notmoose, I loved the Bjorn "Baby Carrier One" with my youngest. I also tried the ergo, ring sling, K'tan, and Moby carriers and could never find my carrier happy place until the Bjorn. I know some people don't like Bjorns because of concerns about the front facing position but I liked the carrier without ever using that position.

There was leftover pizza from a lunch meeting in the break room. Someone took a bite out of a piece and put it back in the box. WTH?

I will never get tired of hearing the baby's heartbeat on my doppler. It's my favorite thing I do each week. ❤❤❤

Solly is a good stretchy wrap. Have you looked into a woven wrap? They last longer than stretchies, and can be just as soft. I still wear DD at 2.5 years in my woven wrap every now and then. She was so sleepy for grocery shopping yesterday, so I wore her while I shopped. I can't wait to wrap a squish. I miss warm snuggly cuddles. Edit to add: hybrid wraps are a thing too, cross between a stretchy and a woven. Wrapsody makes them, as do a few others. I guess I should have said less structured? Is that the right term? Lol I'm open to anything, I just want something that I could do like household chores in while wearing baby. Like laundry, dishes, sweeping maybe? Both my kids were stage 5 clingers and had to be held 24/7, so I fully expect this one to follow their lead. ring sling. It's easy to learn to use, easy to pop baby in, and relatively cheap and easy to find. And they pack up small, so it can fit in a diaper bag for errands.

notmoose I used a ring sling a lot with dd especially when she was little. It's easy to pop them in and out but I never really got the hang of nursing in it. I used woven wraps more after she was past the tiny newborn phase but they do have a learning curve (but YouTube is amazing). We were out and about a lot on public transit and for longer trips I used my Tula. This one was by far the easiest to nurse in (which was handy when out of the house). I also had a baby hawk mai tai but it wasn't my favorite so I sold that. Basically I have /had too many carriers. But I used them for different things!

I will say nursing in any carrier wasn't easy until she had some neck control but not everyone has that problem. I highly recommend the Tula!

I loved my tula. I was able to nurse in it fairly easily and MH would even wear ds sometimes. I didn't get it until he was like 5 months though, so he already had neck control and I didn't need an insert or anything.

Oh also I should say that when DD was an infant the Tula insert was sold out everywhere and someone just gave me an Ergo infant insert so I used that instead (with the Tula) and it worked well. This time the Tula insert is way easier to find I noticed (probably because they are not as in demand because of the Grow With Me version) so I'll probably just order that.
You guys all of this babywearing talk is making me so damn excited.

I just can't deal with this congestion. I remember struggling with this when I was pregnant with DS. I can't breath, it's constantly giving me a sore throat and nosebleeds and it's keeping me up at night. I finally had to start sleeping propped up with pillows but it's not very comfortable. I use a humidifier and non medicated saline spray daily. Anyone else dealing with this?

We have a Lillebaby that we used from birth that I used to nurse in. It was the only carrier I ever felt comfortable nursing in. Plus no insert! And DD loved front facing when she was big enough.

I have an Ergo 360, which I love for walks, and a moby wrap, which I like for around the house, but the sling seems like a good in between thing, and likely useful for a long time.

Mines a mamaway, I found it on Amazon. It's the only ring sling I tried, so I can't speak to others. DS hated it until he had better neck control and I got the hang of using it. I think it carries up to 30lbs, so I still put DS in it occasionally. I have the ergo360, but find it bulky (I'm 5'3", so that's likely why). H loves it though. I have a Boba wrap and love it for newborn through sitting up. But I got tired of how stretchy it was as DS got bigger.

I feel the same about the Moby that you do about the Boba - I really only used it on mat. leave, so <4 months, and it never felt comfy enough for stuff outside the house, but was great when she wanted to nap on me at home.

potatocakes, i have a hand-me-down maya wrap ring sling and it's fine. i didn't find it useful past the first couple of months, though. since all the weight is on one shoulder i found it uncomfortable once my kids got bigger (but i dunno, YMMV, maybe i'm just a wimp-- i find it too hard on my back to babywear at all once my kids are 20 lbs or so). i found youtube videos helpful for learning how to use/adjust it and nurse in it.

cornflakegirl, you can use a rolled-up blanket to replace infant inserts in soft structured carriers. have you tried sinus rinses with a neti pot/squirt bottle for your congestion? for dry nasal passages during the winter, i find rubbing coconut oil inside my nostrils before bed each night helps a lot. reflux can also be a cause of congestion. you might want to try a wedge-shaped pillow- it's easier to sleep propped up that way and it helps with reflux. walmart has them for about $20. alternatively, you could try something like zantac before bed for a couple of days and see if that helps at all with the congestion.

I have spent way too much time thinking about my likely future induction today. I wonder how early I can get it scheduled? I was like 11 days overdue with my first and 7 days with my second. I would really like to go with like 2 days overdue this time, I wonder if my OB will go for it. I have 0% faith that my body will ever figure out how to go into labor on its own.

potatocakes, check out www.sleepingbaby.net/products.php. All the slings are made by a mom who's been doing this for years, and she's fully certified and compliant (I prefer smaller businesses to buy from). Honestly, a basic linen or cotton RS would be fine. There are a ton of BST groups on FB as well, and you can get a used ring sling for fairly cheap off retail. Used is my preference, because the fabric is already broken in and soft and moldable. New fabric can be stiff and scratchy.

Just make sure whoever you buy from is compliant with regulations, and doesn't have a padded shoulder. It may sound more comfy, but it's harder to adjust. Also, pleated shoulders are good if you have narrow, sloping shoulders, and gathered is good if you're wider. My personal fav is the hybrid, which is a combo of both, since I have broad, sloping shoulders. That seller I linked you to does them, called eesti. Or eetsi. EE something.
