I'm more nervous now about him trying to fire Rosenstein/Mueller than I was earlier. He's seeming to listen to advisers less and less and just winging shit on his own without many people knowing in advance.

Omg and the SDNY US Atty is the one who issued the warrant so Trump can't pardon him Wait, it's the US Attorney's office though. How would that not be federal?

How dare you question the integrity of the president on the day his university fraud case is settled? (TIC)

I don't know what this means but I'm interested. ETA: From an old WaPo article: "On one side of the wall are agents privy to top-secret intelligence gleaned from spy satellites or foreign officials whose loyalties and methods may not be fit for public disclosure. On the other side are agents protected from such information so that when they are challenged in court, they need not fear revealing national security secrets or introducing evidence tainted by human rights abuses committed in a faraway jail." www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/daily/aug99/dirty16.htm

You're right, US Atty charges would be federal but I thought I read somewhere that NY State executed the warrant. It's also possible I'm wrong, I'm still buried under boxes.

He's seeming to listen to advisers less and less and just winging shit on his own without many people knowing in advance. You mean his official advisors, right? Because I’m 90% sure he’s listening plenty to the unofficial ones- Fox News hosts, the friends he calls or sees at MAL, etc.

The clean team thing is straight out of 'The Looming Tower.' Matt followed up I also saw mention that SDNY had logistical access to quickly carrying out the search vs Mueller's team who, I assume, would need to dispatch from DC. They were obviously concerned about tipping anyone off, hence the search warrant and not a subpoena.

Mueller seems like he'd want to be doubly-sure that they don't access something they shouldn't have. Which also makes me feel extra good that they have enough on Cohen to have jumped through all the hoops to get a warrant on the President's attorney.

Dang, Mueller is busy. Maybe he just farmed Cohen out to SDNY so he could finish a cup of coffee while it's hot JUST ONCE. If you don't let me finish this egg and cheese croissant while it's hot, my therapist will become cross!!! Oklahoma teacher stand-off, Day 6: The House refused to suspend the rules to hear a bill on removing capital gains and another on income tax adjustments. Both could bring in hundreds of millions that have been lost in cuts over the last however many years. They have a special meeting tomorrow at 9:30. A wind tax bill was passed through committee, but would only bring about $20M to the table.
A large group of female attorneys all clad in black marched into the capitol building this morning at 10. They spent their time going over the bills, meeting with representatives and senators, fact-checking information, and making plans to help the teachers.
There were more people there today than any day last week, I would wager. The group of teachers walking from Tulsa to OKC is planned to arrive tomorrow at 1:30 pm, almost a week's worth of walking. Student and teacher groups walked from various metro schools, some as far as 20 miles away. The band played again. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol issued a social media statement thanking the teachers and others at this ongoing rally for being the easiest protest they've ever witnessed, especially considering its size (at least 20,000 if not more, I don't know even how to estimate that).
The frustration is real among the teachers, as no movement has really happened. After the House adjourned this afternoon, I saw a high school assistant principal from a large school district corner a Rep, asking for answers. Telling them that while they said "thanks for being here" from their floor as we chanted outside the door, those sentiments felt empty given their inaction. Party-line voting is definitely happening on every measure in the House. The Senate seems like they are listening more.
Betsy DeVoss said we needed to go back to our classrooms, and stop making children suffer through our "adult argument." Our governor said we were acting like teenagers. The public still seems behind us.
There is a group that will probably seek to get petitions signed to put up to a popular vote any legislation that is signed to try and get funding removed. Because...oh shit, I don't know. Because they're dumb. Tom Coburn is the one spearheading that, the prick. Can I say that? I'm saying that.
The introvert teachers are struggling pretty hard with the crowds. It's a lot, guys. It's just so many people. The support is awesome, truly it is. But this is a lot for those of us who don't group well.

I know nothing about Hungary, but this sounds alarming. Orban is very scary. He has become increasingly authoritarian. The EU President calls him "The Dictator." Like.... publicly. And the fact that the likes of Steve King, Netanyahu and Laura Ingraham are excited about this tells you everything you need to know.

I have always been of the opinion that trump wouldn’t fire mueller if no other reason than it would be the dumbest move of his life.
But now I’m wavering and I’m starting to get nervous.
