We're in sleep heaven. O slept well again last night, waking up at 230 and 515. I woke up in a puddle of milk. I'm just so happy she's sleeping soundly. And she's generally so much more content. Grocery store today! I can't believe Olivia is 6 weeks old already. She's SO big! I'm excited for our 2mo check up to find out exactly how big she is. Here's my two loves in their dinosaur pj's! Os are 6mo. 😳

Brooklyn slept decently last night and woke at 11:30, 2:30 and 6. I didn’t sleep so well because I can’t stop thinking about childcare. We are going to visit one more daycare today that I hope works out because it’s right down the street from DHs work. And I just noticed that he last pic of the baby I have is from a few weeks ago so I need to start taking more. And here’s DD1 - she’ll be 3 mid July

Morning! Had a good night here. T has her 2 month check up this morning then we are meeting a friend for lunch.
I cleaned out all of our storage space and totes yesterday. Ohmigod we had so much junk. It felt really good to condense, organize and add to our ongoing garage sale pile. Any of else love spring cleaning as much as me ?!

Also I need to vent. My ILs moved to bumblefuck NC last year. They own property on the largest river in the state and built their retirement home there... 9-10 hours from their children & grandchildren.. But only 2 hours from my SMILs sister and kids. They want everyone to travel to see them. They haven't even been home to meet O yet. My H has 4 weeks of paid parental leave. He already took 2 weeks. He's taking the last two in May right before I come back to work so that we can spend time together again as a family before things go crazy again. We had talked to his parents who wanted to come up in early April and told them that it was rather inconvenient with our plans, Dr appts, etc, and maybe it made more sense to come up during his leave at the end of May. Well.. Guess who's coming up next week... With a week's notice. They're inconveniencing an old friend of my SMILs as a "home base" (we have no suitable guest space). My H and I are both pretty annoyed. So is my SIL. At this point my H and SIL are about to tell their dad to F- off. I'm sad because E loves her Poppa and Nan but, they made the decision to move so far away. Hell, they assumed we would want to drive down with an infant this summer. Before she was even born we told them no. It's just so frustrating. I feel so awful for my H and SIL that they are dealing with this with their parents. And I'm frustrated too. I grew up not having grandparents but that wasn't by choice. My mom's dad passed away when she was 10; her mom when she was 21. My dad's dad passed away when I was 3 weeks old. My dad's mom was my only living grandparent, but my parents (mom) didn't have a great relationship with her and so neither did I. I didn't want that for my girls. We have my parents, but. That's just not fair to them either. Sorry. I just needed to vent a little. It doesn't seem fair to vent to my H when he's feeling the sting more than I am. There's a lot more nuance to the story but that's the long & short of it... They feel like their dad who fought for them against their mom (note : SMIL) is now abandoning them.

Here's a comparison shot of DS1 and DS2 in the same outfit with DS1 on top. I think they are related!

We had a good night here too! DH put her in her crib around 10:00 and she slept until 5:00 (she had last eaten around 8:00!!!). She nursed for 10 minutes and then was sound asleep and slept until 8. She was awake in her crib talking when I went in to get her, not even crying!
She is 11 weeks old today and I can't believe it.
After we get a few more nights of "good" sleep in the crib we are going to start working on a bedtime routine and getting her in her crib earlier than midnight. She is now sleeping longer stretches most nights so I don't need her in the living room with us to feed her every two hours. I think she will sleep better (and hopefully longer) in a quiet room. I don't want to throw too much at her at once, so I may wait another week. Plus DH's mom is coming this weekend so it will be hard to start a routine with a visitor in the house.

sunfrogger, that sucks! When the kids are older a summer road trip to visit grandparents will be a lot easier, but they have to realize that moving that far away has consequences and one of those is not seeing kids and grandkids as often as they would like. Heck, DH's parents "only" live 2 hours away and they have only seen Faith twice, when she was born and when she was one month old.

Morning everyone! I have a dentist appointment this morning which I’m super anxious about 😭😭😭 I haven’t been in yeeeaars because of my awful anxiety. So I’m not pleased about this. But my OB has the same irrational anxiety over the dentist and recommended this place to me so I’m hopeful that it won’t be a terrible experience. Plus, I’m excited for the alone time haha.

I go back to work 4 weeks from today, and I'm sooo sad 😭 Here is DS at 8 weeks! The last one was him dressed up for the Masters on Sunday.

That’s really hard sunfrogger. It’s obviously a lot easier for them to come to you. I wouldn’t drive more than 2 hours with an infant if avoidable. But that’s me

J will be 10 weeks tomorrow. He has a semi-strong neck and head control. He has a VERY big head (96 percentile) and has a hard time lifting his head off the ground during tummy time.
Does anyone have suggestions to help him with lifting his head?

Does anyone have suggestions to help him with lifting his head? Practice! Faith still hates tummy time so she doesn't get a lot of practice. I keep meaning to try tummy time on the bobby or similar wedge to see if that helps her tolerate it, maybe that would help J too?

I have been using the bobby to help assist and it helps a *tiny* bit. I also use a yoga ball with him for tummy time a few times a day.

Does anyone have a name sign like this? I’m trying to decide what size to get. 18” or 24”. I’m leaning toward bigger but don’t want it to look ridiculous.

Good morning all! I have been so busy because of the bus situation. The earliest they can get her a bus is Monday and even that isn’t definite. So for now I have to drive her back and forth. It’s 25 minutes each way and there is only little more than two hours between drop off and pick up so I spend a lot of time in the car in the morning. Tomorrow I will hang out at my SILs house between drop off and pick up because she will be home and she lives closer to the school.

I don't have a name sign, but I made a sign that is an 18" round (actually 17.75 diameter) that says Home Sweet Home to hang in our hallway. It is pretty big and unless it was the focal point of a large wall I think 24 would be massive. Also, Home Depot sells these rounds in the lumber section if you want to go see the size in person. It might not be the exact wood the sellers are using but it will give you a good idea of what the size looks like in person. Lowe's probably sells them as well but I've always gotten mine at Home Depot.

aprilz81, good idea. DH is always getting packages for his business so I will use some of that cardboard to cut out the two sizes. I haven't decided where I am going to put them but probably centered above the crib in DD2s room and the twin headboard in DD1s room.

I made myself a drs appt for later this afternoon to figure out what’s going on. Fx I get some answers besides it’s just the flu and you need to ride it out.
DS2 is 2 months old today but I’ll have to take his nonetheless pictures probably this weekend. I can’t believe it means I’m only about 4 weeks away from going back to work. I’m bummed because it seems like my entire leave has been weight checks and sickness.

We have a gas stove in our living room that we use for heating most of the house. It works on a slider on the wall, and the toddler is using his lightsaber to reach it and turn the fire on and off while I’m nursing the baby. Every day with toddlers is discovering new and exciting ways to childproof things 🙄 In other news, social smiles!

sarahh we do! We purchased from The Trendy Timber (on Etsy). Both kids have 24" signs. I will admit, they are bigger than I thought, but they fit the walls nicely. We used it in DS' newborn shoot but it's over his crib now. DD's is also above her bed.

kyzo, I wanted to get one when I was pregnant but I forgot to order it when that shop was open. I hope some of the other companies look as good. I kind of like the big one. We don't have anything on the walls where I want to put it so I think bigger would be better in this case.
