While we're here. Can anyone tell me about Montreal weather, end of May. May is still basically winter here.. Wonderful time of year to go, generally! You'll probably want jeans, and a tee shirt with a sweater and windbreaker layer on top for walking around outside. In the early morning you'll be chilly and by noon you'll be stripped down to the tee shirt, if you get nice sunny days.

Have not read the whole thread, but I feel like promoting NB is like trying to make fetch happen.
I am from there. I'm allowed to say that.

I remember seeing Shakespeare plays in Stratford. That was always cool.

Manitoba The actual middle of Canada. It's very Lake-y. I would love to see some buffalo And I would enjoy the Mennonite historical village a lot Canadian Museum for Human Rights is a must see for me in Winnipeg (I think it's still Canada's newest national museum?) I hear there's a thriving arts scene in Winnipeg! Just don't go during mosquito season, eh?

Tlex, I've been to the Museum of Human Rights and it was an amazing museum. Seeing it with my old, conservative dad? Not so much.

feel free to ask away. I'd only been out here once before we moved. Where are you in NB? I was desperate to get out but spent the last 6 months wanting to go back, it's been a bigger adjustment than i thought Greater Moncton area. Thoughts and prayers. That city blows.

Manitoba holds the largest multicultural festival in the world. It takes place during 2 weeks in the summer. It’s a great time to visit So you can take in different food and drinks from around the world. A lot of people from the States actually come up for Folklorama. Our team is in the nhl playoffs this year so come join the bandwagon

Saskatchewan Also very snugly middle. First of all, our hearts and condolences are with Saskatchewan as we grieve with you the Humboldt bus tragedy. A bus carrying a junior league hockey team, the Broncos, was struck by a semi and 15 people died. Sticks out for Humboldt. Sending love. Saskatchewan (sass-cat-chew-on) is farmland galore. It's very productive and the heart of what we call "Canada's breadbasket" in 8th grade geography. This is the town my grandma is from: What up, broadview! Oh sweet hello buffalo: Castle Butte looks pretty rad, if you like rocks, which I do: Regina is a really beautiful, livable, family oriented city. Affordable too! It does kinda rhyme with vagina but vaginas are great.

All those northern photos I posted were of Manitoba!
Also the art scene is pretty unexpectedly great. See: Nuit Blanche. They call it art's one night stand.
It's like neon lights everywhere and huge art. Very hard to explain. But basically downtown turns into a huge walk-through art piece. instagram holds the answers lol.

Also, Saskatoon in Saskatchewan is a gorgeous city (the downtown anyways). I...suck at posting pictures, but it's gorgeous, so everyone should Google it. We also have a Nuit Blanche here that is a lot of fun.
Saskatchewan is also one of the worlds largest producers of lentils (and many other pulse crops), which is cool.

But seriously; I'm learning a lot in this thread! Did you know that Calgary enjoys more days of sunshine than any other major Canadian city? And in 2011 Forbes.com listed it as the cleanest city in the world. (I didn’t until I just googled “fact about Calgary”) Also you can walk 18kms downtown without going outside through the Plus 15s (tunnels connecting buildings). And that our mayor is kind of the best.

Hmm....what can I say about MB? Mennonite Heritage Village is neat- the first time. Have not yet visited the Human Rights Museum. Exchange District in downtown Winnipeg is fun to wander through. the Forks (where the Red River and the Assiniboine River meet) is lots of fun in the summer. Winter too actually- they put trails on the river to skate on. Folklorama is a big thing and I love visiting different country pavilions each summer. Lots of small town festivals which turn into huge events (Summer in the city, Olde Tyme Country Fair, Brandon has a big winter fair)

Alberta, time to lay some love on you. First of all, hello neighbour. Alberta is an excellent Canadian destination EVEN IN WINTER. Not all of Canada can say that. First of all, skiing galore. The Rockies. The amazing lakes and mountains. But also. The west Edmonton mall! You can stay in a hotel within the mall and never go outside! It's really big. Maybe still the biggest mall in the world? Not sure, Minnesota and Dubai are always trying to compete. Try hards! Also in winter, the national parks. You can turn your stomach and skate on clear lake if you like. But those places are also amazing in spring, summer, and fall, so come anytime. And then of course the stampede where you can eat a prairie oyster. Be wary, cuz where are they gettin' oysters at on the prairies eh? Suspicious. Some say delicious. Alberta has lots of the most amazing beef, fantastic cultural pocket communities, and Calgary has a really rad mayor so naturally it has rad people who voted him in. Also it has many of my favourite posters from this board. Yes, you! And you! And you and you and you!

This thread is making my day and I’m not Canadian! I’ve been to NS and PEI. Isn’t halifax where the titanic victims washed ashore? Morbid but interesting. I got super seasick on the Bay of Fundy. I have been to the Shakespeare play in Stratford. Niagara Falls many times. Driven from upstate NY through Canada to Michigan by way of Sarnia many times. Spent a long weekend on Lake Muskoka- gorgeous!
Never been west but I’m supposed to go to a conference in Victoria in the fall!
