Cape Breton, Nova Scotia is beautiful. The Louisbourg fortress is an incredible historic sight. Grade 7 me got to spend a few nights there dressed in colonial garb and eating colonial bread. It was a really fun school trip! They gave us different characters with bios, class rankings, money or credit to access goods depending on status, etc.
The history nerd in me would really want to do this as an adult. This sounds like so much fun!

I’m here for this. What about the west side? I'm working my way there! Thank you. I’ll be patient. You’re making my day.

There is just so much world to see. I can't believe I haven't spent time in Canada. (I mean that sincerely.) We're less than 3 hours from a major border crossing.
I've been intrigued by Quebec since I read Accordion Crimes by Annie Proulx years ago.

Canadian here. I grew up in Nova Scotia and now live in New Brunswick, with plans to move to BC in the next...5 years (I'd prefer sooner, but we'll see). I'm here for all this.

Acadia University is in the Annapolis Valley, and IMO the best university of the country. Look at that beauty!

This is Seminary house at Acadia. It is said to be haunted. It's a residence, and every year around Halloween, the residents put on a haunted house. It was freaky.

I just did this exact move last May I may have to pick your brain about it. I have never been on the West Coast, but it seems a lot of former classmates are there and thriving in their careers. Might be a pipe dream, but I'd love to get out of NB.

I’ve only been to Montreal, but I loved my time there. It was colder than what I am used to. I also tried to go to BC but Tlex told me not to come. (All love, I’m just giving her a hard time.) All of my Canadian friends friends are welcome to come visit during fall, winter, or spring, but I think summers where the lows are in the 80s F (26C)might actually kill them.

I grew up in the 1000 Islands. In high school, I worked on a day cruise yacht based out of this marina: Now I live in the national capital, which is a woefully underrated city. But my heart belongs to Quebec City, my favourite place in Canada. If my husband spoke French, we'd live there in an instant.

We can't forget Prince Edward Island!! It's the tiniest province of Canada, the home of Confederation, and Anne of Green Gables. There's a big potato industry there, and it is famous for its red sand beaches. There is also the Confederation bridge which connects New Brunswick to PEI

Ugh my post about Newfoundland and Labrador got eaten, let's try again. So, I remember learning about what and why Labrador is but it's all fuzzy so I'll just say it's the part attached to the mainland. Mostly we refer to the province as Newfoundland, geography teachers excepted. Dog lovers: Newfoundland dogs are known for saving the lives of many children and fisherman at sea. Maaaaybe some tall tales in there but many are based on real rescues! City of St John's is almost as colourful as its locals. They will probably make you do a shot of screech (moonshine) and kiss a fish and/or lobster. You'll be charmed into it, we all are. I'll come back with some pics of Gros Morne park - as a kid seeing icebergs in August and seeing humpback whales and dolphins at play was the highlight of my summer vacation. ETA

I honeymooned in PEI. Also-- I have attended the Bluenose Rally multiple times in Nova Scotia and am a member of the Good Times Club. Screeching anyone?

That bridge is fucking terrifying. I love the ferry! Since I grew up in Nova Scotia, we took the ferry a lot. Plus, the Confederation bridge wasn't complete until I was 9. I drove over it last summer, and it was foggy the entire drive. It was kind of nerve wracking at that time

I used to work in Alberta a lot. I remember driving and driving up to Athabasca and looking at a map and realizing how much further north you could go. Canada is vast! Goodness why on earth were you in Athabasca??

I'd only been out here once before we moved. Where are you in NB? I was desperate to get out but spent the last 6 months wanting to go back, it's been a bigger adjustment than i thought

I love all the east coast pics. We went there as kids but it's so so expensive to get across the country now that I don't know if/when I'll be able to go back. I just looked up airfare other day and it's comparable in cost to get to Halifax as it is to get to London or Paris (for me).

Like 18c and clear blue sunny skies all weekend

This is making me so happy right now. I am so proud of how the country (and much of the world) has been rallying behind the hockey team that suffered a tremendous tragedy this past weekend and now this post is getting me all teared up.
Anyways, I am here for when you get to the prairies. It may be cold AF here in winter, but our summers are gorgeous and there is so much to do/see during them.

Live in the prairies but MAN I need to get to the east coast. We have decided though that we will be doing a road trip out that way within the next 3-4 years.

I went once and loved it, but I'm not sure if I'll ever go back because it's so expensive to get there. I can fly to Iceland or mainland Europe for less.
