Aw flamingo Listening to your description of your dad and B made me seriously tear up thinking of my own grandpa. Unfortunately O’s only grandpa is my dad who lives far away so he doesn’t “know” him super well. O would never get in a car with him on his own free will without me, but he also has a strong sense of “stranger danger.” My dad is also not hands on at all when he’s here. Re help: my parents don’t live near us and also prioritize drinking beer over caring for their grandkids. They aren’t much help, although my mom is much more hands on than my dad. My MIL also lives far away but is super helpful when she visits. The downside is that she has to stay with us. It would be so nice if we lived near each other so we could have separate spaces and she could take the kids to her house. But alas, we have no plans on ever moving to OKC. I told MH if we ever move we need a dedicated space for his mom so it would be more comfortable for everybody.

MH and the kids came to visit again. It makes me sad because L seems so indifferent to me and she's normally so attached. We are planning some fun family time away from the hospital Saturday which should be good. I'm sneakily sipping on a little wine, my first drink post pregnancy!

So the giant, possibly rabid skunk we keep seeing in our backyard is back. Except I think it's dead... I'm not trudging through the snow to find out. Is animal control in your area responsive? You can call them to remove it. DH said he'll grab a shovel and toss it in the woods. I assume that's where it came from.

wineallthetime I'm sure she will be back to being a mama's girl once you're back to a normal schedule! I think that's pretty normal behavior.... on the bright side of things she's not crying for you and making you feel even more sad to be away from them.

FWP: I looked at the school photographer site and bought a dress to match one of the two spring background options. Our school chose the other background so now I need to get Cadence a different dress that will go with that one.
I'll just use the original dress as her Easter dress. So really I just need her Easter bunny dress and school photo dress. And shoes for everything, but she needs to be with me to try things on.

Giovanna went to school for picture day this year with a bunny ears headband on.... and you could still see the hearts on her face from her Halloween costume the night before. Safe to say... I didn’t remember it was picture day. 😂

I'm annoyed. We had an appointment scheduled with a company for carpet between 7 and 9pm tonight. No one showed or called. Evie stayed up late because someone new was supposed to come by.
I'm more annoyed that this was going to be our 3rd bid and we were going to decide what direction to go. Guess it's just the two bids we have because I'm so over this!

The chiropractor wants me to stretch out my hip flexor by laying with my butt off the bed, lay back, hug my left leg to my chest and let my right leg hang. Except my bed is too short so my foot touches the ground. So I pushed 2 of my counter stools together and did it on there. Worked really well actually! I also painted my nails for St. Paddy’s day while watching grey’s.

I kind of forgot about the mall Easter bunny and then we passed him today while we were out shopping. B was literally cowering behind my back as I stood there waving at the bunny, and we had to take a very circuitous route back to avoid seeing him again. Guess we will not be lining up to meet him this year!

We didn't get her picture then, we told her we would come back.

Dh told me tonight his parents put their dog down yesterday. He was 15yo Maltese and has been on his death bed for years, I swear. He spent most of the last couple years at DHs grandmas house. So really, N didn’t know the dog that well at all but always included “Jake” in her bedtime prayers.
Well, I told dh he should tell n about it. I had volleyball tonight so he talked to her about it at bedtime. He said she took it really hard and cried a lot. And the conversation went on to talk about us dying. Oh dear. He said she asked a lot of questions and cried a lot. My heart is aching. I wish could have been here for her. I didn’t expect it to go like that. I just want to scoop her up and bring her to my bed 😔

B had a period this fall--when my H was in PR doing hurricane relief work, natch--where he was very worried about death, what would happen to him if we died, etc. It broke my heart and I wondered if part of it was motivated by DH being gone for an extended time. I have since read that the fixation/curiosity is very normal for this age, so I imagine if this is the first time she's dealing with something like this it's kind of bringing all those questions and fears to the surface. Hope she is feeling better in the morning.

Every other year he has watched as chrisy01's L gives high fives and poses for pictures like a champ then his turn comes and he wants nothing to do with it. We'll see.

I didn’t remember it was picture day. 😂 You guys know me, right? I'm like this every picture day. March/April just seems like more because there are so many pictures: Easter bunny, bluebonnets, school picture, Easter I think I must have some deep-seeded thing about picture day. I remember I was always super uncomfortable and looked like a goof, so I guess I'm just extra about Cadence's. Idk.
