, some yoga positions, and wearing a brace help.

I had this terribly with my DS and it’s happening a little now. It’s mainly behind my right shoulder blade for me. Chiropractor helps the most. If you have one i would go and see if they can help. I’ve had multiple times this pregnancy where one of my ribs have been out of place and that can cause the pain as well. So much relaxin hormone especially in 3rd tri it just makes us super loosened up and things are moving around.

budders I've definitely been having pain in my left ribs/shoulder area. There was one move in yoga last night where I completely had to bail out of it because of the pain. I'm making an appointment for physio for my hips anyways so I'll likely see what they say about my ribs at the same time

Under non pregnant circumstances these symptoms would make me nervous for you. It’s probably just something to do with a nerve compressed but worth bringing up to your doc! I can’t believe you’re so close already!

budders I’ve had pain in my shoulders (right shoulder blade)for months and when I brought it up with my doc she said it was related to heartburn (which I kinda gave her the side eye for but when I told DH -who gets heartburn all the time, he told me he will sometimes get pain there too when he’s dealing with it). Bodies are weird! I’ve been dealing with a tingling sensation in my upper abdomen and in my ribs for a while but I think it’s where baby is sitting and putting pressure on nerves. I hope your doctor has some insite for you and that you get relief soon.

I am 95% sure the baby has flipped to head down and I'm also 95% less comfortable than yesterday.

I can't believe our first babies are here! Congratulations, getzystark & ajm! I hope everyone is home and healing soon. I'm having a baby in 14 days, tops, and my oldest was diagnosed with strep throat today and my middle's test is being sent for cultures. But I'm fully expecting her to come back positive, too. Her health & attitude have steadily declined since we got home from the doctors and she sounds so horrible.

I asked my doc about my upper back pain and she said it’s likely weight from my belly/boobs pulling down on my center of gravity, with some heartburn. My bp was high, but she didn’t think it was related.
She told me to use a heating pad and have someone give me a massage.

Thanks everyone, sounds like another typical late pregnancy symptom to add to the laundry list at this point.

I'll ask on Thursday when I go. And I know, I can't believe it either. I wish I was closer, though!

Stupid question ahead: I can feel baby’s head really low like where my c/s scar is and that area is pushed out a bit. Does that mean baby’s head is engaged and if so, does that mean anything about labor coming sooner rather than later?
I never went into labor with DS and had a scheduled c/s at 39weeks because he was breech, so this is all new to me

itsmemeg I think the baby can feel really low and not be engaged but I agree with you wondering. I'm curious because I'm in a similar boat -- this guy is head down and super low. I feel his hiccups low enough that it has made me feel he is almost out. I will be interested to see what my doc says this week now that I start the checks (I'll be 36 weeks).

I feel a sharp shooting pain down there too. I am a little over 3 cm dilated so idk if that’s it or not
