Yes, charter school. I wasn't sure if that went under the public or private umbrella.

Public school, uniforms. He can wear white or red shirt, blue pants. He is in K.
We have a couple white shirts, but they were ruined almost instantly.
The only real frustration I have is that if the uniforms are dirty I can't just send him in something else. So, I bought enough for a week to end that pain in the ass.
I don't have any complaints otherwise. And a lot of places carry uniform options so there are a lot of options at several price points.

There’s a Facebook marketplace group for our school. Children’s place has good sales and free shipping all the time.

Separate school - no uniforms.
DS would be super cute in a uniform, though.

Yes and I love it. No arguing about what to wear (except when I hear about how so and so didn’t wear her uniform, why do I have to?!)
I personally like The Children’s Place for affordable and cute options. They have held up well too.

for my kid - no, public school
But I wore a uniform from age 4-16 and loved it. Private school so very specific uniform policy. I had 3 shirts, 2 skirts, 1 sweater, 1 blazer, 1 pair shoes

Yes, it’s really easy and makes things simple. I hate the cost. I didn’t my thibk it saves money at all. I bought enough for all 4 seasons for less than $150, including tights, belts, etc. And I bet my kids dresses and skirts last 2 years because she’s tiny.

Yes, private school. I love it because the only argument we have is the occasional "that's not weather-appropriate." And even then it's an easy fix. They're particular about brands, but the school does a resale every semester and items go for really good prices.

That's great, but that can really change if certain brands and/or items are required by the school.

I've found the Cat & Jack brand holds up better and doesn't shrink like their required brands.

I'm reading through the guidelines for DD's school and really happy with idea of uniforms and how they've laid out the dress code.
But I'm imagining the initial whining I'll have to hear about the fact that there's no pink or purple or sparkles in the uniform. I know she'll get over it before too long though.

Yes - private.
Love that I don't have to think about clothes for school. Ever.
Hate that I have to buy them from a specific store, the shirts are white, and they are expensive AF ($28 for a polo).
The public schools here that have uniforms let you buy from wherever.

My kids are too young, but anecdotally.....
My parents spent all their money sending me to a catholic high school in the suburbs when I was really just a broke city kid. The Chicago public schools in my district were awful and scary quite frankly. Being a high schooler among very affluent suburban girls, uniforms helped me a lot because A) it decreased my self-consciousness by about 90% and B) kept other asshole kids from making fun of me if I didn’t have the latest styles of clothing.
TL;DR Uniforms are the best!

Yes, Public school.
Sweaters £10 each, we need 3 Cardigans £10 each, we have 2 Dresses £7 to 10 each, we have 5 Trousers £5 each, we have 3 T-shirts £4 each, we have 5 Tights (multipacks) around £5 a pack Black shoes around £7 per pair.
I don't know how that translates into $ but it's not fucking cheap. And the older she gets (she's 4), the more expensive some of that shit gets too.

No - public school.
Last school had an “optional but sometimes mandatory uniform” policy. The first principal wanted uniforms and the aboard didn’t want to make them mandatory. It was awful because we had to have uniform clothes for certain days but then also have a regular wardrobe too because no one did uniforms on non mandatory days

One of the private schools DS1 was admitted to told us that uniforms would run $700-$1,000. There is a blazer that is required on Fridays. Yes, DS is in montessori but once they go to K they have dress uniforms and regular uniforms. A lot more $$$ then.

She'll be in public next year, and they have a much looser uniform. She's excited to wear bootcut khakis. It's the little things.

Yes, this was me exactly at my private school. My kids will not have uniforms at their public school.

No for my kid. I did growing up and loved it. Similar reasons to sudsy stated. I wish they had them in our school district.

I put ss. She wears uniforms, but it is a charter school so not public or private.
I love that they are easy to get her dressed. We can buy them wherever, but a lot of places don't put the uniform stuff on sale so I don't necessarily think I save money
Tops: Navy, white, or dark green polos ( I usually get them at Walmart or Target so $5-10) Bottoms (skirts/shorts/pants): Navy or Khaki Dresses: Navy or Khaki Shoes: All one color(black, tan, brown, white) Socks: white belts: black or brown Cardigan: Navy or White Tights: White She wears leggings under her dresses/skirts because she doesn't like tights and they can be navy or white.
We spend a lot because white doesn't stay the cleanest especially since she goes to daycare after so I continue to buy throughout the year. We start the year with at least 2 weeks worth of stuff.

No, public. I wish our district did them but I think the logistics of starting it are too much of a headache for anyone to even think about.

Private schools should have a hand-me-down system. Like a mini garage sale of used uniforms. Kids grow fast enough for this to be beneficial.
