The school DS1 will go to in the fall has uniforms but not for the 3 year olds, so we have another year without. Around here, no public schools have uniforms. Catholic schools do. I’m not sure about non Catholic, private schools. I’ve never heard of public school uniforms until this board.

To clarify, I would like the uniforms you can buy at target/dept store whatever... not super special fancy ones the school sells.
Like, a nice polo and some khaki type pants/shorts whatever

Dd1 is currently in a public school without uniforms. It looks like most of the public schools where we are moving require at least casual uniforms, so that should be cute.
I wore a school uniform from 1st-12th. We always had to have skirts, sweaters, and monogrammed button ups or polos from a certain store, but the strictness about pants, shoes, and socks lessened over time. You better have that shit tucked in, though. I hated it in elementary school, then learned to love it in high school.

No - public school. And re: the comments/confusion about charter schools - they are public schools. They are publicaly funded private schools. So whatever you want to pick I guess.

I should probably save this for Friday but I have bought school uniform pieces for myself, lol. Mostly cardigans but the sizes are perfect and some of them are actually kind of cute.

DS goes to public school. Uniforms are “strongly recommended” but they can’t actually force everyone to wear them. The majority of kids, DS included, abide by the uniform policy though.

Solid navy and white. They call it a dress code, because you can wear anything as long as it's those colors. It's the best.
Public school.

Private schools should have a hand-me-down system. Like a mini garage sale of used uniforms. Kids grow fast enough for this to be beneficial. I organize it at my kids school. We also collect lost and found stuff from neighboring schools, wash it and sell it.

If the schools I work at have polos with a custom crest I would get one for sure. Put "Staff" on the sleeve and I'll wear that thing every Friday and school trip.

My kids are in a British international school and the uniform / kit situation is insane. They change into / out of PE or house kits during the day, even when they’re in preschool. We basically are that computational gif in the morning trying to figure out which they need to wear in the morning, which kind of elimabtes the ease of uniform thing. BUT, admittedly, I love me a tidy uniform so I don’t mind
my DD haS: - a dress uniform with white shirt and skirt - a house kit (her house shirt and special shorts) - a PE kit with school color
And yes, the house system is a real thing- for example DD had sport day a couple of weeks ago and her house was her team- they earn house points throughout the year like in Harry Potter. No sorting hat, unfortunately.
My little guy only has main uniform & PE KIT.
Oh wait, they also have Swimming uniforms.

I wish. None of our schools do uniforms, but I would be totally on board.

Public - no uniforms.
I grew up really poor and longed for uniforms for that reason only. Our old public school system allowed uniforms on a school by school basis. As a parent, I think it would reduce a lot of morning drama.

When I was at school we had regulation panties. Whole uniform too, obviously, but uniform included these god-awful navy blue granny panties. In case we did handstands.

My brain likes the level playing field that uniforms give but I do have fun putting together outfits for DD for school. SHE LET'S YOU HAVE A SAY?!?! HA! I usually offer a choice between 2 outfits. It didn't go so well when I let her choose her own.
