sunfrogger my IL’s sound very similar. They moved to FL to run away from problems here that they created and now they want to know why I won’t put DS1 who is 5 on a plane by himself to go see them since they do t want to drive back to visit. And we’ve already been told our family vacation next summer should be for their family reunion. They seriously can't figure out why you don't want to put a FIVE YEAR OLD on a plane by themselves?!?! Even as an unaccompanied minor that is a recipe for disaster. They honestly just have no clue. I often wonder how H survived with them half the time.

Ha, amesie...my DH took a pic of me doing yoga over the weekend with our 2.5 yo laying on top of me. If I have time I'll post it later!

tiffbabey you aren't a bad mom. You both need the break. I fight my DD so hard on this because she doesn't want to nap (even though she naps like 3hrs when she does) but I need the break!

We toured yet another daycare at lunch today and ended up loving it. It was way nicer than any of the others with current availability and it's 0.2 miles from DH's work. So we decided to start them next Monday so that we don't have to keep paying the nanny.
I told DD1's preschool teach and she almost started crying which made me tear up. DD1 loves her teachers and he classmates so I know it's going to be hard for at least me and the teachers when I pick her up from her last day tomorrow. I'm not sure the kids will get it until she's gone.
I think once we can get through her first week next week I'll feel better about this whole thing.

What are you guys doing with your toddlers when trying to get the baby down for a nap? I’m about to lose my goddamn mind over this. N insists on coming in the room with me while I’m nursing H and trying to get her to sleep. And she’s obsessed with opening and closing doors. She is not quiet either. When i tell her to be quiet she gets louder and angry. I’ve tried setting her up with my phone watching her videos while I do it but that has not been working. The damn door to the nursery doesn’t latch all the way shut, which I promptly just texted MH about swearing at him for saying every fucking day he’s going to fix it and never does 😡😡😡 So maybe eventually I’ll be able to lock her out. But I’m afraid that when I do, she’s just gonna be banging on the other side of the door. And it’s not like I can stop nursing and rocking to put her in timeout because then I’ll have an overtired cranky ass baby. Wtf. Help me.

amesie I remember finding that SO hard when DD1 was a baby too. DS was a month shy of 2 when she was born and didnt understand for a long time. I definitely found that part easier this time around as the big two either distract each other or watch videos (and DD1 is a bit older than DS was when she was born) and I think N is just that much more adaptable to noise since she’s constantly surrounded by it lol. I don’t even remember if I had any advice. I think it was just one of those things that just kept getting easier as time went on, unfortunately.

tiffbabey I am always a fan of setting your children in a safe space and walking away for a little while. It’s NECESSARY! And yes I am shouting that because I feel very strongly about it. We set up very high expectations for ourselves as moms and the kiddos give 0 fucks about our plans. They want to assert their dominance and push buttons. It’s what they do. We need to step back and take a breath every once in awhile.

amesie Is putting her in the living room with the TV an option? The baby takes one big nap during the day and that occurs when G is upstairs in her room for her nap. He takes short naps at other times but those are in the living room. If he wakes up because she is noisy then he is up for good or he goes back to sleep. 🤷🏻♀️

amesie that was so hard when DD2 was born. That’s when I invested in leapfrog videos and excessive amounts of screen time happened until we sleep trained at 6 Months. Leapfrog + snacktraps full of cereal usually bought me enough time. But it meant vacuuming a lot of crumbs out of my couch. Have you seen aqua doodle mats? Mat with a water pen they can use to draw. Might be an ok distraction on occasion.

With craft stuff, she tends to have to show me everything she does every step of the way, so I could see her barging into the room “MAMA LOOK WHAT I DID!!!” 😂 but I could def try it. Thanks!!

amesie, can you shut her in her room while you nurse? no 😔 she would only stay in there if I had something new and exciting for her. One day I made it very exciting to sit her PBK chair in her little tent and watch videos in the dark. That was a hugely successful that day, but it hasn’t worked since 😑 She will also stay in her room for timeout until I call her down. But I can’t put her in timeout every time I try to get the baby down haha

But she tends to have to be in whatever room I’m in. So if I’m cleaning the kitchen, she typically has to bring her toys into the kitchen and play on the floor there 🙄 hence why she always follows me upstairs when I put the baby down. H is pretty good at sleeping through the noise as long as she falls asleep in the noise. But they aren’t typically long naps. That’s why I try to put her down upstairs in the quiet dark. Maybe it’s a losing battle on my end for trying to do the quiet naps all the time ugh.

Lol just kidding. He is screaming his head off. This was Faith a good chunk of the afternoon. Lots of sweet "sleep" and waking up screaming a few minutes later. I'm going to try to get her to sleep earlier tonight.

So update on me: dr says even with tamiflu I could have a fever for up to 10 days and should continue to wear a mask around baby until I’m 38 hours fever free. I also apparently have thrush in my throat/tongue which is why I’m in so much pain she thinks. I have to take nyastin 4 times a day for 10 days and that shit tastes nasty.

I have mentioned it here before (probably a million times) that J is not a good daytime sleeper. I am anxious with how his daytime sleep will be once he starts daycare. Maybe they will work their "daycare magic" and he will start sleeping better during the day.

J and I went to the mall today for 3 hours! It was nice walking around and going into stores I normally don't have time to check out. I did get some great clearance clothing for J and the 4 year old. Oh, and some makeup for me at Sephora :-)

Today baby and I went with DD2s class on a field trip to a farm. Then since it was actually nice we spent much of the afternoon outside.
This evening I took an adult hip hop class. DH had all four girls. He texted me and asked if I’d pick him up some Starbucks on the way home. When I was done with class I texted him to confirm all was well before stopping. When I got home all four were asleep, but he said baby just went down and had screamed hard for a solid 30 minutes. 😢 I appreciate that it doesn’t phase him to take care of all of them or that a screaming baby isn’t too much for him, but that doesn’t constitute fine to me. I hate that she was so upset and it was just because he didn’t have an extra set of hands to take care of her while putting the rest to bed.
So I ate 2/3 of a pint of dairy free Ben and Jerry’s. Whoops.
