The next Republican I hear complain about Mueller running around looking for reasons to indict Trump will be forced to live one day as 2015 Hillary Clinton.

I am not getting my hopes up after election day 2016, but the latest polling shows the presumed Democratic nominee (Bresden) way up over the presumed Republican nominee (that horrible "human" Marsha Blackburn) for Corker's seat.
Like I said, I am not getting my hopes up because polling has been wrong before, but it is a sliver of good news this morning.

Y'all know I'm lying about not getting my hopes up, right? I'm trying because I don't want to be crushed again, but it's hard to not get a little excited.

oh! Does anyone here watch Rachel Maddow? Someone leaked (they think) documents from Dana Boente to her team. She has what she is fairly confident are his notes from a phone call in which Comey recounted his weird conversations with Trump, and the notes 100% corroborate Comey's testimony

This made me snort/laugh. Walker has pledged to send National Guard troops to the border to support Trump's anti-immigration agenda and people here are not having it. Maybe it's because my circle is tightening, but I feel like more and more people are over him. Maybe I'm being too optimistic but I think WI will go blue in November.

Thank you for contacting me about gun control. I appreciate hearing your thoughts and concerns on this important issue. Following the recent mass shootings in America over the last few months, most recently in Parkland, Florida, the national gun control debate has escalated. Some in Congress are proposing legislation to ban firearms, assault rifles, and firearms accessories such as “bump stocks.” In fact, the Department of Justice (DOJ) formally submitted a regulation on Saturday, March 10, 2018, to ban “bump stocks,” a modification to high-capacity rifles that lets them fire like an automatic weapon. I could not disagree more with this reaction. I grieve with the families of these victims but do not believe that increasing gun control with get to the root of the problem our nation is facing. I wholeheartedly support the Second Amendment and the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. I am committed to ensuring that the laws currently in place are being properly enforced, however, I will oppose any regulation, administrative action, legislation, or treaty that infringes upon Second Amendment rights. There’s a reason people say “it’s the Second Amendment that makes all the other amendments possible” – because it’s true. History is full of examples of emerging dictatorships that disarmed their citizens before committing atrocities. But even if you think something like that could never happen in America, a closer look at what happened in Parkland reveals a massive failure of government – a failure that never should have happened. Consider that since 2008, the Broward County Sheriff’s office received between 23-45 calls about Nikolas Cruz or his brother. At least two of those callers specifically mentioned Cruz’s weapons and that he could become a school shooter. The FBI received at least two warnings about Cruz, including a detailed call about one month before the shooting. The school’s armed School Resource Officer (SRO) didn’t enter the building during the shooting nor did three Broward County Sheriff deputies who arrived on the scene but then stood behind their vehicles, according to the Coral Springs police. These are just some of the facts that don’t fit the media narrative, and inevitably, more will come out. We can conclude, however, that too many government employees were negligent in carrying out their duties. Instead of imposing more gun control, we should do a better job of enforcing the laws we already have on the books. Now is also the time to do some soul searching - looking at the societal factors that make disturbed young men like Cruz increasingly common. This is a complicated subject and there are no easy answers. However, we shouldn’t be afraid to look at all facets of this issue, and not just the ones that are politically convenient. For example, David Kupelian of WND.com points out that “a disturbing number of perpetrators of school shootings and similar mass murders in our modern era were either on — or just recently coming off of — psychiatric medications.” Cruz, too, was on medication for emotional issues. As Selwyn Duke of The New American observes, “the human mind is complex and not wholly understood,” and so, “taking mild-altering drugs is a risky proposition” – especially for young people, and especially when taking drugs whose side effects include “suicidal ideation” and “homicidal ideation.” “The media have little appetite for exploring this issue,” Duke says, because “unlike with guns, legal drugs aren’t a sexy issue that can be used to scare people.” Peter Hasson of The Federalist also makes an important observation: Of all the shootings on CNN's “27 Deadliest Mass Shootings in U.S. History” list committed by young males, only one was raised by his biological father. Cruz, too , had no father figure. “Without dads as role models, boys’ testosterone is not well channeled,” Warren Farrell wrote in USA TODAY . “The boy experiences a sense of purposelessness, a lack of boundary enforcement, rudderlessness…At worst, when boys’ testosterone is not well-channeled by an involved dad, boys become among the world’s most destructive forces.” We clearly have a growing problem with young men who feel alone in the world and have no parental figures in their lives. We need to figure out how to reach these young men and help them become productive members of our society. New laws won’t do that. But if each and every one of us chooses to expand their circle of love and attention – especially to those who don’t have that many people in their lives to begin with – we could make a real difference, one person at a time. I look forward to having a thoughtful, honest, and straightforward discussion about these issues in the House Judiciary Committee and among my colleagues over the coming months. As your Representative in Congress, I will keep your thoughts and concerns on this important issue in mind. Again, thank you for your opinion on this important matter. It is an honor to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives. Sincerely, Raúl Labrador Member of Congress 1 st District, Idaho 58 days after Parkland and 57 days after I emailed. I get this response from Labrador. We are NOW blaming single mothers for these tragedies as well. The fact that a NINETEEN year old child could accumulate and arsenal has zero to do with anything.

Here is my response Congressman I'm in receipt of your email response to my email regarding the Parkland shooting. I take offense to your points, especially the following, “Without dads as role models, boys’ testosterone is not well channeled,” Warren Farrell wrote in USA TODAY . “The boy experiences a sense of purposelessness, a lack of boundary enforcement, rudderlessness…At worst, when boys’ testosterone is not well-channeled by an involved dad, boys become among the world’s most destructive forces.” I raised a boy without his father and not once, not a single time has he attempted to shoot up a school. For you to shift blame like this is unconscionable. The fact that a 19 year old was able to acquire the firearms AND ammunition to carry out the shooting at Parkland IS the problem. There are several politicians raised by single mothers, including former President Obama and I don't believe hes ever even threatened such an act, unlike the CURRENT sitting president who has on numerous occasions threatened others with harm. "I could stand in the middle of 5th Ave and shoot someone.." ring a bell? Most Americans, INCLUDING most Idahoans support stricter regulations. I would also like to point out that the second amendment is the SECOND AMENDMENT, not what everything is based on or it would be IN the body of the bill of rights, you know that part where they talk about the right to life? Also it obviously isnt the FIRST amendment. Do your job, listen to your constituents, and quit "holding your nose and voting the way leadership wants you to". You are answerable to the citizens of Idaho. Every hunter knows you do not need a 30 round magazine to hunt elk, bear or deer. You also do not need that kind of power for home defense. Facts show that when magazine size is limited, gun violence goes down. Stand up for MY childs right to attend a school without having to worry about if her classroom door will lock properly. How about you hold your nose and vote for that?
